Our breeder gives it to them wrapped in liverwurst. Smash, he's so cute! How old is he exactly? I can't get Louis to do anything for treats. I should probably get some of those expensive ones!

So Louis is back at the breeder's, and everyone's feeling a lot calmer (except for his sister, who's thrilled at having her chew toy back).

Oh my god that poor pussycat! Reminds me of the yearly ordeal of watching my ex try to put Santa hats on our highly uncooperative cats

Thanks for saying so. I miss him, but this will be a bit like a reset. I think I'll be a lot less worried when he comes back, because I know what to expect. I also go lots of gardening advice from the breeder. She's such a lovely person and I plan to stay in touch for a long time :)

The toy thing is pretty important I think. When Tank gets a bit frustrated in his crate, he plays with a cardboard toilet roll and there is also one of his favorite soft toys in there. Plus he has the SnugglePuppie which he just lounges all over. He's currently chilling out in his crate watching me do a university assignment. He has lots of toys, plus his night comforter. He doesn't seem interested in them at all, he just wants to sleep on me or lick my face :laugh:

Louis is back at the breeder's until he gets better. It was a last minute decision, watching him play with his sister, and seeing the breeder's worried face. Louis is well enough, very lively etc, but because its my first dog I think she'll feel a lot better having him nearby. She didn't want to say it, so I just offered :laugh: His well being and everybody's peace of mind are more important than keeping him all to myself.

I bought Louis a little plain sweater. I don't like clothes on dogs, but he's so tiny and winter in Canberra is cold. Then I remembered living in North Yorkshire (until 3 months ago!) and it was much colder. He's a Yorkshire Terrier, what was I thinking? I'll be shivering way more than him :laugh: PS: I'll be posting all my concerns about Louis in the other thread, to keep this one more on-topic.

Thanks for the reassurance. I don't feel so bad about him crying ( I know, I'm heartless :laugh: ) I was only worried that he'd end up hating the crate. Now that that's cleared up things will be MUCH easier :)

PS: I also nearly burnt the house down. It is SO not my day.

So is it ok to let him have a little whine in there? It's not going to forever make him hate his pen / crate? He doesn't seem to want treats or toys. He loves food so I was using his kibble as treats, but now because of his pooing problems (see other thread) he needs bland wet food. Sigh. He's so bloody cute though.

Louis has now done two wees. Breeder says the amount of water he's taken is fine. However, he's trying to poo and can't, and there's a little blood on his bum. We are putting him on a bland diet, and if he's not better by lunchtime I'm taking him to the breeder and we're both taking him to the vet. It seems to be the same thing as last time, which makes us think its the worming treatment which is causing it. I know this has nothing to do with me, but I feel like I'm doing everything wrong. All he wants to do is sleep on me, and I want to comfort him because he must be so stressed out... But what if I'm spoiling him by holding him too much?

Sujo, he had indeed done a wee in the crate. I changed all the bedding and put the wet towel under the newspaper, then he did a massive wee! He still doesn't want water. And after last night he's gone off his crate. I'm doing this all wrong

Louis hasn't drank any water (except a few licks from my fingers) since we brought him home. He's not showing signs of dehydration except that he hasn't done any wees or poos either. Should I be worried?

Nose is cold and wet now, but still no sign of toileting...

Same here Smash! Ok guys, I know a proper introduction is due, but right now I'm just worried. I got my puppy yesterday, it's been 14 hours since he's been home, and he hasn't drank any water, except for a few licks from my fingers. He's on dry food, and I see no signs of dehydration. Gums are pink, skin supple, he's very alert when he's not zonked out. The only thing is that his nose is not cold, and only a little bit wet. He also hasn't done ANY wees or poos. At all. In 14 hours. 15, if you count the time we were at the breeder's doing paperwork. Should I panic, or just worry??? I'm in between those two at the moment...

He already likes his crate, keeps walking into it to nap or play with his toys. The only thing he likes more is me. Sometimes he sits there and whimpers, but the gate is wide open... I think he misses his sister, poor baby Smash, I can't get tired of looking at Tank pictures! He is so sweet. will graduate to the other thread tomorrow!

What's an IG? Sorry I can never keep up with the shortening of breed names! His name is Louis (pronounced like Louie), after king Louis XIV. He was the longest reigning king of France, and transformed life at the court of Versailles so that EVERYTHING REVOLVED AROUND HIM. I thought it was fitting :laugh:
