I've got 5' chainwire round my 2 acres and another 5' chainwire fence to section off the back yard from the front. I've also got 6' palings round an area attached to the back of the very large shed which is where the dogs go when I'm out. Otherwise I tend to let them out in the back section unless I'm going out the front myself. That way it keeps them away from the front gate just in case anyone unexpectedly turns up, eg Energex.

Black Dog used to make a connector for their ordinary ("training") head halter with a clip at one end and a ring at the other, but they seem to have a different one now. http://www.blackdog.net.au/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=5

This is my thread on the subject - http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/236137-crate-with-sloping-sides-for-car. I have followed up all suggestions without any luck except from here http://www.facebook.com/dog.transport.boxes. Art has been very helpful, so I'll probably end up ordering one from him. It's not exactly what I'm after but is the best I've been able to do.

I've been buying it, and Dr B's. I usually pay $6/kg for mince for the dogs anyway, so the price is comparable. The dogs love it.

There's a yahoo group with an extensive amount of files and other info re Cushings and AI diseases. Not sure whether you'd want to join it on your friend's behalf, it used to be high volume when I was on it. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/CanineCushings-AutoimmuneCare/?yguid=7813515

Are those Braccos? Great pics, lots of lovely happy dogs. I've just seen your wolf pics, stunning animals and fabulous scenery. Welcome back!

Thank you. That's what I'm looking for. I've emailed them.

Thanks heaps. I've PMed you back. Bit chilly down there after the Sunshine Coast isn't it? Mind you, it's chilly up here today too... :)

I went to the Petrie one. Different walk than previous years. Most dogs were very well behaved and the temperature was lovely. Nice morning out.

Thanks Nekhbet for that link. The cage in the Astra is exactly what I'm looking for. Shame they're in NSW :). I have tried one fabricator, waiting to hear back from another.

Thanks Nekhbet but the Hagen ones aren't quite what I'm after. What I really want is something like the Barjo vk3xd in my original post, a crate with a divider for 2 dogs. Unfortunately postage from the UK is extortionate.

Thanks Zeebie. A friend gave me some links to Gumtree where there are a few people selling ute cages. I actually got a quote from someone but he said for a one-off it'd be expensive at $1,000+. I've also got a local guy having a look at it. I'm on the north side so Samford would be handy.

bianca, have you got your puppy bars yet?

I've just gone from a van to an X-trail, and although my crates fit the new car when the seats are down, I'm looking at leaving the seats up and having some sort of crate arrangement for 2 dogs in the boot. Barjo in the UK makes the sort of thing I'm after http://www.barjo.co.uk/products/barjo-folding-vehicle-kennel-vk3xd. Does anyone know anywhere in Australia that sells something similar? The other alternative is something like Puppy Bars, but I'd like a back and sides (and maybe floor) as well, so that it could be completely removed if necessary - like this http://www.barjo.co.uk/products/dog-guard-divider-and-2-door-tailgate-guards I'm north of Brisbane, does anyone know of someone who could make something like this at a reasonable cost? Thanks

Anyone With Experience In Prednisolone Tablets?
JackieW replied to donski's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Not good for my old boy. He was about 32 kg and started on 20 mg/day for insulinoma symptoms and immediately got hungry, thirsty and peed more. That tapered off fairly quickly though. He was on Pred for about 14 months and had skin and coat problems and muscle weakness. In the end the Pred wasn't controlling his blood glucose either. Is your dog supposed to be on it short term or long term? My GP vet told me he'd had a small dog on it for years for IBD or something, and he had none of the side effects that Jamie did, so I guess it can affect dogs differently. Very important if you're going off Pred to reduce it very slowly rather than stopping it suddenly. -
Good Mid-priced Joint Supplements
JackieW replied to shells's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm using PAW Osteosupport. It's 100% green lipped mussel and cost under $70 for 150 x 500 mg capsules. -
I can't buy lamb offcuts as that doesn't agree with my dogs, nor does too much roo tail with one of them. You might need to try different bones. Is it beef brisket you're feeding, or soup bones?

Certificate In Companion Animal Services
JackieW replied to JackieW's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks guys. I'm looking at the AIRC course, because after a discussion with someone from TAFE I'm not sure I'd get in (she said they have 200 applicants for 30-40 places. -
I'm looking for a change of career (and this would be a big change :) ) and was thinking about the Cert III or IV in Companion Animal Services. Has anyone done it? I'm looking at a correspondence course as it appears to be very difficult to get into a TAFE course in Brisbane. I'm on long service leave at present and volunteering one morning a week at the RSPCA. Not sure whether I could do the prac work where I am, but am just mulling over things at present. For those who have done the course, is there much paid work around at the end of it?

The Pines Pet Resort at Elimbah is the place I recommend, though they're usually booked well in advance. The kennels is up for sale though, unfortunately. Otherwise I've heard there's a new one at Glasshouse that is good, I can find out the details if anyone is interested.

My old GWP had it once. It came good in a couple of days.
