I can't see it - it says I have to be a member. How are people going to win the dog? I hate the whole idea of people "winning" pets of any kind, and I actually thought it wasn't allowed ?? DOL'ers managed to help get a magazine to cancel their prize of a pet last year http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...c=58872&hl= Maybe post this in general too ?

Yep I was going to suggest crating the pup while in the car. Might help him settle.

Took this today when I was a bit bored! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mih6yVerl4c It isnt very good quality - I took it on my mums little digital camera and it seemed to get a bit dark when I uploaded it

Riley will get any meat, pasta and veggies which we have leftover from dinner. He loves them and its nice not having to waste anything

Is he any better with a softer brush?

Riley my Kelpie X used to do the jumping thing when he was younger when we were out on walks. He'd always seems to do it when we were about to cross a road - I think it was just due to excitement. What I did was when he jumped I took a step backwards. If he jumped up again, Id take another step backwards and so on. In the end he worked out that by jumping it was taking alot longer to get across the road, and that by sitting we got to cross the road a whole lot faster. I also made sure I was always calm (so I didnt excite him more) and I never gave up. We never crossed a road until he sat nicely and then he got praise and a treat. Now Riley's 6 and he tries to sit before we even get to the kurb Not sure if this is the same case with your pup, but Im sure some other people will come along with good advice.

Its kind of like a car shammy but for dogs. Soaks up alot more water than a towel would.

I have a pet hairdryer made by breville I think. Its quieter than normal hairdryers and has cooler settings. I find it great for the little dogs I get in for washing that are scared of the noise for the big dryer.

I ended up swapping vets after my old vet failed to diagnose something. I knew something was wrong so went to a different vet who picked the problem up straight away. It was to do with Riley's eyes and the new vet was very good at explaining things. I was in there for a good 45 minutes and he charged me half of what the last vet charged me for a 5 min consultation. Then he asked me to take Riley back for a quick check up the next week to make sure his eyes were improving - he didn't even charge me for that visit. I know that he's really in the job to help animals, not jsut for money like my previous vet and that was a big thing to me. I also love having a vet that will explain everything to me and not rush me out the door.

Did you end up getting a bath Norskgra?

I started to learn how to groom but after getting 5 matted dogs in a row I gave up and stuck to the washing. Luckily now all the dogs I get in for washing have all been in pretty good condition, theres been one or two exceptions that had a bit of matting, but all up Im luckily Ive got good clients. I dont think I could stand seeing dogs in such states - maggots etc.

I tell all my dog washing clients about priceless pets. They can't believe how much cheaper it is to buy from there compared to the pet shops.

Oh dear, Riley has doggles and a pair of space boots.
-
Riley did this too - I think it would be a natural reaction for any dog. I would put the doggles on Riley for 30 seconds and tell him to stay. Id then give him a treat and make a fuss. Then over the next few weeks I gradually extended the time until he would wear them around for 15 minutes. After that I gave up only because I found Riley didnt REALLY need them and that he could do without and be much happier.
-
Riley's doggles fit his head quite well. Maybe find somewhere where you can take your dog in to try them on first to make sure they're going to fit.
-
Riley has a pair. He'll wear them If I make him but he doesnt really like them. I thought they'd be great, but Ive been slack and have hardly ever used them
-
I just ordered a small one (it's for the cat) yesterday from here: http://www.clipperworld.com.au/shop/index....at&catId=18

I never thought about using one on a cat! I think I need one.

Riley gets motion sickness - but its genuine motion sickness, not anxiety. The vet gave us Maxalon tablets and they have worked wonders!
-
Not sure if Maxalon dosage is the same, but with that the vet told us to give Riley 1 tablet 1 hour before travel. Riley's 25kgs. We find half a tablet works fine though.

Maxalon tablets is the only thing that works for Riley, and it works everytime without fail now  Our vet suggested them. They're cheap as too.
