Thanks for all the feedback guys. We have a specialist appointment on 5th March, so will update once we know what's happening for sure. His eyes are definitely mucky again already after finishing using the cream we had. They're still not really bad again, but definitely get progressively worse every day. Poor boy. He was swiping at his eyes with his paws the other morning so it clearly doesn't feel very nice for him.

I think you've done the right thing re the x-rays - if you don't know what's wrong, you'd always be wondering if you did the right thing, and it will be hard enough to let her go without second guessing yourself. I'm not sure what to hope for, but I'm thinking of you...

yeah, the very first thing I bought when we found out we were getting him was the knotties patches bear :) I still think it's the nicest one on offer, though I do like the long ears on the matching bunny - unfortunately it's pink and my husband won't think it's manly enough! They are great quality though - Nix's has received a great deal of love, and is still in one piece! -

we don't often get a chance to retrieve in water, but he does like it. we have a water wubba already though, so one water toy is probably enough. I'd like something I can leave in the yard for him to play with without getting destroyed and eaten. Weirdly enough he's pretty good with most stuffed toys - his two original teddies are still intact (though well loved), though he did destroy the monkey head on his kong wubba friend. He doesn't really destroy small balls either (which is lucky given the number of cricket balls that came over our fence in the last few weeks). At christmas there were so many things I wanted to get him, whereas now I have no idea. I think I'll just have to wander through a shop and see what takes my fancy. -

Looks like they have some cheap beds and stuff too Steph... I'm trying not to think about it - we don't need more stuff!! Though, if anyone has some fun new toy recommendations - Nixon is turning 1(!!!!!) on sunday, and I'm not sure what to get him yet. His favourite toy is his kong bounzer ball, but it's not hardy enough, and he tries to kill it whenever I let him play with it. It had a massive hole after the first 5 mins play. So, something very hardy, but fun... I was looking at the tirebiter frisbee last time I was in petstock, but the girl didn't think it was very hardy? -

That is a really nice colour Lisa. And if you have really dark tinting, nobody will even know you have your dog in the cab with you :) -

That's a great price for a new car Leah! Warranty definitely sounds like a good idea. Though make sure you get everything checked off at every service, and the book signed. I've been reading a lot lately about factory warranty being voided due to not following the scheduled servicing... bastards! -

I said from day one that I didn't want an x-trail, but they do tick all the boxes They tow 2t! and have a good shaped cargo area. Just innate prejudice on my part I guess. I may have to start slowly getting over it... I got really excited when I heard that the Renault Koloes is basically an x-trail with different skin, but looked at one on the weekend and the cargo area is useless like every other curvy suv. -

I actually really like the Nissan Murano - lovely car with a nice big cargo area - only negative is it's a v6 and still only tows 1500kgs! I could maybe overlook the 6cyl thing for a decent tow rating, but can't justify it not having both. -

What about the mazda equivalent of the ford ranger Lisa? Is it the BT-50? can't remember... But I think it's the same car without being a ford... :) Thanks whippytails, I'll look them up - though if it's brand new it probably won't fall in my price range. I'm also really nervous about turbos - I'm sure they're great, but I know they're expensive when they fail and that freaks me out. Having a camry and a corolla for the last few years I've gotten a taste for relatively simple repairs. There's so many scary things that can go wrong with newer cars - way more computers and electricals! -

Yeah, i think most mazda models are very good, but as soon as I started researching the cx-7 the feedback is overwhelmingly bad (on the turbo models anyway, which is most of them). They have 1 non-turbo model which is still on my list, but they only tow 1ton which is useless. Apparently the turbo models chew a heap of fuel too. The VW Tiguan is in the range I'm looking at, but I find them extremely unattractive :) The current leaders are probably the Mitsubishi outlander (suprisingly practical layout, and not toooo ugly), and the subaru forester (not as ugly as they used to be, but still not great). Both aren't super appealing, but they do have very practical cargo areas. In terms of dual cabs, I love the look of the Ford Ranger, or the Nissan Navara - but they are probably both more expensive than the colorado I think. My FIL now has an Amarok which he LOVES!!! He'd talk all day about it given the chance. -

Sounds great! It definitely helps to know what you want! Though, my father in law used to have a colorado and wasn't that happy with it, but I think they're a good entry level dual cab. Maybe the bigger crate will fit with your seats folded down? I have a corolla hatch at the moment and it's amazing how much you can fit in it with the seats down. I originally wanted a mazda cx-7, but after doing some reading they have a reputation for needing very very expensive repairs, so that's a bummer. What I want doesn't seem to exist which sux. I want 4cyl for cheaper rego, but 2t towing in case we can ever afford to buy a boat - most seem to sit around 1500kg towing which is useless to me. And I want something aesthetically pleasing (I figure if we're spending lots of money we should at least think it looks nice). I also want to spend less than $20k which seems to make car salesmen think I'm delusional. If anyone has any genius ideas, let me know! -

Oh no... needing to buy a new crate AND a new car - not good!! :) We're car shopping at the moment, and it sux so much. I want a small/medium suv so Nix can go in the cargo area rather than lounging all over the back seat, but all the pretty ones have a sloped back window that means no head room for the dog if he's standing up... And all the ones that do have head room are ugly... The things we do for our babies! -

That's crazy he's outgrown his crate!! And annoying you'll need to buy another one -
Thanks Ali! Yup, it's just something I put together yesterday while procrastinating  I kind of like it though, I think I might make them into prints to put up in my office! You are too talented! It's gorgeous! You should definitely make some prints.

P.s I've been meaning to say how much I love your new signature Hankodie! It is gorgeous... Did you make it? Sorry for OT

That's awesome - he looks so cute! I tried putting an old pair of undies on Nix when I had to go back to work, but they were long gone by the time I got home at lunch to check on him. pyjama pants is a much better idea :)

Poor Hank Nixon reacted exactly the same way, and we were both too soft to leave the cone on him when it was making him so sad. I bought a cloud collar which he really likes, but he could still reach his bits if he was determined. It did make it a bit more difficult for him though. I don't think he was specifically trying to lick his wound, but like Hank he's a regular downstairs groomer normally anyway! The vet said to keep him away from the wound for 5 days, but it healed up so quickly and looked so good I stopped worrying after about 3, so hopefully you won't have to keep the cone on Hank for very long at all. I hope he's feeling better this morning!!

Benefits Of Yoghurt And Probiotics

I use the normal inner health plus, and give one capsule to my 30kg boy. You could do half a capsule if you're worried, but I think 1 would be ok. -
Araldite it. An old greyhound trick so they can stay in work. :) Thank you! I thought something like that would be good. Will have to get the quick drying one :)

mine has broken and split his dew claw nail in the last few days too. It's not bleeding, and doesn't seem to bother him, but I'm wondering if I should try to superglue the split or something, to stop it getting worse?

4-5 hours is way too long to be in a crate, but the crate will be great for overnight when you're there and can let him out to toilet. We had our pup in a large playpen in our laundry for his first few weeks with us - we weren't comfortable having him outside when he was that small, but he certainly didn't enjoy being contained inside. It all depends on your situation, and the layout of your house/yard. I agree that he will trash your laundry :)
