  1. Oh my goodness - Arnold is adorable ... look at that gorgeous wrinkly face! All the other babies are adorable too!! I haven't posted here in a little while - Banjo is now 17 weeks old and weighs just over 2kg - I think he must be one of the tiniest puppies in this thread!! He is no longer the shy quiet little creature that he once was. We have renamed him "Devil Dog" and last Sunday was "Satan Sunday" - after he was a little devil ALL day and took himself off to bed at 6.30pm and slept through to 4.30am! He had quite worn himself out! Must post another photo.
  2. I've been using Angels Eyes on my maltese boy who is 16 weeks - he had slight tear staining when he was very little but I have been using it every morning - 1/8 teaspoon mixed in with his breakfast and he has a lovely clean white face - ingredients are sweet potato, brown rice and tylosin and tartrate (not really sure what that is)
  3. Banjo has his first visit to the beauty salon this afternoon - I am so nervous!!! He is such a bundle of energy this morning I am going to ask the groomer if under all that fluffy white coat they find his OFF switch can they show me where it is!
  4. Given that my boy is still only a puppy (13 weeks) he is still trying to decide whether I am serious about him having to go outside in the mornings .... although I am currently ensuring that he does by actually picking him up and depositing him on the wet grass. Like redangel's Zoe, he gingerly tiptoes around the edges of the yard where it is least wet/cold and scouts out the best spot, before doing what he has to do and bolting back inside. This is the point where he usually eyes me from the edge of his indoor pee pad with eyes that say "really, couldn't I have gone HERE where it's warm and dry??"
  5. Oh this really makes me aware of how tiny my little one is. He's 16 weeks old and 2.15 kilo  Wow - me too - Banjo is 13 weeks and weights 1.98kg !!
  6. The vacuum cleaner didn't bother Banjo - I had hubby play with him in our family room while I used the vacuum in the furtherest room and he came running to see what all the noise was! I thought that was a sure thing to scare him. I guess I should start using the cooktop more often to he gets used to it.
  7. Oh Banjo is also known as "Hoover" from time to time as a result of his tendency to sit very close by in the kitchen in a hope for escaping food particles which he hoovers up quite nicely - it's just the sizzling that seems to get to him - tonight I cooked a piece of pork in the oven and when I took it out it was still sizzling and spattering - he took off and wasn't seem for at least an hour or so - despite the fact that his usual place at the human's dinner time is quietly beside our chairs hoping to be rewarded for good manners - but not tonight!
  8. Banjo had a big weekend this weekend - third session at puppy preschool yesterday and his first official doggy visitor with my mums dog Monty - which seemed to go really well while Banjo was the ever ready bunny and chasing Monty but once Monty found his confidence and chased Banjo around he didn't was to know about it and sought refuge on my lap with his back to the entire room! Perhaps after a couple more visits Banjo won't be such a scaredy cat! Is there anything that really scares your puppies?? The one thing that I have really noticed that seems to spook Banjo and send him off to his crate my our bedroom and not come out is if I am cooking using the cooktop - you know something like schnitzel or rissoles - something that there is a bit of sizzle sound with - he seems to really hate it - and it makes me feel really bad and find I am avoiding cooking using the cooktop ..... or is Banjo was hyper sensitive ... we had the water spray bottle thing last weekend too (see thread re petrified puppy). I really want to bring up a confident and well adjusted pup - so I am hoping that these are just minor hiccups along the way!
  9. Oh My Cassie - Sumo looks like a big cuddle bear - and look at those eyes! Even though the eyes aren't straight on to the photo I can see how I wouldn't be able to resist them! 11.5 weeks - how much does she weigh? Banjo is 13 weeks and hasn't reached 2kg yet aa- LOL!
  10. Oh my gosh - that's sooooo adorable! Looks, like he had a hard day in the office!!!
  11. You are probably right Aliwake ... it's Friday afternoon and my brain is in slow down mode for the end of the working week .... it probably is Advocate. I seem to recall something about the Advocate not covering tapeworm now too! Thanks for the link to the table ... will go take a look. What about ticks? I don't think ticks are a real concern in my area, but still, if I take Banjo to dog parks there's often some bushland etc around so possibly still a risk.
  12. Banjo was due to be wormed yesterday .... he got his tablet this morning ..... just a half because he's just under 2kg now, but I too find it confusing. I took him to the vet a couple of days after he arrived because he had a couple of fleas (icky!) and they gave me Advantage for puppies - the one that you put on the back of their neck - and said that as well as fleas it took care of all worms too. Then when he had his 12 week vaccinations the vet also gave me the worming tablet ... something starting with M, can't remember the name of it. So, now I am confused, do I give one or the other, or both?? Rang the vet and the girl said it would be fine to use both coz you want to keep any fleas under control as well ..... but I don't want to double dose him with worm treatment Good thing -puppy preschool tomorrow morning is at the vet clinic so am taking all my stuff with me and asking again. Also wanna check coz Banjo does the butt scooting thing too .... isn't that a sign of worms?? Hope not!! As Aliwake said - every 2 weeks until 12 weeks, then once a month till 6 months then 3 monthly. Welcome Dory - I have been following you in the other thread .... Willow is adorable! Look forward to following her progress :)
  13. Banjo had his first "visitor" this morning ... there is a fellow who walks his very excitable about 2-3 year old Cavalier "Hector" who used to come and visit Winston and still stops and wants to come and play and can't understand why Winston doesn't come out Anyway, hubby is home so he popped in and Banjo just adored having a visitor and now that Hector has left, Banjo is just sitting by the door  Funny, because at puppy preschool he just wants to hid behind me and not play with the other pups Can't wait until we can take him out properly and meet and greet.
  14. I've noticed Banjo has humped a couple of his toys - he seems to do it when he's really excited about playing .... so I am putting it down to that and as long as it doesn't become a real problem will probably let it go. Like Tank, he also loved biting my toes and feet - I crated him last night too, just to give my feet a rest!!!
  15. Hmmm - I will be watching here because my baby Maltese is going to the groomer for his first puppy cut next weekend and is not too happy about wearing a coat/jumper either .... might try the treat/feeding trick and see if it works for him
  16. We bought a collar for Banjo the day after he came home and put it on him - he objected quite strongly but we just ignored it and after about half an hour he was used to it - his collar stays on all the time - it's only lightweight. He doesn't like the lead much though and like Tank wants to carry it around in his mouth but we have only been walking around the house and backyard - he is much better when we are at puppy preschool - I think because there are lots of other things for his attention rather than just the lead - so I am hoping next week once he is "safe" to take out for a walk he will walk nicely. Not sure what the answer is for Tank - maybe you could spray some of that nasty tasting stuff on his lead to deter him from wanting to have it in his mouth??
  17. What an adorable little fellow! I don't think using a spray bottle is cruel - and in fact it was a method suggested in our puppy preschool class just last week ..... so I used it and I subsequently had a petrified puppy who went and hid until the next morning. I only used it twice and will not use it again - but if it's a method that works for you then I say go for it. It's not like you are physically disciplining your dog. I have also been using vinegar to clean up after my pup, but he loves the stuff ... he will come and lick the floors after I have wiped them over with straight vinegar! Seriously - what is with that
  18. I am very close to the Bungaribee Park and hope to take our Banjo there in the next week or two ..... once all his vaccinations are complete .... there is also a dog park at Rouse Hill - very nice one over there.
  19. Well Tyrion is just adorable! I thought I was in a minority having a little dog because so many here seem to have much larger dogs Melina - doesn't it seem that those amounts of food are so tiny, but Louis is also tiny - when we first brought Banjo home his food was being measured by teaspoons as well - I suppose because he leaves food in his bowl I worry that he is eating enough, but I guess when he is full he stops and just grazes - but having said that he has shown absolutely no interest in his breakfast this morning which is unusual for him. He seems happy enough and is playing like the crazy puppyy that he is but I just worry!
  20. +1 for PetPlan - my research was mainly here and so many people were singing their praises in comparison to other pet insurance so that was good enough for me What on earth is water intoxication??
  21. Melina - I am interested to know what you are feeding Louis since we both have tiny puppies and how,is he going eating? Our breeder had her puppies on ProPlan dry puppy kibble soaked in hot water along with ProPlan puppy tinned food. I have continued that but added some, poached chicken and Greek yoghurt and in the mornings he also gets a sprinkle of Angel Eyes to keep his eyes nice and clean. He gets breakfast about 4.30 - 5am and dinner about 6pm and if I can come home from work I will give him some lunch as well - other wise hubby will give him a snack when he gets home around 3pm. He eats most of it but there's always something left in his dish that I am inclined to toss - Maltese are grazers so I leave his food for him to come back to if he wants it. I just worry that he is getting enough.
  22. Hello Bjelkier - Tyrion looks adorable - is he a Samoyed as well? It's such a cute age - my Banjomis 12 weeks so but much between them (except in size I would imagine!!)
  23. He did a big pee right before we left home. He sleeps for hours so not worried about holding for a little bit longer! Only 30 more mins ! You certainly are brave!! Banjo used to sleep for hours at a time too but now he is getting a bit older - ie; all of 12 weeks LOL - he isn't sleeping as long during the day - but he sleeps right through the night which for us is from about 9pm until 4am. Did he make,it?
  24. Banjo has chucked a couple of times in the early hours of the morning and I was beside myself with worry .... this thread has allayed my fears and I am putting it down to just a puppy thing .... his vomit has mostly just been frothy biley stuff .... nothing of substance. He gets his breakfast at 4.30 though, so I am not getting up an earlier to feed him if it's an empty tummy! He always scoffs most of his breakfast down!
