  1. Why do you want the dog to drop? 2o2o generally means the dog stands with 2 front feet on the ground and 2 back feet on the contact obstacle.
  2. Have you done lots of shaping? What about shaping it is giving you problems - what will she do while you are shaping it? I'm sure it would be easier for the club if everyone does the same thing (though I'm not sure xwhat they are trying to teach with this ultimately? 4 on the floor? Obviously you have to fade the carpet at some point) but personally I would hope that a club would be flexible enough to allow me to choose the contact behaviour I feel is more suitable for my dog and myself.
  3. Had an exciting result at Spring Fair on Saturday - quallie and 1st place in JDX! We had a quallie at Deer Bush in JDX last week that was also a 1st place! (didn't find out til later as I had someone pick it up for me so I didn't stay late with bubs). Am quite impressed with Kaos as I wasn't sure we'd be able to beat the 500 dogs in all heights competition.
  4. Sounds like you have it sorted re his health and agility which is good. I love Schipps - a black one should be fine
  5. Yes you can do agility just for fun After the operation, will your Pug be able to do vigorous types of exercise? Agility can be quite strenuous. With a Pug I would be careful with exercise as temperatures increase. Agility people are generally quite friendly and helpful
  6. It was great to meet you to stonecutter, glad I could help you Japanese Spitzes are very cute. I am sure you will have lots of fun.
  7. JoeK lopolla is in Victoria, where the use of prong collars is banned.
  8. The weesaw is the nickname for the new small height seesaw that is coming in next year
  9. You are also not supposed to breed them (companion animals act)
  10. Interesting Jeff. Here the price of working line GSD and Mals are pretty similar from the research I've done.
  11. Maybe they need them to be lighter/more agile for sniffer dogs?
  12. That would be great! All of my doggy friends live so far away.
  13. I'll be there Saturday for agility but not Sunday - bummer! You are welcome to bring her Sat too though
  14. I'll take Fury More seriously, Goldens and Labs are different and I agree with PF about the differences generally
  15. Mr Murphy is awesome! Love that clip
  16. I saw a new height seesaw on the weekend - looked very odd being that small Didn't give it a go (probably should have) will be interesting to see what Kaos thinks of it.
  17. Max - as Vickie pointed out in her post - good idea to stay away from dog parks if your dog can be reactive. Why stress your dog out by going?
  18. Yep KTB I would alsp start with a wobble board and bang game. You can make a wobble board by putting a ball or piece of wood or pvc pipe under a plank. Also a good idea if you know what behvaiour you want - I assume 2o2o on your contact? wobble board Here are some examples of the bang game
  19. MonElite is correct Matthew.
  20. You didn't answer my question about the guarding breeds - there are a lot of breeds that have been and are used for guarding/security/protection/police and others that have historically been used for dogfighting. APBT do not have the monopoly on being used for some activity that used aggression.
  21. What is your aim? "Heel" may be the command you are using, but the goal of people with having their dog at heel varies. For pet people (and security etc) heel is walking by left side without pulling, for competition it is much more precise, and I would teach the precision heeling for competition a different way than walking without pulling. So a lot will depend on what your goal is.
  22. I would think there would certainly be clubs around that would allow you to train on a halti as more clubs are not allowing the use of check chains. At higher levels or for competition (if you plan to do that) you would need to consider how you want to wean off the halti as you cannot use one in competition and some clubs may want them off for promotion to the higher classes. I am sure someone will give you names of clubs
  23. More than the tool, the important thing is your timing and what method you are using, and your use of rewards/correction. Was your obedience at a club? What is your aim - pet manners, competition? Did you like the behaviour of the dogs in the higher levels/the trainer's dogs? Do you like the way they train? There are many things to consider :D
  24. Matthew You are aware that there are many breeds that have been and are bred for guarding/protection/security purposes? And other breeds that were used for dogfighting?
