  1. Don't know what else to add except more , won't make it any less sad or painful for you but be strong for your girl and enjoy every minute you have with her.
  2. We are now part of the non-functioning microchip club. It's annoying that the first I ever heard about it was when we couldn't find my female dobes chip considering virbac have been aware of the problem for over a year Any ideas on how to get a refund for having to rechip?
  3. Our girl had a FNA at the vet for her lump and it appears to be nothing to worry about at this stage, which is good news for us
  4. I did a Google of Lymphoid Hyperplasia, sounds like people and any animal with a lymphatic system can get it. I thought it sounds like they can be just a reaction to producing lots of T cells. I guess your vet would need to find out why the T cells are being produced if it doesn't go in the next week? Thats what I got from Dr. Google lol. Hope they settle over the next week Kayla1 My dogs lump is very hard like cartilage and firmly attached to her ribs, kind of like a ball bearing underneath the skin. She has been fine otherwise but the location and the speed at which it came up have me worried.
  5. I'm hoping it's nothing, will have more to tell on Monday I guess.
  6. Hi, can't help you but my dog is off to the vet on the weekend to have a similar sounding lump looked at, although hers is on the top of her ribcage near the spine. This lump just sprang up out of nowhere and isn't painful. She is not even 2yo Just wondering if the vet looked at the FNA calls themselves or sent them off? Hope everything works out ok for your dog
  7. Love that I love my chooks and my horse, definitely not a cat person but the horse takes the place of a cat in our household (She's very full of her own self importance, likes being fed and groomed and if you're lucky you get to pat her!) Nothing beats the freedom of being on a horses back
  8. My dogs eat the vip ones for treats, they really like them but it's not their whole diet. It's good that they are stocked in woolworths so you don't have to make special trips to pet shops
  9. The little I've had to do with them they seem quite moody, didn't know they could "hulk" out though and kill things!
  10. That would be a nativity play that would keep everyone on the edge of their seats!
  11. I had no idea, I have horses and they are scared of dogs running up to them (got chased by some camp dogs just yesterday and horse took off, had to battle hard to get her to stop and face up to them)even though they are used to being out with our dogs
  12. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-10-18/guard-donkeys-sent-from-nt-to-nsw/5031174 Outback donkeys guard stock from dog attacks By Gail Liston Posted Fri 18 Oct 2013, 12:06pm AEDT Outback donkeys given new roles as farm protectors PHOTO: New roles: Some of the wild donkeys yarded during a recent muster at Elkedra Station in central Australia. MAP: NT Feral donkeys from central Australia are being used to guard sheep and cattle from wild dogs in New South Wales. Amber Driver from Elkedra Station, north of Alice Springs, says a mob of more than 100 yarded donkeys captured during a recent muster has been sent east. She says donkeys are migrating south through the Northern Territory competing with cattle for food and water. "They are making a big impact on what little grass we have and our water supply for our cattle so it's really good to get the numbers down in a way that can be helpful for someone," she said. "Otherwise, they get culled." An estimated five million donkeys are roaming across remote Australia. Ranger Michael McFarlane from the Hume Livestock Health and Pest Authority in NSW says donkeys may appear docile around people but they have a healthy dislike for canines and will run them off. He is currently training 19 of the animals to watch over sheep and cattle. "Donkeys in any sort of number are really difficult to get," he said. "I was trying to get some tame ones, some quiet ones, but you just can't get them in numbers. "So we just sort of put the feelers out to see if we could get some information and we finally found a bloke who knew a bloke who knew a bloke, and it was just worked on from there." Mr McFarlane says donkeys are already used to protect livestock in Africa. "They are using donkeys a lot over there for protection against leopards and jackals," he said. "It is pretty well noted around the world that they are good protectors."
  13. Nope, doesn't sound good though, let us know what the vet makes of it....
  14. While travelling I brought some rawhide chews for my dogs from Bilo because they had to spend so much time in their crates. BOTH dogs had tetanus type lock jaw tremors immediately afterwards- taught me a lesson, normally they only eat raw food.
  15. I'll see how my two current dogs go health wise, however my thoughts of importing a Beauceron were primarily due to the rustic good health of this breed and thats a more primitive herding breed
  16. Vicious little hounds very cute! You definitely have awesome photog skills- they are great action shots. Enjoy your new baby
  17. I love Dobes 4eva  but I want to add a beauceron to the herd when I have enough money to do it
  18. I like the findings though, will give some credibility to the argument. Just been reading a animal rights movement bashing written by someone pro puppy mill/ pet shop and they seem to think that its crazy talk to think of animals as being capable of human type emotions so this article was a nice balance.
  19. This happens with our dogs from time to time, in spring they can get allergies which look like a contact dermatitis- vets advice was to wash the area to remove the irritants or swipe it with dilute betadine.
  20. A maximum of 5 minutes of exercise for each month of age up until 12 months, so 25 min for a 5 months old puppy, is the rule I have followed.
  21. Sadly I think it will, heaps easier for the owner to have the dog PTS than to go through the process of trying to defend its actions.
  22. My 8 yo old son had a good lol at this one (me too)
