  1. In the daycares I've seen and the one I worked at, a poodle in show trim would get its coat ruined. The dogs chew on each other in play, wrestle, poo and wee on the floor (the one I worked at was all inside), get wet etc.
  2. Now that you are in Recallers - have you checked out the Focus For Work section? Under FFW there is a page called A Makeover of Bad Habits which has a link to a video clip on the use of NRM (non reward markers). The video shows Susan working 2x2 weaves with Swagger, with the same problem as you are having at the moment. Might give you some ideas.
  3. Yes the issue is multiple people being logged in at the same time.
  4. I don't think sharing accounts is allowed, and you may get into trouble if accessing from two computers at the same time.
  5. The course has nothing to do with agility. It is about relationship building, drive building, recall, and self control, so is suitable regardless of your aim :) There are a couple of games which would be really useful for obedience in terms of heel position.
  6. I didn't say that asking the price upfront is important. I am getting a puppy in April, and the first phone call we talked about the suitability of his dogs for what I wanted to do - agility. I talked about what I do and what sort of dog I was interested in and that I had seen videos of his dogs and liked them. It was only at the second call when I asked about other practical things such as registration, vaccination, microchipping and price (this being a WKC reg dog, not all of them microchip their dogs before selling). The price was withing the range I expected from watching several websites in the breed where they do state the price openly. I think it has to do with the breed of dog and people they are selling to and the culture surrounding this.
  7. The DVD of the games will not be sold, she has said she prefers the online format rather than instructional DVDs. I think all of her courses are likely to be online from now on. With Contact Success we were able to post videos and get feedback, but I think last time with Recallers it was only questions, not sure what it will be this time with Recallers since Contact Success was the most recent course, we may be able to post videos, I'm sure we'll find out. It was great to see student videos and see what other people were doing. Questions on the site get answered by Susan and Lynda and also other students, sometimes it is helpful if a student has had a similar struggle and can give hints or encouragement. I went to a seminar of Susan's in 2010 - my first experience of her training methods. It was great! But a huge amount to take in and it was hard to remember everything even with notes. I found that the online courses were easier for me in that you can read the instructions and watch the videos many times over so you don't miss things, and you can concentrate on watching for the mechanics, or listening to what she is saying, or watch what the dog is doing. It will be great to see you all in the course!
  8. Not sure when content goes up on the site, my guess is Monday. ETA: Actually we might get some pre-course homework before then, I think that's what happened last time
  9. The basic membership has access for 4 months, so you can take your time to get through the content. More space is handy for some of the running type games, but you can do some in limited space or inside. You can do them at the park if you need more space than your yard.
  10. A lot of breeders of my breed state the price on their website.
  11. Recallers is mostly about relationship building games, drive and impulse control so would help with distractions and keeping focus around other dogs. You can do most of the games with food only, there are a couple that require tug but you don't have to do them if your dog won't tug. Tugging is greatly encouraged, and there will be a section specifically on tugging if you want to give it a shot. My dog would not tug reliably when I started the course, and now he tugs really well at home (still not great away from the yard, but for the games in the yard he is awesome!). On my list of things to improve is our tugging transitions into/out of work, tugging outside the yard, and speed up our retrieve.
  12. Have you contacted the NDTF? http://www.ndtf.net.au/ndtf/index.php They are based in VIC and I think from memory they have helped on cases with dangerous dog declarations before.
  13. Check out Clean Run - they have heaps of toys! http://www.cleanrun.com/ Kaos particularly likes the Squiggle It and the Wild Thing Bungee Ring.
  14. I only did the cheapest option last time :) My username on Recallers is also Kavik, feel free to follow me if you wish (once you get the hang of navigating the site) :)
  15. There are a few reasons I want to do Recallers again. 1) It is great for inspiration and motivation to try new things and mix up my training 2) To be able to rewatch the videos and make sure I am doing the games correctly - that my mechanics are correct in case I have forgotten or gotten lazy with them 3) To do a better job at those games I had difficulty with the first time 4) To see how far I have come since last time and push myself (Susan said there will be extra bits for returning Recallers) 5) To see what extra games/features will be included 6) To get help with games/things I have difficulty with and to help others who are having difficulty with something I also struggled with before 7) It is fun! ETA 8) Really try hard to record keep this time! (I am really bad at record keeping!) There are people signed up to Recallers 4 for whom it is the 4th time they have taken the course!
  16. Registration is open! Less than I quoted for the lowest level of membership. http://r4.brilliantrecalls.com/fe/43335-register-for-recallers-40
  17. Last time I think it was 5 new games a week for 7 weeks, course access is probably longer than that, I can't remember  All of the options, prices and what is included will be shown when course registration opens up. I don't know all of the details. She is very good at letting you know what is included in each package. One thing that is quite cool I think is that if you pay for it once, you can get free entry the next time if you enter the video competition.
  18. Not sure of the cost yet - should be open for registration very soon and the pricing will show then. I have access to the site (no content yet) since I got in through the video competition. Last time it was $400 I think for the most basic option.
  19. I liked the Whippet :) Every year the Spring Fair agility is held on the GSD grounds along with the GSD specialty so I get to see the show GSDs strut their stuff every year :)
  20. None of mine have needed one after desexing, however Diesel is a dog that tends to 'worry' things, so that irritations which are small very quickly (as in the space of hours or overnight) then become disasters as he chews huge holes in himself! I have an elizabethan collar for him for such occasions.
  21. Looks like an awesome GSD to me DD!
  22. I just remembered Silvia Trkman also has a set of DVDs, some look really interesting, I haven't seen them though, maybe when I have more money  http://www.lolabuland.com/training-videos/ Her new foundations one about to come out
  23. Firstly, I would say that if she is a bit scared of other dogs you don't want to push it too much - you don't want to take her to a park where it is a free for all and the dogs are rough, as she could get more scared and possibly aggressive. Not all dogs want to be friends with all other dogs or want to play with other dogs. Also, different breeds have different play styles and some breed play styles mix better than others. Some breeds play very rough and tunble and wrestle and others don't like body contact. What breed is your dog?
