I have a assignment I need to do which is on the gestalt laws. I need to pick a subject, then take photographs of that subject using each of the gestalt laws. I understand the gestalt laws and have looked through examples of images taken using these laws, but Im completly lost as to how to take a photo of the same subject using the gestalt laws. If I had to pick a different subject for each law I could do it, but that isn't whats being asked. I know its a long shot but I thought Id ask here if anyone had any hints, tips or examples. Ive contacted the tutor, who sent me a few links, but Im still lost. Ive sent off another email to him but in the meantime I thought Id try here.

How Long To Take Off Work When You Have A New Puppy?
wagsalot replied to jeddica's topic in Puppy Chat
I didn't take any time off. We got Riley from the RSPCA on the Sunday morning, I had the Monday off as I worked Tuesday - Saturday. Tuesday I went back to work as normal. I had the same reason as Terrorbull - I wanted the pup to start off on my normal routine. I didn't want him to get used to me being home all day, only to turn around a week later and leave him by himself. -
My dryer was about $350 from memory - it has 2 settings high and low. Its a ezycoat one. I have a Conmurra Hydrobath autofill model which is quite a few years old now. I can't remember exactly how much it was but it was less than $2000 brand new. I bought it from Pet Barn. Im not sure what's going on with Conmurra now and whether they are still selling them though. Theres been quite a few hydrobath threads on here before which would be worth searching for and reading.

Least its easier to shoot I guess!

Least Chopper was running. I try and get Riley to run after a ball so I can take some shots and he just stands there staring at me

I personally think pet insurance is a bit of a rip off as they always seem to get out paying out via some clause in the terms and conditions. Instead of paying pet insurance I have a ING account set up which I put a certain amount in per week. Its there earning good interest, and is there for emergencies.

I haven't mananged to scratch the screen on mine yet. I've had it two years. I've looked after it, but haven't been pedantic. I think if your careful you wouldn't really need one ?

Twice a day. I give Riley biscuits in the morning. Sometimes he'll scoff them down straight away, and othertimes he won't touch until I get home from work. Then he gets his main meal at night.

Riley licks his paws. Normally he gets a bit of a allergy on his foot which makes it itchy so he starts licking it, then it turns into a anxiety thing. I found anything I put on his feet that was supposed to turn him off, made him lick it more. The vet gave me some cream though, so as soon as i see him licking I put the cream on and bandage the foot up for the night. The cream does its job and stops the itch and riley can't lick the cream off. I find I have to get the cream on it early before he licks it too much (and develops a habit) Luckily Riley is pretty good with the bandage though. He'll leave it on and won't try and remove it.

When I bought my 350D I didn't want to buy online either. I bought mine through Harvey Norman and managed to talk them down a fair bit in the price, and got them to chuck in a few things - I got a nice bag, and 1500 free photo prints. I bought memory cards, lens etc off the net.
-
One of the out of bounds images I did popped up on my photo screensaver the other day! Blast from the past!
-
Wow, I didn't think the 350D would get that price. Edited to add - I sold the 70-300 kit lens on ebay when I got my IS lens. I got $160 for it.
-
I want to get a 40D but the budget doesn't allow it! Especially as Id like to keep my 350d as well. Im determined that I'll win the lotto one day though!

I haven't found any ticks on Riley for about 3 or 4 years now. We went throught a period about that long ago where everytime he walked inside you could just see ticks crawling on him. I moved early December - my previous place backed onto the bush, the new place doesn't, however we have alot of possums around which could be carrying ticks. Little buggers those ticks are. Ive been a bit slack with checking Riley over for ticks lately, so this thread will give me a good kick up the butt and stop me from being lazy.

Pink Spot Has Developed On Ben's Nose
wagsalot replied to krash01's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I don't recall Riley's scabbing over or bleeding. It was red, turned white, then went black. I put vaseline on his nose to keep it moisturised. -
Pink Spot Has Developed On Ben's Nose
wagsalot replied to krash01's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Could he be still rubbing it on something, causing it not to heal? Riley's nose was very similar a while back. I had given him a bone and he scratched his nose trying to bury it. It healed in around 2 weeks though. -
I use a program called Id framer for all my frames as I found Photoshop too hard. Nat put me onto it and I love it. It cost about $40. I just downloaded the demo, then paid for it and they emailed me a code to put in to give me full access. Its great, I use it all the time. http://www.idimager.com/?page=idframer

Yep I was going to say Conmurra too.

I Have Great Gear, But My Pics Still Suck!
wagsalot replied to ruthless's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Our local community college does the same thing. I wonder if the course is exactly the same? I know the intro one is 8 hours, and the 2nd one includes a outing as well. I want to do the 1st one (it teaches about white balance etc that I need to learn), then do the 2nd one. I just have to find the spare money!
