  1. Aww lovely bubbas Angelsun - a breed on my one day list!
  2. Would he be quiet if you had him in your bedroom?
  3. My giant had these as a pup, she had the drain put in but that didn't work. In the end we just drained it with a needle and then a steroid injection and they never came back.
  4. I can't see it being the shampoo, especially if you are bathing her no more often then at her previous home. You could always move to a Neem shampoo which will calm the skin and repel fleas etc. http://www.perfectpetskin.co.uk/products-page/dermopt-shampoo/?gclid=CJfvsaP4ga4CFRR8fAodZ0chwg the link will give you an idea of what it is good for and dare I say it, better then calendula tea! The areas she is licking, suggest to me it is fleas, even just one can cause a reaction in some dogs (even if the flea then dies from your flea treatment, the flea bite has already set off the reaction)
  5. I wouldn't use the pens when out as mine would just jump out and come looking for me!
  6. ~That's a lot of panting for doing very little.
  7. Sorry nek, why should we expect our dogs not to react and be perfect, when we can't expect the same from people? There are plenty of dogs who are happy to accept pats from stranger, but can still jump and react (even if it is an air snap that accidentally get the idiot) if someone runs up and jumps the dog before they realised they have been approached. Dogs should be allowed to be dogs, not unreactive robots.
  8. groomers or vet nurses will do nails. To the OP - have you tried just telling your dog 'NO' when being silly over his feet and just get on with doing them? I'd never let my dogs fart about if they are having their nails done. The Giants I find easier to roll onto their backs then I can easily see the nail and where it wants to be trimmed to, the minis get held upside down on my lap. Dogs in the shop get trimmed on the table and again i don't let them behave silly, there really should be no need to spend weeks with treats and just touching the foot (unless the dog has suffered some trauma over having their feet touched)
  9. it#s great stuff, mine have it regularly.
  10. your dogs look clipped from the signature pic. I would therefore suggest using a good conditioner whenever you bath them and you can use a spray in grooming spray misted over the coat before brushing.
  11. There are pros and cons. Personally I would let your boy fully mature and then think about desexing.
  12. they only cost a few $$ you may aswell get a new one with sharper blades.
  13. pups tend to learn the naughty quicker then the good, from the older dog(s) in the pack so cat chasing would be an issue I would think. As for affection, I have several dogs and they all want to join me on the sofa, 3 sleep on my bed - no problems with bonding with me and they all get along together well. The only thing, with 2 dogs it is a good idea to get the new dog used to spending time on their own away from the other dog - sometimes they can fret a lot if their canine companion is away (eg at the vets for treatment or you are away with one competing in some dog sport etc etc)
  14. plastic hair roller is good to and allows the air to get to the wound as it heals
  15. For a springer, I would say to just get a 10 blade (which is short and usually free with a new clipper) and a 7f blade (the 'f' blades have all their teeth and do a smooth clip, the 'skip tooth' blades eg 5,7 etc will do a more choppy job best used for roughing off before a bath in long coated breeds.
  16. Oster, Andis etc and those in the same price bracket with interchangable blades are the best, as they have the power to get through the coat (the cheap ones from pet shops will only manage part of the dog before dying!!).
  17. All the yorkies I have met love the wall of death zoomies and have no sense when leaping from off high. Show yorkies are small but there is a huge variation in size. Tough dogs bred to hunt rats in the yorkshire coalmines
  18. Got to love the rubbish people say to sell mutts!
  19. If they are left unwashed they don't dry well enough to crush up, washed first they do dry out well enough to crush in a pestle and mortar - I know as I have done this both ways! :D
  20. One of my minis had this for a few days (and she hadn't been swimming and weather wasn't that cold). She was in no pain with it, so it was just a wait and see approach. I know a few GS who have had this and required painkillers for several days.
  21. Have you been back to the vets yet to have the stitches out? I usually take them out on day 10.
  22. I wouldn't even be thinking about surgery yet, just see if the lump goes down. Vaccinations can cause a hard lump that can take several weeks to go away, could this be the cause of the lump?
