What ill effects does onion have? I've heard many people say not to feed it, but never a reason why. (I'm a kibble feeder, so I'm more curious than anything)

Blues are definately the most common colour we see at the boarding kennel I work in. Red is my personal favourite staff colour. Blues are beautiful, but there is no way in hell I'd pay as much as what some people do for something which is no different to any other staffy (pet wise).

My new puppy has been eating my hair, assumingly picking it up off his toys which have been rolling around the floor and getting bits of my hair stuck to it. Occasionally when he is defecating, some will get stuck and he will yelp and try and pull it out, is there anything I can give him that might help him digest it so that it doesnt cause issues? I vacuum regularly, but my hair is quite long and I moult like a labrador lol

I'm not sure if you saw my older post, but my work (the pets hotel) does first day daycare for $24 (half price) and there are packs as well, including a monthly pack which i think is $980. The hours are 7am-7pm weekdays, 9-5 weekends and we always have availabilities. If you ever got stuck again, you could call us and drop her in anytime.

I dont know whereabouts you live, but where I work, we offer a first day daycare at half price ($24), so you could try that and see how she goes and if it may be suitable for her long term? If she is friendly with other dogs she would be able to play with them, and if not, she could have a seperate area for playing, or stay in the safety of a room. At least then you would know she is safe and has someone watching over her :) (If you did want to bring her in on a regular basis, you could buy a 10 day pack for $380, working out at $38 per daycare used, and it has no expiry, and there are further packs available too). This is at The Pets Hotel in Port Melbourne :)

Yea hes got that look perfected. He doesnt really like going down the stairs, so he will just sit at the top and stare at me *sigh* I can tell when hes sick of training too because he will get distracted by the kitties lol!

Bitten By A Snake... Waiting For The Vets To Call :(
CollieChaos replied to miss2's topic in General Dog Discussion
Glad to hear spud is safe, and that you havent killed the snake. Hopefully it will come out of hiding soon and be relocated, or it will move on by itself. -
Thanks for the tip Sheena, I might google it to see if there are any other recommendations :) Thanks for the welcome as well ;) I'm already amazed at how smart he is! On his first day of me training him to do commands, he learnt sit and drop, and now does both reliably, on the second day he learnt stand and today he learnt touch (touch his nose to my hand). He's a wonder dog! He's 9 weeks old today :D

Need Info On Size And Type Of Crate For New Whippet
CollieChaos replied to Clancy's Mum's topic in Puppy Chat
I personally prefer wire, not just for durability, but for sanitary reasons also, its a lot easier to clean and disinfect wire and plastic than it is canvas :) I got my crate for my Border Collie from Pet Barn, they are reasonably cheap there, and pretty sturdy. -
Through my retardation and probable tired puppy brain i never realised there was a second page to this thread when I replied to it. I am sorry for not addressing the concerns raised in the posts on this page. Thankyou for the concerns about where I got him from, its nice to know that there are good breeders out there trying to make sure everything is done right by the dog :) His parents have definately had the appropriate health testing, his mum is a black tri, and his dad is a chocolate merle. I paid the exact same price as I would have if he was a black and white pup. His nose pigmentation has also increased since we got him last week. His eye rims are completely dark.

Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You
CollieChaos replied to jess live die's topic in Puppy Chat
I was listening to a song called stars and decided his markings look like the night sky (i know its lame lol) so wanted a space type name and a friend suggested Orion and we decided it fit better than any other name we had considered :) -

He's here!!! He's a dream! He hasn't gone to the toilet inside at all, and even held on all night! He took about 20mins to settle after being put to bed and is eating great :D -
Such a sad story, R.I.P Buddy Working in a boarding kennel, I have bathed a lot of dogs, and I have had them fall/jump off on me before when they have been wearing a restraint. We use safety knots, so that it can be undone with one pull if the dog falls, or we lift them back up if that fails. Dogs are never ever EVER left alone on the grooming table or in the bath, and certainly not when going on a lunch break! I hope the culprit has been appropriately punished and will learn a VERY important lesson for their mistake. I hope you can meet a resolution soon, though you will never get your beautiful boy back, perhaps some compenstation will be a friendly reminder to that buisness that you cant give someone's pet second rate service!!

Thanks for the tips guys, from the sounds of things, it should be fully pigmented in time, his parents/grandparents had normal pigmentation, so hopefully he follows suit :) Sid is A-DORABLE! His little colour patch looks like a little doggy yamaka!

Grooming Essentials For A Border Collie
CollieChaos replied to CollieChaos's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks for all the replies guys (sorry for not replying sooner but I definately am reading!!) I didnt realise there was such a thing as too soft lol He's on limited register, so wont be for show. I do want his coat to be in good condition though, I cant stand it when BC's come into work in bad condition (I work in boarding), I always have to bath and brush them and make them pretty again :) -

CollieChaos replied to jess live die's topic in Puppy Chat
Woooooo today is our day!!! It wont be until late this afternoon that I can pick him up....its going to be the longest 6 hours EVER -
My new BC pup's nose has gradually been getting more pigmentation on it as he has grown (he is still with the breeders, getting him thursday), its covering probably 70% of his nose now, at what age would I expect the change to stop? I am worried about sun damage and am hoping it will fully colour up, but if not, what are the options for protecting his nose? Does anyone have any sunscreen recommendations? (human sunscreen is not safe?) Thanks in advance for any input ^.^

Grooming Essentials For A Border Collie
CollieChaos replied to CollieChaos's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks for all the tips guys, please keep them coming!! I picked up a pin brush (I got one of the prestige pet ones as I dont like plastic handled brushes), a lawrence slicker (I realised once actually looking in my grooming box, that i now have the small, medium and large sized tender care ones lol), and an undercoat rake :) I've also ordered a nice oster metal comb (I use it at work and want my own for home), so hopefully that wont take to long to come in :) -
Melbourne Doggy Daycare Recommendations
CollieChaos replied to CollieChaos's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks for the recommendation Cosmolo, I might stop by there on the way home/to work later this week :) Thanks for the concern about home time, this however is not the topic of the thread :)
