  1. ADJ are you sure she hasn't just swallowed a basket ball?
  2. Who says black dogs don't age well? Here's my nearly 13 year old giant schnauzer
  3. I would just tell them I don't think I will have a suitable pup available for them and then block them. I am so over pushy pet people!
  4. Just mix it in with his current kibble instead of changing him over just to use up that small amount and then have to change foods again.
  5. human grade diatomaceous earth is a good tool to treat fleas on pets and in the home/yard
  6. Have you tried giving him an antihistamine to help with the itching?
  7. Humping is just a sign of an over excited puppy, not dominance or sex! Keep checking her vulva, might be nothing, might be a slight infection.
  8. How nice to get such a range of colours and markings in one litter! Thanks for explaining the colour naming!
  9. Would male dogs pee on them (just looks a little close to the penis area!) have you put something under the zip to protect from the possibility of getting longer dog hair caught in the zip as it is fastened?
  10. They don't need to have had a mating to have a phantom, it is just the hormones on overdrive
  11. What a lot of whippet pups into the world! Sorry for the losses. Can I ask what the difference is between a 'colour' and white or a white and 'colour' parti?
  12. Dito, try your finger to see if she is still tight and not quite ready yet.
  13. Troy would be more likely to notice, if this was posted in the right section!
  14. My friend has one for her car, it just says 'The keys are underneath the Dobermann'
  15. I have, an old cocker spaniel of mine used to freak out about having her nails cut, after just one bad experience of the quick being caught (not badly) it took a lot of retraining to get her to allow me to trim her nails (even though it was her breeder who did it to her by accident)
  16. We had some fun tonight, the pups got to have their first taste of food, of course it was the little one who dived straight into the food while the bigger ones has a try and got so excited they moved backwards and sat squeaking and shaking until moved forward for another try. Of course one was later curled up asleep on the plate (left over from mum cleaning up).
  17. Could they have a kennel and run somewhere in your garden where the neighbour can't bait them? As that seems to be what you are afraid of? Housetraining, I'd go with having one tethered to me and take him out regularly (so give him chances to get it right). If they are fighting over nothing, i might be best to rehome one of them. Having them live under the stress of when the next wrong look is going to cause the next scrap, isn't fair on them.
  18. Schnauzers and minis are 2 different breeds, so not directly comparable.
  19. If she had the type of coat that looked like matted clumps of fur and is a fairly large dog, then it is a bergamasco
  20. Sorry tibbismax. My lot are so active I have taken the box out today (as I was getting a bit fed up putting them back in it all the time!) first worming tonight (I use panacur at 3,5 and 8 weeks) and at the weekend they get to start on solids!
  21. The male I have here now is similar, he is a lot more up for it after his dinner then before dinner (although he isn't going to turn down the offer!)
  22. I would turn it down for any product/company that I wouldn't want to purchase from
  23. In my experience, knowing them from working and show lines, they are less in your face then a lab or flat coat, don't tend to jump about to get your attention so in that respect they are more reserved. When they are changing coats, just running your hand along the curls will get out a lot of coat, but ordinarily not much comes out, although they do need trimming sometimes (make sure it is done with scissors and you don't use a groomer to shave the dog as it will take a loooonnnggg time for the coat to recover). As a gundog breed they enjoy exercise (1 or so hours daily off lead running/swimming). They seem more independent in their thinking then the other retrievers, they seem to need to know why they should be working for you but with the right training are very biddable. HD and ED can be a problem for the breed, so make sure parents are scored.
  24. I've spent many years with docked schnauzers, I find them very easy to read their mood - the ones with tails are just 'shouting' their mood. I have one I will be rehoming soon as I can't stand her dopey temperament and her ever wagging tail.
