  1. over reacting! I do wonder at paying $700 for a 9 year old dog though??
  2. yes, most of it was just a rehash of the first one and some very heavily edited snipets from interviews - more of same interview giving is seen in the KC program that was doing the rounds of the web recently
  3. Yep and our new pound pup is the same - I picked up a poo this morning that was more plastic bag than poop... nice of him to try to do one that was ready wrapped!
  4. you could try some warm salty water and then a wash with dilute shampoo.
  5. The stripping stone also works well to use with your thumb to pull loose coat out. be carefull with the blocks, mine like to eat them if they can get them!
  6. It's all about raising the bar, the instructor is right to not reward things that aren't right, but that said, you want to reward the dog as she gets closer to being right, not just suddenly stop rewarding anything that is not perfect - same principle as using the clicker, you slowly build up to getting what you want by rewarding that which is closer to ideal each time. Heel work - have you tried teaching a hand touch? Once you have your dog following your hand, you can use this to get them into the right position for heelwork, guiding them into a finish etc etc. I'm not a fan of walking around the training area to practise, better to just do one of two strides of correct work and then reward. At home you can practise against a wall so the dog is moving straight.
  7. make it into liver cake with garlic.
  8. I've had the same pairs of Mikki nail cutters in the shop for many years and they still work fine. If the nails are really hard, try cutting after a bath or wet walk
  9. only way it to have them in a towel between your knees, even then it is tricky, that;s why i have the clamps on hand. I've had a couple of short ones and sadly a couple to short to do anything with and lost the pups.
  10. A judge that is bothered about what the exhibitor is wearing, isn't worth bothering about - they are there to judge the dogs not what you are wearing. When I judge I am looking only at the dog, only once the places have been made to I look up to see what is on the other end of the lead!
  11. i wouldn't feed a food with corn as a main ingredient, not the most digestable food ever!
  12. I have mine on puppy food by the time they are having the pups. If you barf, just keep up the good stuff so she has enough reserves, especially in weeks 2-4 when they are on maximum output. I start to wean from about 3 weeks depending on how well they are doing, mum is doing and how many of them there are. I would put papers under the vetbed, or you will have to keep washing the marine carpet, as the liquids go through the vetbed onto whatever is underneath. Coffee - lots of it to keep you awake!
  13. mating happened today, so due from 15th april. She is normally one who needs mating later in the season, hence the 'from' date.
  14. Mine is in season and waiting on the right day for mating atm
  15. you don't want to be giving so much offal to them, mine get it once or twice a week. Can't get any exotic meats here, so mine have green tripe, chicken or beef mince with blended veg and fruit along with chciken wings and lamb ribs. Plus cottage cheese, yoghurt, eggs with shell. Have you checked with the list of suppliers in the sticky thread above? maybe they can send you food if you bulk buy. The thing with raw diet, the balance comes over the week or month, instead of trying to stuff every vitamin and mineral into each meal. Feeding a varied diet over several days will do that. If you are worried, you can always do one kibble meal and one raw meal
  16. haha not really joining this thread, it's just the mum that arrives in march! Just checked on line and saw that she is finally registered in my name at the kennel club now - only taken them a month!
  17. and lots of coffee to keep you going through the long nights
  18. I want to know what he was laughing about in the picture on the bag!
  19. Taps fingers! I'm waiting for next month, got a very exciting litter planned (all being well) as I am importing a bitch in whelp, just waiting another week or so for her to be ready for mating. She is arriving next month and I can't wait!
  20. yes, they're the ones! Would know Sway has them in her shop!
  21. scissors note book for taking note of delivary times, weights, markings/collar colour etc etc couple of pens i find the unbilical clamps easier to use then trying to tie something around the cord on a squirmy puppy. laptop, so the rest of DOL can be there with you!
  22. I wish you good luck in the future, after such a sad ending to this chapter.
