  1. Why do you say that? Because at the end of the day the colour means squat, I love the blue merle BCs, but if the right dog comes up, at the right time, and it happens to be a B&W...so what? I could get my pretty blue merle, and it could totally suck at agility, where as I could get a B&W who is from sporting lines and it might become a champion...I know there are no guarantees when it comes to breeding, but the right lines are at the top of my list A very wise way to go about things. I hope your perfect dog is out there for you when you're ready. :D
  2. Thats interesting - I was thinking that a false floor would work for a storage area but they have a trailer base worked out with drainage points so thats out. But maybe false roof with higher trailer. Love Rebanne's idea. Gear would be easy to get to, wish my trailer had it!
  3. Many thanks Bink. It's the old website that is up. A new one is in the works. Glad you enjoyed your visit xx
  4. Hi Bink. I'm one of those breeders who does not advertise price on my website. I find it encourages potential buyers to email me and gives me an opportunity to talk to them about my dogs, price included. For the record, I charge $950 for a puppy. I find it sad that some would be unhappy at you asking the price of a puppy. Of course it matters, it matters a great deal. I hope you find that perfect dog for you.
  5. There are some breeders now breeding blue merle. However, the same applies as far as I'm concerned. I would NOT be paying through the nose for a blue merle Border Collie.
  6. Between $900-$1,000. Anyone who pays more than that for a Border Collie needs their head read, regardless of colour! Drives me absolutely insane Almost as insane as calling red and white, wheaten, caramel etc etc etc! LOL
  7. Me too, Im disappointed that JRTs arent on there, mine is too smart for her own good!!! Having now seen so many JRT's along with my own, one "Master of the Universe" and one "average", I can't understand why they aren't at the top of the list, along with Shelties, who should also be much higher than the list from the OP. Chi's also should be up there. I think some of the smarter dogs are a bit like cats, suit themselves sometimes, still trainable up to a point. They can't be at the top of the list because Border Collies are :D :D :p
  8. Now THIS is the smartest dog in the world Lists be damned
  9. Of course I agree with this Smartest dog I ever knew was a Border Collile. My Shiva was smarter than any human I've ever met
  10. Wheaten is NOT a colour, Caramel is NOT a colour They are red. Just plain old red. Sadly the shiesters breeding them can't ask a tonne of dollars for plain old red, but Wheaten or Caramel LOOK OUT!!! Open chequebook! Makes me soooooooooo mad
  11. Yeah so what about the Border Collie and the JRT? They werent recognised in the country of origin before the rest of the world took up the Australian Standard. Border collie standard is different in different countries. In FCI they us the UK. (though I did hear tell that Australian tried to get them to change the country of origin of the border collie to Australia (have no idea if that is true). NZ had their own but close to the UK. US AKC has their own but also much like UK. Actaully the OZ standard stands out as very different to all the rest in many ways and the least used standard for border collie in the world. Also remember that by far, and we are talking 100, 000's of thosands of dogs, by far and away most border collie are not registered in the show registries. They are in the working regisitries in their country or ISDS which is the founding registiry long before ANKC (1906 for ISDS mid 1950's for ANKC). Even some of the European kennel clubs and Canada have the main registry as working and a much smaller appendix withint the working registry for show dogs. So if we want to be true to the country of origin then we would be using the UK standard for show bred dogs and ISDS or it's offshoots for working bred dogs (and they have no physical standard). When the truth is stranger then fantasy LOL Absolutely no truth to this whatsover. Just thought I'd point that out
  12. I agree with Megz here. If a dog is good enough, it will beat the titled dogs anyway.
  13. My new plates are: BNSHVA I used to have: MYWOOF
  14. slightly off track here I'm glad there is another Gilmore Girls fan, I have the whole series on Dvd, I will be at Pakenham on sat with 3 of ours Another 2 fans :D
  15. Nothing to add but I'm hazzarding a guess you're a Gilmore Girls fan
  16. Newspaper, newspaper and more newspaper
  17. Agree with this. Also the fact that it would be like a sauna in the box trailer with no proper ventilation.
  18. I already own the two best breeds in the world: BC's and the Wicked Whippet!! ooo and I co-own the cutest Pomeranian ever! I secretly harbour a desire for Pointers and Afghans ;)
  19. In my opinion there is no course or book on earth that can beat hands on experience. If you can, find a mentor in your chosen breed that has been breeding for a long time (not an easy task but can be done) and spend as much time as you can with them. An experienced breeder has probably seen it all and their knowledge is invaluable.
  20. This should NOT be the case. You are buying the same bloodlines with a coloured puppy as you would the black and white ones in that litter. DO NOT pay more than around $900-1000 for a very good quality Border Collie puppy. The other colours are in fact NOT rare as was stated earlier, and there are often good coloured puppies available for sale. You just have to be prepared to wait a little while. Also as a side note. the QUALITY coloured dogs always do very well in the breed ring. It is the average ones that get shown just because of their colour that don't do as well. I know as I spend EVERY weekend around the show rings. Off topic I know Good luck with your search for a lovely BC.
