Kennel Name Suggestion Miniature Schnauzers
becks replied to Ioana's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would pick something that has meaning to you instead of what is just 'stylish' everyone has their own idea on that! Also is the written name easy to pronounce is you have never heard it before - or will you get upset if people say it wrong (some breeders do!!). Also worth thinking about keeping it short, so you have more space for each dogs name to follow. -
it's better all trimed off if you have a boy who 'pops out to say hello ladies' and then gets his penis stuck and the hair pulled back into him!

yes, it normally goes on its own after a while but in this case it hasn't.

Unfortunately Jaffa has developed a really bad case of warts- canine papiloma virus, it started in August 2009 when he was 1, Izzie his weim friend also had them but for a short time and not anywhere near as bad. When you see the photo's Izzie had 1 big one and lots of small ones, all inside her mouth. We have no idea where they got them from. Izzie's went away with no treatment at all, on vets advice. Jaffa was given same advice but his got slowly worse, photo's are from May 2010. He was treated with Interferon injections that were supposed to be a miracle cure, luckily he is insured as they cost £1000, but made no difference. He came to stay with Alison in June last year for 10 days while his owners went on holiday the warts were getting worse all the time they were lots worse than in photo's he even had them inside his ears He was then referred to vet hospital in Liverpool where they said it was the worst case they had ever seen, gave him some immune boosting supplements to start with. Said he could have them lasered off but he could lose some of his tongue then his owners didn't want to risk that. Supplements made no difference either, they then made a vaccine out of his warts and re injected it to him to see if his body would fight it off but again no luck. No new warts grew for a while but now they are again. He's now on some antibiotics to see if they will do any good. He had 65 cut off in about September last year mainly from the outside of his head and face as they seem to irritate him. I've been advised by the vet not to walk with him anymore as Alison now have Zara (almost 7 months) as well and it is highly contagious to dogs under 2, as Izzie has had it she is fine with him and he has walked with several dogs over 2 with no problems at all. Any idea's, advice, treatment anything at all Alison really misses walking with him and his owners he's a real character. Have googled it and it seems it is on the increase in America i'd never heard of it until Izzie got it and vet knew of it but very very rarely sees it. Another couple of dogs in the park had just 1 or 2 warts in their mouths and they went quickly as well. Haven't posted about it before as his owner kept hoping and believing they would go, now she's open to anything to get him well.

If using scissors, put your other hand over the end of the penis, so he doesn't jump and you accidentally cut him. As others have said, very common for various breeds to be clipped short in that area.

so they dry out enough for you to be able to grind them to a powder

Can anyone offer suggestions that may help this poor pointer in the FB link below? http://www.facebook.com/groups/333088096712933/ WARNING - there are some pictures of a Pointer whos face is covered with warts and inside his mouth too - not nice to look at!

angelsun, I mean more for when the pups have gone to their new homes, something as a starter for the new owners - why it is a good diet and starting points for research about it. The pups have been raised on kibble with some raw, so people can make their own minds up but this is the first time I've had new owners talking about following a raw diet. Thanks Espinay, will have a look at your links when the pups quiet down later!
-
A few people now have mentioned to me they are thinking about following a natural/raw diet for their new puppy. At the moment, mine get a mix of raw and kibble (the pups) and I am changing the adults over to more of a raw food diet - so I am wondering if anyone would share the info they give to new puppy people, being new to this type of feeding I am not sure what to tell them in an easy to follow way.

What breed this time?

I wish you would stop showing everyone my new pup!

 changes were happening long before her TV rant. Really? Do you have link? go and look at the old news reports on the kennel club website, plenty info on there if you choose to look.
-
Well, it may help if the people want somewhere closer or easier to get to.
-
have you asked the owner if she wants you to do another progesterone test or an AI?

smish, email them again, they may have forgotten to reply in detail or misplaced your email - it happens, especially when you have a house of noisy pups distracting your concentration. Last night I spent over an hour replying to emails, tonight there are another 10 or so to reply to. The pups are now nearly 8 weeks old and taking up more of my time as well as puting puppy packs together, working and thrying to fit in time for my adult dogs and a life for me!

clipping the inside of the ear and around the ear canal can really help the air flow. It's quite common for dogs to get an ear infection when teething too.
-
Nope, although I do have a card in my car with the kennel name and breeds and this can be seen by people walking past. I see signs for breeding kennels and pups going out to the country and they are 99% labrador breeders, occasionally there will be other signs for BC, cocker, or jack russels

biggest not is not answering my questions! and sending the same message to me several times within half an hour.
-
That is correct and the official way of doing things, although many don't bother to let the KC know they have done AI. http://www.frozenstuddog.net/ is another company you could look at, they are in the UK in the NW of england.

I know people at my training club who get breeders to let pups go to them from 6 weeks old, as they think they can better train and socialise them from that age - well the end result is no better then pups who have left at older ages (and they also seem to be the dogs who jump and climb on people without notice or go the other way and be DA and generally to me have bad manners!!!) Pups that have left me at an older age, the owners all have said how well they have settled in from the start, easier to complete toilet training, they have learned their manners better from being around other dogs. So long as pups are living in the home and being treated as a pet, not just penned up in a spare room or outhouse with nothing to see or do all day, then they should settle well and owners bond just as well.

Mine have been for their vet check and chips today - of course the screaming banshees were good as gold while being looked over and chipped. Off for eye testing on Monday with the official eye vet (mine had a look anyway today!) so I hope they are quiet on the 40 minute drive there and back!
