  1. Thanks so much leema... Great info.. Some I have been trying and others to look at to. I have been rapt with how quickly she has settled in to her new home and also how eager and quick she is to learn during training.. I just want to make sure I get it right so I don't let her down Thanks heaps
  2. Thanks so much Persephone.. Just been having a read of both.. and it's good to know not alone.. Just been reading old comments on this issue Will hang in there and keep consistent training. I'm not a first time dog owner my old dog was never a nipper... So although I know the behaviour exists have been at a loss on how to stop it quickly!!!! Thanks again
  3. Hi everyone, need some advice. Our 11 week old stafford has the usual puppy biting issues! From the day we got her we have been trying to train in bite inhibition... We have tried the yelp and walk away. Initially we get a response as she stops and hates it when we walk off and leave her. We also give her chew toys during play so she dosent bite us! We have been consistent in our approach. So far she has learnt to sit and do small stays and can also drop and roll. We can't seem to shake the bites though... Every time we sit with her it starts again and it really hurts!!!!My question is are we doing the right things and at what age will this start to stop.? Is there anything else we can do? We have a 4 year old child also so want to make sure we get it right...btw she is totally gorgeous but those fangs hurt. Any advice would be really appreciated.
  4. Thanks everyone for the advice... And I will check out both links too! Really appreciate you all taking the time to respond. Last night I actually made her dry bikkies into a mince and froze it for part of her meal this morning. She must have loved it as it is all gone! Although I already have a medium size I might also get the large just in case Thanks
  5. Thanks so much everyone you have given me awesome tips I really appreciate it!
  6. Thanks littlesev. I got the toughest I could only cause I believe staffs are very good chewers. I just tried it out with a bit of peanut butter..... So far she has barked at it rolled and chased it chewed it and pawed at it! Now she has just flung it away and is doing crazy laps around the lounge instead....
  7. Oh gosh smooch that's not good. Thanks for letting me know good t hear all I can. Want to beat the boredom for her but safely obviously
  8. Hi I got mine from our local pet supply shop. It says on the packaging that it's medium and it is called kong extreme. Hopefully it is.... Maybe they have improved the formula. The shop actually told me that another brand made them and they offered full warrantee on them had lifetime guarantee . Can't remember the name of that, but I did decided to go with kong as I had heard of it before
  9. Thanks for your reply Lisey! The kong I have says medium and it the extreme the toughest formula... It isn't a puppy one it says it is for power chewers ( oh man and she certainly is) although confusingly it also says down the bottom that power chewers may need to upsize... Assume that's when she's bigger? Thanks a lot....have been worrying as have had some time off with her but returning to work shortly and want to set her up best I can
  10. Hi everyoneI asked this question in another area but hadn't heard anything as yet so thought I should put it in puppy area. We have a neary 11 week old stafford and wanted to know if it was safe to use the small kong chew toy in our absence away from home or should it be supervised and only used when we are home. Also it says to put peanut butter in it.....will this be okay? Trying to think of some new things for her to entertain herself for the times we aren't around. Thanks
  11. My young son wanted to call our dog 'Hooray'....imagine, it would sound like we are having a party every day! So it is her unofficial middle name
  12. Oh they are beautiful Stan's mum....Stan is divine...couldn't stop giggling reading this!
