I'm my experience. Great Danes drool! Friends of mine use to have them and they would wash the walls weekly because of the dogs drool lol. This might be a bit smaller than you'd like - they are technically a medium dog even though they've got short legs - have you considered a corgi? they're highly trainable, love to be with people, they're not aloof, they shed a lot but def no drool. They're solid dogs and quite robust even though they're not big.

Hi Phyria! Im new to this so I'll answer your question as best I can! Limited Register means that the dog is a purebred, and registered with its state body. But, cannot be shown or bred from. From what I understand your best bet regarding getting a show potential would be to settle on a breed, from there research the breed and find what breeders are about and make a short list of potential breeders you could approach to discuss purchasing a pup, go to some of dog shows and talk to breeders there too. Tell breeders that your interested in learning how to show and that you would be interested in purchasing a show potential pup. Building a relationship with a breeder is the best bet in gaining a dog with main registration papers so that your able to show. Also read and ask lots of questions here everyone is really great and willing to help us newbies learn!

Just purchased a couple of dog toys off ebay. Including a Boomer Ball and a kong frizbee. This pup will have a toy collection to rival that of my children soon. haha.

This too! I use to go watch the dogs at our local agricultural show but now they don't do dog shows at the local show! I found out recently that they now do a big championship show locally in March. So totally missed it this year! Planning on going to the Royal Melbourne Show for one day this year, but apart from that I don't really know what shows / trials are on unless Ballarat Dog Obedience Club is running it and the only do obedience/agility/flyball etc so im not sure who runs the big march show. Unless there is a second dog club in Ballarat I'm unaware of?

I found dol by googling corgi breeders victoria and it took me to the corgi page on here. I emailed three and heard back from two. Having said that I guess I was lucky in the sense that I already knew about the ANKC. I think it would be great to see more ANKC registered dogs advertised in public places. More recently it has been more common to come across the dont buy from pet shops / byb / puppy farm . And while that information often comes with a note of buy from a reputable breeder or rescue it doesnt tell you how to go about finding that reputable breeder which for some people unfortunatly makes backyard breeders more accessible.

Agreed, and more registered breeders SHOULD advertise in the trading post, let the public know there is such a thing as ANKC registered breeders. This is actually a really good point! Never thought of it this way!

I think that was the case with this particular advertisement. First question hubby asked was if they were registered with the ANKC said no so he said bye. Pretty simple lol.

No I haven't. I've contacted both Kingsrowan and Purdella, both of which have told us when they plan on litters which we are happy to wait on either of these. My other half is just getting a little over eager. (Which is great considering it took me ages to convince him we should get a dog! lol)

So, we've been looking for a corgi puppy and I found a couple of breeders on Dogzonline, but my husband was looking through the trading post today and noticed an advertisement for corgi puppies. It says they're registered in the ad but I was just wondering how many reputable breeders would actually advertise in the trading post? I'm trying to steer him away for them and telling him to wait till one of the breeders closest to us has pups as the two I spoke to do plan on litters sometime this year. But, he is keen to inquire. I just wanted to get opinions here first (and then can show him if the responses.) Thanks Stacey.

How exciting Lisa! Not long at all! I have two breeders in mind, I have to reconnect with one in Mid-July to find out if a bitch that was mated late May is pregnant or not, the other has let me know that his dogs were mated week just gone! So will know more in a few weeks!

No news here I should have more of an idea of when in midjuly which is when the breeder told us to make contact again so prob wont have any news till then.

sounds like us, the last couple of weeks I've been getting the boys to pick out a toy for the puppy each lol, and I've been getting stuff to get myself occupied. I need to decide on collar etc. Though, there are some awesome ID tags on Etsy once we've decided on a name :) my youngest son wants to call it Pinkel. I have no idea where he got that name from. But, over the last month of so they've accumulated a list of names so it'll be interesting to see what we all eventually settle on!

I swear the wait is almost as bad as the wait when pregnant for my human babies to be ready to be born! lol
