  1. Happy Birthday Gus and Rosie! Doesn't time fly... Such great pics too Steph!
  2. We used Centenary Dog Obedience at Jindalee, and were pretty happy with the classes. The obedience class was quite big though. I know there's also a dog obedience club at Oxley that might be able to help?
  3. Wow, that's kinda good news isn't it! Very glad it worked out!
  4. That's what I figured. damn it! Will have to keep an eye out for another bargain one, for the next drama :)
  5. Steph, did you get the large or XL for Gus? I got the large, and I think it was a touch small for Nix. Didn't end up using it in the end.
  6. I found it easier recently to just replace the dressing every couple of days too, so that's not a bad option either.
  7. She's lovely! The cloud collar does look pretty big on her. I'm impressed your bounzer ball is still intact - ours has been shredded! Still favourite toy though :)
  8. We found the cloud collar made licking more difficult, but he could still reach his bits with it on... It was clearly more comfortable for him though. He quite liked having a little head pillow with him at all times! If she's not that inclined to lick it might be enough to stop her from starting...
  9. yes - they are so sneaky when getting up to mischief!
  10. Best of luck teekay - I'm sure it will all go well and she'll recover quickly. If you do end up needing a specialist opinion later on, I know there is one at Albany Creek (Brisbane Northside). I haven't used them, but was looking into it recently.
  11. It will be great getting some free food Lisa! Maybe this will be the start of a fruitful modelling career for Nova :) Yeah, Nix loves eating his own hair too. I can't believe he ate mine though! And he knew he was being naughty cos he did a runner when I tried to get it back! Then sat there munching away and staring at me.
  12. That's so cool Lisa! Congratulations! Lovely to see so many nice pics of everyone's gorgeous big puppies :) Will have to see if I can find a niceish current pic... We had a new low this morning - I'd put a little pile of hair just outside the shower when I was washing my hair (so it wouldn't clog up the drain), and guess what? Yep, he ate it... Gross!!
  13. As a kid we always had 100% outside dogs, however there were always 2 of them, and I would spend a lot of time outside with them playing etc. as an adult now with an inside (when we're home) dog - I hate the mess, but I love the extra bond our dog has with us. Don't get put off Eddie, you just need to be realistic about your expectations. If your dog doesn't feel included enough they may get bored and cause problems like digging and barking. And if you want them to respect you enough to have a good level of obedience, then once again they will need to spend more time with you than you've suggested. It seems like your biggest concern might be the mess made by a shedding dog? I agree it sux, but it's also completely worth it, and just part of being a dog owner... For me the muddy footprints might be even worse than the hair. But on the upside, having a dog finally motivated me to get a cleaning lady, so life is good :)
  14. That has to be one of the most unflattering photos ever - (of the human). The dogs look stunning! What a fruitcake... more money than sense clearly.
  15. Our dog is in the yard all day when we're out, and he enjoys it, but he is inside when we get home and with us all night - most of the time through the evening he is just sleeping, but he likes to be near his people, and get lots of cuddles when we're home. We don't exercise him before work, but he does get dedicated cuddling time in the morning, and sometimes some ball throwing. He then gets kongs and other treats when I leave for work. He gets a walk or park time or swimming in the afternoon to tire him out. I agree with everyone else that if you're not willing to have your dog inside when you're home, it is not going to be a successful experience for you or your dog. Don't get a dog unless you want it to be part of your family.

    Sam

I think I joined DOL after you lost Sam, and I didn't realise until now how recent it was. He looks absolutely gorgeous, and I have no doubt you must still miss him so much. Thinking of you x
  17. I asked my vet friend about normal spray weed killers, and she said once they're dry they should be fine around dogs, but I haven't been game enough to use any chemicals in our yard yet!
  18. It's unfortunate the lady didn't know any better, but I'm sure it would be a very shocking and upsetting way to lose a beloved family pet, so i really feel for her too. What an awful thing to happen!
  19. Gorgeous photos of Sumo Cassie!! Looks like he had an absolute ball! Happy Birthday Sumo!
  20. That is such a cute picture! You must be so freaking excited right now... is tomorrow the day?!
  21. Can you ask the mutual friends to find out what their deal is? Or at least get their true address....

    Help Please!

8 weeks is a long time to deal with a stressed out, screaming puppy... I wouldn't set yourself a specific number - just assess your pup as she grows, and keep in mind that the sooner she's outside, the happier you're all going to be. As long as you won't have concerns for her safety while she's there.
