  1. The infin8 has the lead attached to a martingale at the back of the neck and the noseband doesn't tighten, the training halter has the lead attached to the noseband which does tighten.
  2. Manly and Districts train at Allan Border Oval, Mosman on Tuesday evenings http://www.northernbeachesdogtraining.com.au/index.htm
  3. I had a treat ball ages ago - it got broken pretty quickly! I think I only had Zoe at the time and she pulled some of it apart, I never left her alone with it, I could see the jaw getting stuck! Meal times here are also quiet - each dog gets fed in its crate. Zoe is food possessive with other dogs, and Diesel is a very slow eater! (who lies down to eat ).
  4. My friend has had it done on her boy and she says he has become much quieter and less grumpy with other dogs.
  5. You want something moist and smelly I use cheese, cabanossi also works well as does chicken
  6. Ok just looked up rules for BH - we are not ready to do that! Diesel makes noise when left alone on a tie out for a little while for one thing and he is a friendly sticky beak with people Would need a LOT of work with distractions! http://www.sportdogaustralia.com/info/AUSC_BH_Rules04Fv1.pdf
  7. Do I need to be registered anywhere? Do you have the rules somewhere?
  8. Yeah the prizes are impressive! Go on, do Divani's BH!
  9. Maybe two organisations? http://www.national2008.sportdogaustralia.com/
  10. Who is going to the IPO Nationals this year? 12 and 13 July Castle Hill Showground I'm hoping to go. OH really enjoyed the last one we went to (despite the rain!) so is as close to enthusiastic as he gets about going to a doggy event I'm hoping the weather is better this year though!
  11. Very nice! I just have a question on the seek back. What do they have to do? You drop an article and they find it? Do they have to go in a particular pattern?
  12. Does your pup like toys? These can be great motivation for training. I use cheese as treats, the dogs love it Also I have found GSDs really like a good pat and scratch as a reward (more than my Kelpies who would sell their soul for food!). Diesel loves a chest rub!
  13. What do you do when she chases her tail? Can you distract her from it? Tail chasing is not a habit you want to encourage, some can get obsessed with it. How much stimulation, walking, training does she get? Maybe with more to do, or a kong with peanut butter etc in it she will decide there are more fun things to do.
  14. If you still want professional help I second going to K9 Force, he has a lot of experience in dealing with aggression issues
  15. Leerburg is good, I think they have a working puppy DVD? The Building Drive and Focus one is good too. Look at the thread on drive training in the training forum, should give you some hints for that. I'm not sure how much you could do on your own? Obedience and maybe tracking (or a tracking club) but the character test? There are two clubs in QLD. Now my geography is not good but here are the details anyway Brisbane Sporting Dog Club Inc. 16. Dogs are not obligate carnivores like cats. I voted for omnivore, but now thinking I have changed my mind to carnivore, just not obligate!
  17. I have only taught balancing food on nose to adults. Then I release and they throw and catch the food in their mouth. Good to have basic behaviours down pat first Besides, you need a sit and stay and the dog not to move, that isn't going to happen with an 8 week old puppy! I would work on basic obedience first, sit, stay, recall, toilet training etc.
  18. I feed dry and chicken frames from the ground. Diesel is a pretty relaxed eater though - he lies down! One of his relatives I looked after for a while was a stresshead (not socialised) and I worried she might get bloat as she tended to look uncomfortable after eating.
  19. Looks good! How did you train it?
  20. Do you have a video of yours?
  21. No real reason I run too - I didn't used to, but then thought if I am doing this to help with distance work in agility (as opposed to an exercise on its own for obedience etc) I am not always going to be standing in the same spot afterwards. I have been working on it since he was a pup, but took a break from it for a while, started back on it a few months ago. 40 paces is now our standard run, now trying to increase it.
  22. I guess people don't think teaching your dog to run away from you on command is as interesting as teaching it to come to you It actually took quite some time to get this distance and speed!
  23. Hi guys Been a while since I posted a video, so here's one I took yesterday of Kaos doing a send away at 40 paces. Enjoy!
  24. Western Suburbs trains at Bressington Park, Homebush http://www.sinch.com.au/wsdtc/
