  1. I don't know who the breeder is and I don't really care,, my opinion is that it is bad form from the breeder in question. If this is breeder bashing or tearing a new bum hole as someone previously stated then so-be-it.

It is very very easy to return a call or send an email regardless of personal circumstances. The only time such courtesy becomes difficult is when the person in question has not done what they should have. A simple communication that says -" I am sorry I just haven't got around to it yet" is better than no communication at all. When communication becomes one sided, the ignored person is going to become frustrated, I am not sure how that is defensible by anyone?

Service in this country has really gone to the dogs... unfortunately, pun intended.

  2. Just received a silver eagle cool champions mat, great timing as we have a 43C day coming up on Saturday. Not too hot today but I thought I'd give it a go with Ronin (Husky puppy) he is currently snoozed up on it after putting it on his futon - took all of about 2 minutes  I am very impressed thus far. He is a maniac chewer right now and surprisingly this is the only thing he hasn't chomped on yet. Quite expensive, but I think this might be a great investment for his summer comfort.

  3. Yeah, do it mate, shonky operators like this shouldn't get away with substandard products and service when you paid hard earned money for it. Anyway, thanks again for the thread, I was actually looking at their crates a few days ago.

  4. I don't think there is a limitation on when you can lodge a complaint - if you still have the email trail it will certainly help. Their stuff is not cheap. Either way it is up to you, this thread has helped me when I was looking for a crate a few days ago.

  5. I would be contacting consumer affairs and get a refund. From what has been described the crates you have received are clearly not suited for their intended purpose, it should be pretty straight forward. Especially if the people above who have received poor products lodge complaints in a similar timeframe.

  6. She is using Malaseb for flaking skin which I feel is a bit harsh and Aloveen which contains sulphates and seems to get a few negative reviews. I want to approach this a bit different, both internally and externally. but I am not going to change the breeders recommended kibble for a little while yet. In any case I really haven't noticed any flaking skin and sibes really don't require many baths per year. I just want to arm myself with knowledge and suitable products for the future.

  7. Thanks Rappie!

In reading the the blurb on one of the shampoos, it does says "Substantial research demonstrates the antimicrobial efficacy of tea tree oil, as well as its high level of potential toxicity"

I believe as a minor ingredient with the following oils being the main ingredients.

    Coconut

    Hemp Seed

    Lavender

    Tamanu Nut

  8. Having recently learned that tea tree oil is toxic to dogs, I am concerned that both 'natural' shampoos I have include tea tree oil. I understand that dogs absorb through their skin so I wonder if I need to worry about this. In my mind, even a small amount of toxicity is still a bad thing.

  9. Fair enough, didn't know tea tree oil was so dangerous as it is in many dog shampoos albeit at a lower concentration I suppose. I would have thought that Canesten as previously recommended to be worse as far as licking goes?? Either was I must have misread as I thought it was a fungal infection. My mistake.

Anyway it is good for me to know that tea tree oil may not be suitable.

You'd need to eat an awful lot of canesten to be toxic, it would make them sick before they got to the toxic stage (and I mean a few tubes, not a few licks).

Tea tree on the other hand has been known to cause issues just by absorption through the skin even without ingestion (undiluted).

Thanks for the info, I am happy to learn something new :)

  11. Haven't tried it but all the ingredients look good. My go to stuff is Virgin cold pressed coconut oil for itchiness or Lucas Paw Paw ointment for inflamed areas.

Thanks. Do you use it in its raw form?

I am not exactly sure what you mean by raw form, but I use both straight from the jar. THe coconut oil can be used topically and internally.
