I went last night (was also there 2 weeks ago) and while they suggested no sharing of toys and water bowls to be on the safe side, they said that they had not heard of any cases apart from the one mentioned here - the obedience club had not heard of any either (had been contacted) and most of the people who were there last night were also there 2 weeks ago (the 17th that OP was).

Having said that I do brave the rain and just get wet  but for me the walk is one of my few times where I get 'me time' away from the kids and I generally don't let weather interfere with that little bit of peace and quiet!

Would you guys suggest avoiding Castle Hill Showground? I have training there tonight. Would love to get the training in for the Nationals, but also don't want to have to miss the Nationals due to Kennel Cough!

That is a good point! Kaos was a bugger to get measured, he wouldn't cooperate at all!

What Is The Age Difference Between Your Dogs?
Kavik replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a 12 1/2 yr old, an 8 yr old and a 6 yr old. Really keen to get another soon so I can have the experience of competing with two at the same time. -
Being a 600 dog isn't all that bad  There are less dogs in 600 than 500 and a lot of the trials are now separate heights and think of your BCs manouvreability compared to some of the larger breeds (this is how I think of it with a 600 jumping Kelpie - 570mm so well and truly a 600 dog!). And I know quite a few people who would have preferred to be able to jump their 500 BC up in 600 due to the flattening and bar issues mentioned by kelpiechick.

It is much harder if you aren't working in a vet - tricky catch 22 with vet nursing studying and working nd trying to get into it, sorry about giving you a hard time
-
That is the most useful info! Better than my suggestions!
-
The site I gave said a sedative and pain relief as premed. With more searching (that took aout 5 mins) I could probably find one with specific info on that (I'm pretty sure when I did vet nursing that we had reference textbooks and workbooks that had info on premeds etc) or if you are actually working in a vet, you could ask about the premed.

Since it is an emergency ovariohysterectemy I would think you can use sources that are about the spey surgery. So you have to credit where you got your information from or can you just put the answers? How would people on here giving you just the answers help if you have to credit the information? Or would it be enough to say you got your answers on a forum?

Did you look at the link for desexing? That link contains the information on specific instruments, premed and anaesthesia
-
Did you look at my links? All the information is in them apart from the role of the vet nurse :)

http://www.kvh.com.au/pyometra.html http://www.karingalvet.com.au/Pet-Care/Dog-Care-/Desexing-of-the-female-dog.asp http://www.midlandvet.com.au/pet-info-details.php?catid=2&id=80 Those contain the answers for 1,2 and 3
-
OK first search pyometra and find out the surgery that is performed, then search for that surgery (it is routine and easy to find information about if you haven't studied it yet) - that should tell you the specialised instrument at least, probably the anaesthetic and premed as well.
-
Surely a quick search or a call to a vet would get your answers? Role of vet nurse in surgery - you haven't studied that yet? ETA: If you look up what Pyometra is and the surgical way of dealing with it, some of the answers are obvious if you know your routine surgeries such as specialised instruments

Dog Food Available For Rescue
Kavik replied to Kavik's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Yep it is still available :) Let me know when you want to pick it up and I can PM you my address -
Thanks skip! Yes OH gets to look after the kids now when I trial, makes for a much more relaxing time! Can't wait to see you - how is your Kelpie pup going? Can't wait to meet her!

I was given some dog food today, they said it was Pro Plan which I sometimes use but when she brought it to me it was Supercoat Large Dog which I don't use (as one dog has allergies) so I have a large bag of Spercoat Large Dog available for rescue if there is anyone interested. I am located in Sydney's north, near Hornsby.

I am going! Very excited! It will be our next trial. Went to the triple jumping fundraiser trial today - our first time in Masters Jumping! I was a bit nervous about how we would handle the difficulty level but we had a great time! 2nd place qually and 2nd place NQ (separate heights)! What a good boy Kaos!

Yep a Malinois! Lovely looking dog!

Can't you just show up with the paperwork on the day? -
Ziggy's Training -not Responding To Me
Kavik replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I'd rather my dogs have more value for me and for what we are training than for interacting with other dogs, especially if that interaction is not appropriate at times. I find I am able to give my dogs plenty of interaction and stimulation from training activities on walks and in training classes, without going to a dog park :) Kaos occasionally gets to run with friend's dogs who I know well, but never with a large group of random dogs at a park. -
Dog Allergy Vet Disappointment Again!
Kavik replied to booge's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm finding that washing Diesel frequently is helping (once a week or once a fortnight depending on my time - with Malaseb) - at least to keep it to a bearable level. I think also this helps to keep good airflow through his coat by getting rid of the dead coat (bath and brush) which I also thinks makes a difference.
