  1. Migaloo is also featured in the April DogsNSW gazette (although they use a stock standard Lab picture instead of a picture of Migaloo herself)
  2. You are not wrong. It is great that he turned away from that dog instead of having a go at it, he is telling you he isn't comfortable meeting it, and I would respect his wishes on this. They don't have to like every dog, or even meet every dog. The important thing IMO is that they can work around other dogs, not whether they want to meet or play with them.
  3. I think you can also purchase DVDs from the WKC?
  4. He is gorgeous! He is over double what my Kelpie pup weighed when I brought him home
  5. There is a lot you can work on without equipment, with a young or beginner dog (or even an advanced dog) that help a lot with agility, such as body awareness, recall work, speed exercises, sending to a toy or food, shaping various tricks. Plus they are a lot of fun :)
  6. There are lots of working line BCs around :) Vickie and DeltaCharlie would be good people to talk to regarding the various lines around.
  7. I have shedding breeds. The GSD coat does my head in sometimes - never looks great even if I brush him regularly, sheds heaps (a whole dog's worth every week!), he has skin problems, gets hot spots and smells. Not keen to do that again! The Kelpies are much easier to look after - bath and brush once a month and that's pretty much it! They always look good too. Kaos has the least coat and is the easiest to look after.
  8. I think garden trellis/fencing type stuff would work - small low fencing.
  9. Thanks guys! He is certainly a cracker of a dog! Going to teach me a lot as well I know!
  10. Sorry it took so long but here are some videos of Nitro! Still need to resize the photos so video will have to do for now!
  11. That happened in a couple of runs at my last trial  - I didn't think he would even look at the tunnel, but he saw it alright
  12. My dog very rarely knocks bars, it is much more often something that gets us DQ such as off course obstacles
  13. I normally describe it as an obstacle course, and list the easy to describe obstacles such as jumps, tunnels and ramps.
  14. A qualifying round is a clear round (ie no faults) that is under the standard course time. Here are the rules for ANKC agility http://www.ankc.org.au/Rules.aspx
  15. I've found it much easier to keep my GSD at a good weight now that I've switched to a raw diet (kind of forced to when his spleen twisted and had to be removed! The dry food the vet recommended after that I had to feed ridiculous amounts of and he was still too thin!). The Kelpies are much easier to keep condition on!
  16. My previous dog had vestibular disease when she became older, first time took a week to recover, longer the second time, it is very scary to watch, I also thought she wouldn't be coming home when I saw her.
  17. sorry to go OT, but YOU HAVE A NEW PUPPY? Please point me to the pictures... Yes I have a puppy  I have to resize the photos first, might have video up before then, I find that easier
  18. With the crate, I am currently training my new puppy and throw some of his food into the crate every time he goes in there. Now he runs into the crate when he knows it is that time, very funny
  19. I'll keep an eye on your progress DiscoDobe and wish you luck with your running contacts :) I have to decide what I am going to teach my new pup in terms of contacts! Not sure yet at this stage.
  20. He's here! I picked up Nitro on Saturday from Cowra. He is so AWESOME! Went to a trial on Sunday and saw lots of people and dogs and got a good start with some training with the help of friends. Photos to come - I am a hopeless photographer.
  21. Have you tried giving the release cue, wait a second and then move (ie you run!)? You can start out with a lure (food or toy) in your hand when you move and reward with that once she moves. Once she is releasing with your movement try to test it by giving the release cue and staying still to see if she understands. Obviously a big party if she does!
  22. When I had issues with Kaos leaving the ring I told the judges the problem I was having and asked if it was OK if I shortened or simplified the course, and all the ones I asked were OK with that. With my new puppy I am hoping to cultivate a good tug so I can make use of ADAA NFC runs, which I couldn't with Kaos who won't tug at agility.
