  1. He definitely knows what I'm talking about, I'm 98% sure he pretends confusion to get out of doing something he doesn't feel like. It's the same with basic commands, I can see him thinking "hmmm, do i feel like sitting right now? maybe, I spose it wouldn't hurt, and it'll make her happy..." then sit. He definitely knows "where's the ball", but if he doesn't feel like it then he'll just eat poo instead! I'm pretty sure he pretends not to know "kong" just so he can watch and laugh when I crawl in his kennel to get the empty one out. He is a bit more interested in the ball at the park, if someone is throwing a ball for another dog he'll get into it more, but if they're consistently faster than him, then he'll just sit on the hill where people are throwing the ball and wait for it to come to him. People think it's hilarious that he's so lazy!! I'm a bit lazy myself though, so I don't get too distressed about it. It's so good to know there's another possum poo monster out there! I swear half the time when he wants to go out during the night it's just so he can harvest the poo while it's fresh! so so so annoying! And of course the one time I decide to ignore him when he wanted to go out the other night he spewed all over the loungeroom floor at 4am. And the peeing at the park!! It's drives me nuts in winter when I race him there for the last 10 minutes of daylight and he just ambles around peeing on things!
  2. My lab boy does sounds a little similar in some respects, in terms of general laziness and stubbornness, but he also still loves to go for walk and will pull like a train if I let him. He used to love playing with other dogs, but now he's a bit older it's more just with a select few of his favourites, and if they're not at the park he'd rather just sniff things. He also likes chasing the ball, but gets easily distracted, so if I throw the ball and it goes too far into the backyard, he'll chase it, then go "oooh, possum poo, I'm gunna eat that", and then when I remind him about the ball, he looks at me and is like "what ball, is there a ball here? I have no idea what you're talking about!" Then I'll give up and walk inside and he'll eventually come find me and go "what happened, why aren't you playing with me anymore?" sigh.
  3. He sounds adorable :) I guess you don't want to just let him be a sloth? it sounds like that's what he enjoys!
  4. That's really interesting, I've often wondered if my boy might be allergic to humans, like I am to him :)
  5. It is a popular name. The VERY first human who gave me info about Vizslas years ago was named Tibor. In his honour, we named our first male for him. Any Tibors we have meet has always been a super type of being. That includudes dogs & humans LOL The Tibor I met was lovely too :) That's a lovely backstory for a lovely boy! I'm definitely a Vizsla fan :)
  6. Oh, he sounds like such a wonderful boy! Happy Birthday Tibor! As an aside, I met a Hungarian man called Tibor when we were in Europe earlier this year - I guess it's a common Hungarian name?
  7. I use the scalibor tick collar - it doesn't smell, is fairly discreet, and lasts for 3 months. I does take 2 weeks to become effective though. I have never had a single tick on him, in over a year and half. If might be a good option so you don't have to ask the breeder to do more applications of advantix - which should be applied every 2 weeks. But, I don't believe there's any conflict with the meds you've suggested.
  8. Often threatening to contact the ombudsman will be more useful than actually doing it...
  9. What ombudsmen? is there a pet insurance one? I can see I may have signed up for $500 excess if it were based on calendar year... but per condition sounds really stupid to me!!! I think it's the financial ombudsman: http://www.fos.org.au/ The excess per condition is actually pretty good and makes a lot of sense - well it does when the excess is $150 which is more normal... I'm more concerned about why, if you chose a $500 excess deliberately, then would have then changed you to a $150 excess on renewal, without consulting you. If the premiums are similar then it makes you wonder why you're paying the same for a better policy.
  10. The excess should be per condition, per policy year. A $500 excess seems ridiculous... I would insist on seeing some documents, and take it to the ombudsmen either way. Petplan are getting ridiculous with their incompetence lately! Has your premium changed much with the renewal? Feel free to leave a nasty message on their facebook page, though it doesn't seem to bother them most of the time. You would be able to get a refund for the premiums paid since your renewal if you cancel, but not for the previous year.
  11. I'm so sorry Must be heartbreaking. Not sure what else to say. Hope you get some response from the breeder soon too.
  12. What else did the behaviourist say? Anything useful come out of the consult? What sort of behaviours made them make that comment? Hope they were able to offer you some good advice... Have you spoken to the breeder yet?
  13. I would still contact a couple of other Fields breeders - be completely up front, and ask them directly if they would see the kids as an issue. You sound like you'll be a wonderful owner, and I don't think your kids are too young to learn how to be thoughtful and caring around a puppy. I really hope you can find a breeder who thinks so too!
  14. She's a gorgeous girl! Happy Birthday Didi!!
  15. Will it fit into a gel capsule once crushed? You can buy empty gel capsules. Maybe? Would probably need 4 o 5 of them :) Where do you buy them from?
  16. I go straight down the throat for normal size tablets, but the panoramis one is enormous, and he's been known to eat yoghurt from around small pieces of it, because he hates it that much. so now I have to crush it up and wrap the little pieces in peanut butter and hand feed until it's all gone - takes forever...
  17. I use peanut butter too. It's messy, but the only think I've had any luck with.
  18. Wow, lovely!! And it arrived really fast too!
  19. That's so awesome Lisa! Congratulations Nova! What a superstar!!
  20. Sounds like Laiken is learning very quickly! She is extremely cute :) Lisa, how did you and Nova go in your shows on the weekend?
  21. That looks a lot like my boy when he's doing the dishwasher pre-rinse - he especially loves the cutlery! Ratbag :)
