  1. Just pull it out in the direction of growth, a few hairs at a time making sure you keep the skin tight before pulling. Best done after a good walk when the dog is warm and sleepy.
  2. unless the wrong dog gets the loaded treat!
  3. damp cloth or occasionally I've used a bit of saddle soap.
  4. Thanks! Will have a look to see if i can find any like that for sale in the UK
  5. On the dap spray it says not to spray on the animal or anything that will be in close proximity to the animal. Wherever you spray it is going to be in close proximity to the animal - eg on bedding - using a neckerchief and allowing it to dry on before putting it on the dog is no different.
  6. You would need to brush regualarly for it to have the effect of keeping teeth clean.
  7. The dead hair on top of her head just wants pulling out a few hairs at a time in direction of coat growth, nice shiny coat will be underneath.
  8. I usually just pop it down their throat but an alternative method is to teach your dog to catch a treat and then at pill time, throw a few treats and in the middle of them have the loaded treat with pill inside, have the next reat ready to throw and the loaded one has usually been swallowed to get the next one quicker.
  9. check your online canine chemists, they generally stock them (do in the UK anyway) and want have the vets mark up on the price.
  10. grooming arms attach on a different direction ie to horizontal block, not vertical, like the box sides, mine is a plastic box so can't attach anything. You'd think someone would make an arm to hold a heat lamp!
  11. Erny, what about the trimmings from the horse hooves?
  12. Looks like pressure sores with a bit of dirt in the skin. have you tried getting some moisturiser on there and keeping him off lying on hard surfaces?
  13. perhaps as other said, dobe, rottie, boxer (although these seem more fruitloop then working dog!) Giant Schnauzer with a hard coat has a very low maintainance coat - brush beard every couple of weeks! Take to groomer every few months for stripping and tidying BUT I find most don't tolerate working in heat.
  14. There are plenty of breeds away from being 'recognised', eg Lucas Terrier, Patterdale Terrier (Jack Russel - not recogised in the UK), not every breed wants to become recognised. So long as the breeder acts in an ethical manner, doing appropriate health tests, homing pups to suitable homes, not mis representing the 'breed' etc etc. Recently we have had new breeds developed too - Russian Black Terrier, Cesky Terrier. So no, I don't have a problem with someone doing the right things in every way except for being able to get a bit of paper from the registration body of that country.
  15. The joy of my breed, it comes in 3 sizes, so I will just have to make sure my Giant of the time ages with me.
  16. Why??? were all honest people. Plus their is nothing to see in any of my dogs mouths they have clean teeth to begin with. This product for me, is to save the dogs having to get their teeth brushed, mainly the Italian's front teeth. The back ones are usually clean from all the bone she gets. Plus my dogs are shown and you never know when you may strike an overseas FCI tooth fairy. Why so defensive? Just thought it would be good to see the tartar going from the dogs. Sorry your dog has a bad mouth.
  17. raw tripe helps mine put a bit of weight on without upsetting tums
  18. I would check with vet but I have kept and bred from bitches with umbilical hernia - have 2 generations with it, but the bitch above and below these in the family tree are all fine
  19. Similar things have happened in the UK when a dog on our versio of the limited register have been upgraded simply by the dog being passed on to a third party and them saying they didn't know about the endorsements, so the KC lifts them. We are told to put into our contract that the buyer knows about and understands the endorsements, which is supposed to stop the KC the lifting them. Could the case in the OP be similar, ie a 3rd party who rehomed the dog claiming they thought/bought it for being on main reg?
  20. Nice come back! Do you think she was out on day release for care in the community?
  21. Basically we need a good idea of what you expect from your dog, what type of temperament you like (and if it would actually suit your home), experience with dogs/that breed, how much time you have for training, grooming and generally spending with the dog. Will dog live in or out, how long each day will dog be left for.......etc BUt do be honest with your experience with dogs, it will save you tears later on. Remember the breeder knows the pups, they have spent the first several weeks getting to know them, while I don't pick pups for people, I do say which pup(s) are the most suitable for them and explain why another pup wouldn't be the right match.
  22. would be a good idea to post up before and after photos, so we can see if the product is working!
