When I wanted to enter a show with my puppy and the paperwork hadn't been processed, I just entered her with the breeder as owner and exhibitor (Breeder signed entry form). If you have the paperwork, you just need the numbers. Good Luck, baby puppies are so much fun

Time will tell. I did :) - having only skimmed the thread it made me go back and check what had been actually been written (it seems rather rude and childish to alter someones words when quoting, so I wanted to clarify what had or had not been said) Someone on the internet offended me. Oh the horror!Fact is there a A LOT of corrupt police officers who lie through their teeth. That's common knowledge. Before you put words in my mouth. I said a lot, not all. ;) You're probably trying to stir the pot but your "fact" I don't buy into much

Dogs Involved In Fatal Car Accident
DesertDobes replied to DesertDobes's topic in General Dog Discussion
My husband was lucky in a sense that he arrived after the other police and by that time the person was in the care of the clinic staff. It is really hard on anyone who has to perform CPR when the outcome is not good- its pretty crushing and I don't think I could do it. -

yeah, I don't normally advertise my husbands good deeds but it was a sad irony that this happened at the same time as that "other" topic started -

We don't know their names, calling them little boy and little girl very original -
Dogs Involved In Fatal Car Accident
DesertDobes replied to DesertDobes's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think the dogs had walking harnesses on, maybe they were tethered? My husband and I were talking this morning about how good it is to have a breeder who will rehome our dogs in a case like this because I don't think our combined family would take both of them. -
Dogs Involved In Fatal Car Accident
DesertDobes replied to DesertDobes's topic in General Dog Discussion
They were obviously well loved by their mum and I hope that the family will come through for them, but they can stay as long as they need to poor little things. I was very impressed by the young policeman who first helped them and their mum, even being organised to look through the car for things the dogs needed in a stressful time like that. -
So my husband who is a policeman attended a fatal car accident where unfortunately the owner passed away but 2 dogs which were in the car survived. Another quick thinking policeman on the scene found their food in the car, washed the blood off them and checked they were alright after having to give first aid to the owner until the local clinic staff arrived. They are an older KCC and a slightly younger maltese x They seem pretty unscathed considering what they went through, we are waiting to find out what family for the deceased will want to do with them but at the moment I don't think they are going anywhere soon, hopefully the family will take the dogs on as they seem like nice little doggies. We're keeping them calm and settled and away from our big terrors, no vets nearby to check them but they seem ok except for a few small scratches and scrapes. They are older dogs and the KCC is not particularly mobile.

Wow can't believe the negative views of police you should try walking a mile in their shoes- crappy pay for frequent threats and little or no thanks for doing your job with few resources for GD's police. My husbands has been bitten in the course of his work several times, would you blame him if a large dog rushed him and he wanted to defend himself or you think he should just wait and see if it would maul him? Very easy to judge others ....

Remote Community Outdoes Urban In Dog Management
DesertDobes replied to RuralPug's topic in In The News
Great outcomes, but..... I can see that 1. The dog owners do not pay for desexing in these communities and I'm sure that would have something to do with it, i.e it makes it far more accessible to low income households and 2. Roaming dogs in cities end up in pounds which is not the case in remote communities. -
University Rescues?
DesertDobes replied to openarms's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I read about it on dol a while ago, I did see that the vet school show on ABC 1, the vet students at murdoch used sheep instead of dogs and the sheep did recover but seemed to get used repeatedly -
Wow, that is scary. I would have thought that the spray would mess with the vision and smell to the point that the dog wouldn't be able to continue an attack, assuming it didn't already have hold of the person or dog? Now a taser might do the job nicely :D But seriously, a walking type stick that could emit a suitable electric shock would be great for the elderly. cattle prod (some are the size of a ruler)

University Rescues?
DesertDobes replied to openarms's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I have heard of some universities using abandoned dogs for vet surgery training. Often it is non recovery meaning the dog is euthed at the end of the procedure so if they are up for adoption that's better than the alternative (which is a necessary evil for complete veterinary training). -
Why Supervising Kids And Dogs Doesn't Work
DesertDobes replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
I shared this on facebook a while back because I see a lot of dogs that are not happy with being cuddled/ picked up/ chased by kids and adults don't act until the dog growls or bites. My son is 9 and I still don't leave him unsupervised with the dogs outside. -

How Do You Know When Your Ready To Start Ccd
DesertDobes replied to Lisey's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I've done Rally O novice (RN) with my boy, it's pretty easy and all on leash so I do think thats a good place to start. I'm going to look into CCD next year but I see it as a big leap from RN and will want to do a lot of training before hand. My biggest fear is the off leash drop and sit stays -

DesertDobes replied to Lasareina's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
This is a forum for purebred, registered dogs, and registered breeders. If you want to be a backyard breeder, perhaps this isn't the right place for you. Yes this although hopefully Lasareina has taken her girl to the vet and the issue has been sorted out today. I've definitely made my own mistakes in the pedigree dog world but I wouldn't come onto DOL expecting anything other than advice with the best interest of the dogs at heart even if they don't spare your feelings. -
Our vet thought it was a insect bite too, and it could well be because he is partial to chasing bees and hornets ect, but just happened that each time it happened he had eaten something fish based. We also were in two places 800km apart when it happened so either the insect traveled with us or it was something in each area. I'll try the experiment with the salmon after this weekend- he is going for his champion title and a tracking dog title on Saturday

My dog has had hives and a swollen face 3 times this week. The first time his face became so puffy I was worried about him actually not being able to breath. All 3 times it happened after my dog ate canned fish (woolworths brand pink salmon) or had fish oil tablets. He is nearly 3 years old and has eaten these things all his life but on the balance of probability I think he has developed a reaction to something fishy recently. Anyone else had this experience with fish products or any other food?

When Did You Cut Your Dogs Nails Last.
DesertDobes replied to Andisa's topic in General Dog Discussion
I trim my dogs nails nearly every day, when I give them a cuddle! I only need to take a mm or so off -
Sounds great, which direction from KCC park is it (north, south, east, west)?

Re hunting dog breeders. My eyes were opened a bit recently when I found out that there are some that are importing frozen semen from overseas (such as the US) and doing planned AI breedings to improve their lines - and using repro vets to assist them. Not just a case of throwing any dog together and letting them do their thing in some cases at least. Yep, I only recently found out that the bull arab crowd actually have some serious dog people, I'd only ever experienced the red neck type who keeps a bunch of dogs chained up out back and feeds them once a week. Just recently I have met a couple of guys who actually learnt how to properly train a dog to hunt and who are providing excellent nutrition, exercise regimes and of course vet care.... I felt pretty bad about my prejudiced views , but those kind of guys are still a minority where I live unfortuately OT bu I looked up their breed organisation, was eye opening- they have a breed standard and a code of ethics

Can Electric Pulse Collars Be Used Humanely
DesertDobes replied to snake catcher's topic in General Dog Discussion
I had a dog die after being bitten by a snake while I was not around to intervene, she suffered a very painful and traumatic death which included internal hemorrhaging and her internal organs shutting down while on a 2 hour drive to a vet. I'll do whatever I can to ensure that a dog of mine never has to endure that again and now we have to worry about cane toads which don't even have an antivenom to give them a chance at survival. -
Can Electric Pulse Collars Be Used Humanely
DesertDobes replied to snake catcher's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've used one in the past for snake avoidance however I must not have been doing it properly because the dogs know when they are wearing the e collar and when they are not- when they aren't wearing it, they still want to hunt although I incorporated a control word which sometimes works without the e collar. My e colar has a page function and they hate that worse than the low level stim which I was surprised at. Where I live now we have a bad cane toad problem and I'm thinking about using it again to train the dogs to avoid them. -
