  1. Exactly. I'm sure there are track bred greys out there living comfortable lives with trainers, but no amount of wonderful treatment of any or all of these dogs will EVER justify the fact that thousands and thousands of 'surplus' track bred greyhounds will continue to be killed year after year after year. No matter by what means they are killed, the plain outrageous fact is, that thousands will be killed, and nothing can ever justify that. For our greed, entertainment and viewing pleasure :mad
  2. yes, legit! I can hear the conversations at cafe footpaths across the nation as people discuss their PooPoos. On the down side I'm not sure how I'll cope when they start calling the salon to book their PooPoos in for a bath and trim. I guess I should start working on a breed trim......
  3. Your post once again brings up my stellar idea to breed PooPoos. The idea is to breed Poodles to Poodles, take part of the name from each breed, and voila! PooPoos at twice the price of a regular old Poodle. Marketing genius. Can you imagine the sum for a Chocolate PooPoo?? A Parti PooPoo?? A Blue PooPoo??? People are absolutely dumb enough to fall for it and genuinely think they have a new 'breed'.
  4. Both charged with unlawful possession of fire arm, the woman also charged with obstructing police, both bailed to appear in the same court again on May 1st.
  5. Personally I think in the 21st century any form of sport where animals are trained to perform for no other reason than human greed and entertainment is repulsive. Among the tens of thousands of racing greyhounds across the country i'd hazard a guess that only a tiny percentage are waking up inside a nice warm home this morning. Most of them will be waking up in a tiny concrete cell with a sack bed and a coat on if they're lucky. For our greed, entertainment and viewing pleasure.
  6. Any of the small trimmers that are rechargeable/ cordless that sit in a recharging station can be used plugged directly into mains as well. Just put the cord directly into the clipper instead of the recharging station. Most small trimmers seem to have gone up in price. If you were just using them for face feet etc on puppies, the Wahl BravMini would probably suit. It just has the one fine blade equivalent to 15/30 blade length. Places like petnetwork or clipper world could sort you out with a small rechargeable clipper. Also hairdresser supply stores stock stuff like this but some of them are wholesale only.
  7. Fantastic news. You need to take a lot of credit for noticing he was unwell and taking immediate action. Well done, a great outcome to a potentially heartbreaking situation.
  8. Thanks. Glad to hear he is well.
  9. Dalmation Labrador Other that spring to mind in that size range with short coats are Harrier, German Pinscher, Smooth Fox Terrier
  10. Lol he scrubs up ok in a Poodle trim!
  11. I hope your boofer continues to improve. Thank goodness you acted when you did. I can't take any credit, if I didn't tell you about grapes I'm sure someone else here would have! It's been on my mind today though, and I think I will write up a post for my grooming salon FB page to remind more owners of this danger.
  12. Yes see you are a great dog mum. You noticed a problem, sought advice, and acted completely the right way to that advice! It sounds like the vets are completely on the ball and doing everything right for him. Now just a fingers crossed waiting game. I'm pretty sure everyone you meet now will know not to feed grape products to dogs, so some good has come of it already! Everything crossed for you. And we'll done for acting so swiftly.
  13. And yes, you're not a bad mum. If you didn't know, you didn't know! You do know now so you can step up and be the best mum.
  14. I just been reading a bit about grape toxicity in dogs, and I'm afraid to say, but you might just have a problem on your hands. From what I can gather vomiting is the first symptom, and the sooner support treatment for kidney damage begins, the better. I reckon I'd be off to the vet.
  15. And remember although the grape link seems obvious, it could be something else entirely. Good luck.
  16. Yep grape and raison are a big no no for dogs. I don't know if it's accumulative or not so I'd be consulting with a vet about symptoms and whether veterinary intervention is advised.
  17. why did your dog have grapes? Do you know they are toxic for dogs? How much grape did he eat? Is grape eating a once of or a regular thing? The grapes may or may not be significant or not but certainly worth investigation. I think it causes renal failure and can be potentially fatal if the particular dog is very sensitive. Is be consulting a vet.
  18. Perhaps go to one of those storage solution shops and see if there is a retro fit for a cupboard bin. Like rails or sliders or a bracket or something so that a bin or just a bag can be fitted into a cupboard. There are really neat ones that slide out or swing out. They make the most of the available space.
  19. I used to keep mine in a cupboard too, now it's just me and I don't have much rubbish, I just have a tiny bench top one and put rubbish in the outside bin each morning.. My morning ritual is take small rubbish bag out of bench top bin, go out and do poo patrol using a nappy bag, put tied nappy bag in small rubbish bag, tie off, and put in rubbish bin.
  20. I hereby rename him master pricklebottom ❤️
  21. I guess it is possible that it's congenital, although I have never herd of it. My guess would be that although removal was attempted, it wasn't done properly, and the nails re formed. That is quite common. Ask your breeder about inheritance though, could be interesting!
  22. How old were your dogs when you got them? And if they were babies, did you notice right away, or once they got a bit older? It is not that uncommon for them to grow back after " removal" if the procedure isn't done effectively.
