http://www.dogslife.com.au/dog-news/dog-health/dog-safety-in-cars actually it is against the law The ACT Dogs are required to be restrained on the back of a moving vehicle under the Animal Welfare Act 1992, said Lee-Anne Wahren, Policy Officer within Environment Planning and Legislation, who is responsible for reviewing all animal welfare policy in the ACT Government. Victoria The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 requires dogs to be restrained on moving vehicles, said Dr Stephen Tate, Director of Bureau of Animal Welfare within the Vic Department of Primary Industries. The maximum fine for breaching the law is $500 Queensland Having an unrestrained dog on a moving vehicle could breach both the Transport Operations (Road Use Management — Road Rules) Regulation 1999 and the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001. The Transport Operations Regulation, administered by the Department of Transport, states it is an offence to have an unsecured load on the back of a vehicle and that applies to dogs, said Dr Rick Symons, Manager of the Animal Welfare Unit within the Qld Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries. The Animal Care and Protection Act does not specifically mention dogs restrained on vehicles, but it places a duty of care on owners of animals to ensure the welfare needs of animals are met. “It is an offence under the Act for a person in charge of an animal to breach this duty of care by transporting the animal in a way that is inappropriate for the animal’s welfare,” he said. A breach of duty of care can result in a fine of $22,500 (and up to five times this amount for a corporation) or one year’s imprisonment. Northern Territory The Animal Welfare Act 1999 states, “A person transporting an animal must do so in a manner that does not unreasonably or unnecessarily inflict suffering on the animal.” Peter Brice, the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee Executive Officer for NT, said the Act replaced the old Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and is primarily enforced by the RSPCA. Breaking the law will incur an on-the-spot fine of $100. NSW The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979 requires a dog to be restrained on the back of a moving vehicle or enclosed in such a way as to prevent the dog falling from the vehicle. The maximum penalty is $5500 or six months in jail, according to Dr Ian Lugton, Senior Veterinary Officer within the Animal Welfare Unit of the NSW Department of Primary Industries. Dr Lugton said by March he expects officers to have authorisation to track down offenders involved in motor vehicle offences by following up on the vehicle’s registration details. South Australia Transporting unrestrained dogs is against the law as provided in the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995. The Act was amended in 2004 to include the legislation Tasmania The Dog Control Act 2000 states, “The owner or person in charge of a dog must restrict the dog sufficiently while it is in or on a vehicle so that it is unable to leave the vehicle or attack any person or animal outside the vehicle.” RSPCA Tasmania Chief Inspector Graeme Lewis said only police officers could enforce the law. Breaking the law has a maximum fine of $500.

taking your dog will be easy, simple vet trip for injections (rabies mainly) lodge paperwork book his flight :) new York has some amazing dog parks to see where they are restricted in America your best bet would be to contact the dog argentine club of America, they can also hook you up with registered ethical breeders

1 Year Old Labrador Retriever - New Puppy?
keasarge replied to Jennda's topic in General Dog Discussion
let us know how you go :) if you wanted to trial another dog for a bit why not volunteer to be a guide dog puppy raiser or a rescue minder? less permenant and allows you to see how all the others will go with another dog and how it will affect your family ?:) -
ive never seen a corgi where I live. but I guess with so many choices of pures and mongrels its no surprise that a few breeds end on the endangered list, a handful of dedicated breeders will maintain the lines nicely enough.
-
lol no my hubby banned me! but my next dog will be imported from uk so im talking to a few breeders for 'reasearch' purposes lol!
-
shrug anything can be harmful if used in the wrong way. I never leave collars on dogs and only use flat ones for walks. all training is done off lead. it was interesting reading though.

Is beau desexed ? You'll probably have no problems but be prepared for the naughtiness to triple! You may find he will go back to some naughty habbits to copy her in about a year the hierarchy will probably find (all the bitches I know are head of the house ) you may have troubles with your little dog and her competiting for head bitch but he is a good age and would love the company! Make sure they have time apart to so sif one needs to go to the vet or something the other one dosnt sit at home and howl -
Lots Of oodles im ashamed to say. And lots of collies or kelpies crosses a few sheppards some whippets (5 regulars at our dog park) and labs and one lone dalmation lol. at my park 70 % are mongrels from rescue/pound the Remaning are pure and most are shown or the owner wanted a specific breed (ie frenchie)

I haven't read all the replies, but if I had legally adopted the dog I don't think id give it back. wasn't this a huge issue after hurricane Katrina? people adopting dogs and with the hole shamoozle owners couldn't be contacted, dogs travelled huge distances, got adopted and owners tracked them down..if it was a situation like after Katrina id give it back

I know I shouldn't but im the one who sticks my hand in between I know I know but in the heat of the moment and dogs snarling and crying... my dogs arnt fighters though so I know they wont fight back so its normally just pulling off the attacking dog and id rather get bitten than my dogs... but there have been lots of good suggestions in here I will try and remember

How old is she? Argo my old rescue rottie (may he meet me at the rainbow bridge) had teeth pulled cost $800 but there was a problem with the root removal (tooth virtual sideways and root caught on another tooth he didn't have many teeth so I wanted to save all he had) hence the extra cost Mabey the vet will let you work it off (clean kennels ect up?)
