  1. Id recommend a Canon 350D or 400D. I've got a 350D and im very happy with it.
  2. I just give all my clients the priceless pets website address!
  3. I had a panasonic lumix which is a point and shoot before I got the SLR and that automatically blurred my backgrounds. Im not sure if I changed anything to get it like that though (it was a while ago!)
  4. I buy human grade, but my mum works at a butcher so we get a good price
  5. What type of camera do you have hopenfox?
  6. I know of people who give their dogs eggs whole - eg - with the shell I normally crack a egg into Riley's dinner once a week. I don't give him the shell though.
  7. Yep having the IS would make a big price difference. I have this one http://www.camerastore.com.au/Canon+EF+70%...USM-details.htm Im guessing its the old one. I've printed out pictures bigger than A4 which I took with that lens and they came out great.
  8. Does the Sigma lense have image stabilizer or equivilent ?
  9. I charge $20 for a bath and blow dry then they get their 5th visit for half price ($10) I do have some clients who's dogs are dead easy to wash and are quick to dry (eg - a boxer) so I only charge them $15. Im not a mobile washer, people bring their dogs to me. I used to pay $45 for someone to come out with a mobile hydrobath to wash Riley before I got my hydrobath. They wouldn't even dry him - just a quick towel dry (which does nothing for Rileys coat - he needs a good blow dry to get the hair out). I wouldn't pay that again, but I did back then as I didn't know anything about dog washing.
  10. All my pictures are saved as JPEG, but if Im going to edit one of them I open up the original and then save it as another name and then work on that one. I do that so I always have the original shot which hasn't been edited in any way. Im guessing by doing this im not really editing and saving alot, therefore wouldn't be loosing quality?? Going to have a read of that link now.
  11. Ive got a conmurra autofill hydrobath with twin tanks. I got my door put of the front of the bath (where you stand) as the two ends were going to be up against a bench and a wall and it just worked better for me like that room wise. I like having the twin tanks. If it was only going to be a little bit extra for twin tanks Id recommend paying the extra, but if it was alot then Id say not to worry. Mines not on wheels, but my bath stays in the same spot all the time.
  12. awww big hugs for Jack edited to fix up emoticon
  13. I use a Earthly Extracts shampoo that is supposed to help keep flys off dogs. That could be worth a try too.
  14. Yikes, I certainly wouldn't want that in my stomach. Poor Gomez. Least it's out now though. I have no idea what is though
  15. Can anyone explain RAW to me in simple terms?? I've been told before but it just doesn't stick and im still confused. ...Or can anyone provide any links which explains the RAW Format that is easy to understand for a learner Also , I was reading something the other day that said it is not recommended to leave photo's on your computer in JPEG format. It said its not so bad to shoot in JPEG, but to change the format once you download them onto your computer. I can't remember what format it recommended off the top of my head. Just wondering what format everyone saves their photo's as?
  16. I have no advice, but I just wanted to say that first photo is soooo cute! It's got a real "I didn't do it" look about it.
  17. Riley gets frothy bile after he's eaten grass. He doesn't do this very often though. He alwasy seems OK, and apparantly eating grass is normal.
  18. Riley gets biscuits in the morning and his actual meal at night. Quite often he leaves his biscuits until the afternoon before he'll eat them though.
  19. Nope, I've never fasted Riley. I personally don't really like the idea.
  20. Yeah most point and shoot cameras let you to take the picture while looking through the LCD. Everytime my mum picks up my camera (350D) she tries to take the photo looking through the LCD - just habit as her camera lets her do that.
  21. (Im not Freckles, but.... ) You have to look through the view finder to see the photo, you can't change it to work on the LCD screen . I don't think (But I could be wrong) that you'll get any SLR camera that will show the picture on the LCD.
  22. Those pics I posted earlier of the waterlillies & the crocodile were both taken with the 200mm lens on full zoom from a boat (no tripod) in Kakadu. I find that sometimes they aren't clear but the majority of the pics I take with it are fairly good. Now Im wondering if getting an IS lens would be a bit of a waste of (a lot ) of money :D . BTW none of my pics are ever photoshopped, all I ever do is crop a bit if I need to & resize them. Depends on what your going to use it for. I take alot of photo's at full zoom of moving objects, and I didn't find that the kit lens gave me really good results, the shots were ok, but never great. The new lens makes a massive difference. I used the kit lens for about a year until I bought my new one. I had planned a trip to Melbourne and really wanted the lens for then, so went and out splurged. It was expensive, but it will be the only lens Ill buy for a long time so that made me feel better ;) Re: photoshopping , I think theres limits. I'll edit backgrounds out of a shot (like I did on the gorilla photo I posted), but thats about as much photoshopping as I'll do. I don't like to change the photo too much as then it doesn't feel like I really took it! Ive just recently started using manual modes. Im always a bit reluctant to do it though incase I miss a really good shot because I stuffed the manual settings up
  23. I don't know anything about the Sigma so I can't help you there, but I do recommend the 50mm 1.8 for a good portrait lens. I still use my 18-55 kit lens alot though for general shots. My biggest problem with the 200mm kit lens was that I couldn't get very good shots at full zoom. I envy the last two shots that you took with it! Im always too lazy to cary a tripod around so need a lens with image stabiliser. Thats why I bought the canon 70-300 with IS for $900 earlier on in the year. I took these with the 70-300
