My new import is called Donna, which I hate, so it gets changed to donut

In the UK final vacc is done at 11 weeks and they are good to go the next week, (we only do 2 shots)

Thankfully not an issue in the UK, whites can still be registered.

My first thought was the start of epilepsy. Is the pacing done in the same places? My dog wore tracks in the lawn from constant pacing. There were other signs too which only fitted once we witnessed a proper fit. Moments of spacing out etc are also signs.

Thanks for sharing the x-ray!

Stand up on back legs and feel along crease between leg and belly - feel a pea sized lump = puppies! This is done at 2 weeks in

I'm pretty sure Weimaraners should be hip scored.

So it was passed and failed on exactly the same criteria? No, dogs with ectropion and entropion might be noted as part of an eye test but unless it had resulted in damage to the eye the dog wiuld still be given a clear certificate. However, both those conditions are disqualifying conditions under the Kennel Clubs new breed watch program. The BVA/KC eye test certificates have a space for comments by the eye tester, here they will mention things that are not necessarily breed specific but still outside 'normal and healthy' so things like extra eye lashes (can never spell the real term!), entropian and ectropian etc in older dogs they may even mention the dog has 'old age' cataracts instead of just ticking the box for HC. Copies of these certificates are sent to the KC (and include the dogs registered name, owner and microchip number)

Shouldn't you be in the april thread?

My girl has started to lose her waist 3.5 weeks to go!
-
yes, not uncommon advice to change over to puppy food, i change them over if expecting a bigger litter as they can get more calories into them when feeding them. I've swopped more to a raw diet now, so playing it by ear more this time around, plus we are only expecting a small litter of about 3

the goldens got a rep for bad temperament because of the rage syndrome that was common (relatively) at that time. re. the OP, why would you want an aggressive dog for IPO?
-
I've never used elastic collars, the ones I use have the quick release buckle as I am not keen on having something around their necks that can only tighten if caught up on something

Thanks! Vet saw 3, maybe 4 on the scan, so that is a relief. After her flight and trying to get her settled into a new home and then having a scrap with one of the dogs here, I was worried the stress would have caused her to absorb the pups but so far so good! I am really looking forward to this white litter as the pads, lips etc are pink when born and turn black over the first week, should be interesting to watch!
-
My girl should be 4.5 weeks along by now and isn't showing any outward signs of being pregnant, we have a vet check booked for tomorrow, so i think i will get her scanned at the same time.

My Girls First Season...my Boys Too...

Doesn't even take that long, wham bam, deal done and you are left watching them tied as you can't get to them in time. It really is not recommended to have them together, even if you are in the same room. -
pro kolin, it has the good bacteria and stops diarrhoea

I don't think i'd risk having them both out together when you don't want them to mate, a dog can be to quick to stop! As others have said, a crate where he can see her (and that she isn't getting any from another male) works best here -
You can use a bar of soap, scrape the nail into it and the soap will form a plug to stop the bleeding.

yes, i can feel the chip in the dogs where the chip has moved, those where they should be, i can't

I must have misread. I was under the impression that the 'Black Spaniel' was an attempted break away from the Field Spaniel not a variation of colour within the breed. I wasn't aware that the Field Spaniel still came in black. The more you know. yes, they are still around in black, the liver is just the more popular colour. http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk/services/public/breed/standard.aspx?id=2054 Colour Black, liver or roan. Any one of these with tan markings. In self-coloured dogs white or roan on chest permissable. Clear black/white or liver/white unacceptable.

The black spaniel is the Field spaniel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_Spaniel

Sorry Sal, no idea. I didn't watch much of Crufts today, migraine attack after the long day at Crufts yesterday!

I can do without being near the breed politics!! The acceptance of the whites has been about as popular as it was here!
