  1. My understanding is to get an "official" score, the X-rays need to be done under ga, then sent to AVA. The hips have to be in the correct position to get the X-ray and it is not possible conscious.
  2. My understanding is there must be a minimum 14 days between vaccines.
  3. My pup arrived with splayed feet, her breeder reccomended ester c and she is now ok!
  4. When I did an elimination diet with my boy, the first step was 6 weeks on a low allergy diet. The dermatologist at the time reccomended hills z/d or royal canin hypoallergenic or a home cooked diet. For me, it was much easier to go with the prepared stuff. He was kept on this diet ONLY for 6 weeks, then I began introducing different protein one at a time. I think I introduced one protein for a week then back on the elimination diet for two, then intro a new protein and so on. If he reacted to a protein, I discontinued it immediately and went back to the elimination. Hope that helps some!
  5. Thanks! He was diagnosed at 5 months by a vet and a behaviourist. He's 11 months now. He's on clomicalm but I don't feel it's doing anything. I have crate trained him, just started trialling a thundershirt, and am really just looking for anything else that might help with the training! Will have a read of those links????
  6. Has anyone had any success using this in a dog with separation anxiety? Thanks!
  7. My old boy had the same, his spleen was removed after it ruptured. We did not do chemo. After recovering from surgery, he had a very happy three months, where he was spoilt rotten. He suddenly collapsed and had to be pts. But those last three month were very happy for him!
  8. Definitely general, but some use a local nerve block as well!
  9. We usually reccomend soft food but not tinned, dog roll is better as its less likely to get into any holes. Most do recover well but if you feel your dog is in pain or uncomfortable, don't hesitate to call the vet for more pain relief! Good luck x
  10. My old two, donated regularly, with no ill effects. They were so good they didn't need sedation, just lay there! Bless xx
  11. I think testing only involved a blood test these days! Good luck!
  12. I have teacher friends who get paid better than my vet friends. Vets are definately not in it for the $$$.
  13. My old boxer girl had it, she recovered after a few days but was left with a mild head tilt. She eventually had to be put down to a suspected brain tumor. I do wonder if the two were related.....
  14. I used it on and off for years, with no behavior changes! I found my girl 'leaked' worse in summer when she drank more and I ended up only giving it to her when she was leaking!
  15. At 4 months I wouldn't think you'd see many signs of HD. X-rays may also be inconclusive as there is a lot of development to happen over the next few months, but even so, they would be the best place to start. Good luck!
  16. I'm not in Sydney but if it was my dog and you can afford it, I'd get a referral to a specialist surgeon. Good luck!
  17. Nope no rent, I just charge them a set amount per dog, they then add on a small amount to the clients. I'm in a position where it's a new vet clinic so they are also trying to attract new clients, so the arrangements benefit both of us!
  18. I give them a price per dog that I want, they usually add on a bit for tax and super to the client. Hope that helps!
  19. Hi sail away! My boy had something that sounded similar, mainly over his head and neck, my vet diagnosed it as foliculitis, and antibacterial shampoo sorted it out!
