  1. Absolutely not. Even if it's dog friendly accommodation, if it is the desire of the owners that dogs not get on the furniture then there's no way I'd allow it. It's people who think they are above the rules that have made it so hard to find decent accommodation when travelling with dogs.
  2. I believe it depends on the dog. Some of mine are happy to laze at home all day while we are at work. We share our home with our dogs and spend our free time doing things with them. As long as you are prepared to spend plenty of time before and after work with your dog, I'm sure all will go well. Good luck with your search
  3. Border Collies shed a LOT of hair seasonally.
  4. I remember your beautiful dogs. Glad you've made your way back to DOL.
  5. Thank you all for your kind thoughts. It never gets any easier, we're feeling the loss of her very keenly
  6. Ahh if you have to pay I'll continue to refrain from attending. They don't deserve a single cent.
  7. Does it cost money to participate in this? I've never done one.

    Angel.

With a broken heart I have to deal with not having my Angel girl here anymore. The house is just too quiet without her here. Why do they have to get old and leave us. She was always the life of the party, larger than life, into everything. It's just not the same without her here. I miss her so I made this a couple of years ago, but the photos int he clip show her personality so very well. Rest easy sweetheart, your mum and Webster will be waiting for you.
  9. Well they are the most amazing breed in the world Good luck with your search and may the perfect Border Collie for you be with you some day soon xx
  10. This! Well written DDD The OP wants a Border Collie and good on them! Great dogs, there WILL be one that suits their family and be a wonderful addition.
  11. One of my girls had an open pyometra last year. She was fine when I went to bed, when I woke up in the morning she was lying on the dog bed in my bedroom and was listless and wouldn't get up. Not like her at all. I check her gums and they were so white it was scary. Turned her over and ran my hand down her stomach and the worst discharge I've ever seen came out of her. It was an absolute nightmare and so stressful. She was on a drip in the vet to stabilise her before surgery. Luckily for us, she survived. In hindsight, she was a little quieter the day before, but ate her dinner and seemed normal otherwise, so little to no symptoms shown. It was horrifying.
  12. I disagree that an Australian Shepherd is a better match. They most certainly are not easier or less active than a Border Collie. Having spent a LOT of time with both breeds, I always get a shock when people make these comments. I would describe Aussies as more clown like in behaviour. To the OP, the key to a settled, happy Border Collie isn't just in the amount of exercise it gets. Make it a part of your family, include it in your daily activities, training and a walk every day and it will fit in beautifully with your family. They are definitely not a breed that thrives being left in a backyard with little interaction with their owners. I agree with others who say speak to some show breeders. A good breeder will be able to match the correct temperament to your family. I insist on a basic obedience corse for my first time Border Collie owners. Our breed is very clever and a knowledge of even basic obedience is better than nothing. A bored Border Collie will always find something to amuse itself and it is usually something that the owner wishes it hadn't done! Good luck with your search, I hope the perfect puppy finds its way to you
  13. I completely agree with this. One visit cannot possibly determine the correct temperament of a puppy in my opinion.
  14. oooo I'd love the leg covers. They'd help keep white legs WHITE!
  15. The Petshop Boyz quite often have 20% off and our Breeder Club members ALWAYS get 20% off. We are pretty awesome like that though
  16. Plush Puppy Pixie Dust Ahh thanks for that. Yes have heard of that product. I had visions of 70's disco glitter in the hair LOL
  17. Showing is about a lot more than structure though. Why else do people put glitter etc on their dogs for shows ? Dogs can have excellent structure and not be show winners. There ae a number of breeds (mals, bc's, Aussies etc) that have split working and show lines. Who uses glitter on their dogs in the show ring? Why on earth would someone do that? The mind boggles. Also, I agree that some breeds have distinct show vs working lines, however, in my breed (Border Collie) whilst there are two distinct lines, there are some show lines where the dogs excel at the highest level both in show and performance. Some of the best agility/obedience dogs are from top show kennels. Without doubt, the splits are there, but with research I believe a person could have the best of both worlds in most breeds.
  18. This. I've never found a snappy or timid Cocker ever.
  19. You have to fix allergies from the inside out. All the topical treatments in the world won't fix it if the diet is the thing causing the problems and I'm hazarding a guess after years of this, it is
