That last one re the ball reminds me of when we first got our new BC pup. Kenz (the pup) was totally obsessed with squeakie toys. Ness the older girl is a total foodie. Well I had given them both breakfast and Ness of course polished hers off in quick succession whereas Kenz was still going. Ness then proceeded to disappear and return with one of Kenz's squeakie toys whereby she stood there squeaking it. Kenz went oh Ness you have my toy, dropped her bone and then Ness went over and picked up Kenz's bone while Kenz was preoccupied with the squeakie .

What Do You Like About Obedience
ness replied to aussielover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Wuffles I love heelwork - hmm maybe I am just weird. Doesn't matter how long the routine is to me (well ok when I am working Kenz, if its Ness lets just get rid of it entirely). -
I am thinking 300 but would have to double check. I don't know the height cut offs off the top of my head but 33cm would certainly be a 300 dog. The cut-off for 400 is somewhere around 365mm.

There are a few MS who run agility here and do really well and there is an awesome MS in Qld who runs agility and is really competitive in masters even against the larger breeds.

Nah its not sulking she is sore . She went to stand up wouldn't put weight on her front leg at all then sat down again. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Well done on your trial results mirawee by the way .
-
Good to hear Ruby pulled up fine. Kenz won't get up off the dog bed and I think is pretty sore after this morning .
-
Well done RS. Ok so I am just back from letting Kenz have a short swim - fingers crossed she pulls up no worse later this afternoon. So far so good but I know with her she isn't sore until she has had a sleep and then I can assess the extent of the damage. All I am hoping for is that its situation normal and she is no worse then normal.

Well done Mille and Ruby (and RS).

Training For High Level Obedience
ness replied to shekhina's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Shek - I have done the TID package with my youngster and think from all you have posted that I would be seriously considering it in your circumstance - or at least having a chat to Steve. You certainly do have to work through all the modules - the rate of progress through the various modules however is more dependent on the dog. You are probably better off doing the TID package first and then joining a club further down the track. I was already a member of a club before doing the TID program but only used the club as distractions until my youngster was ready to go into the ring and do a round. ETA. Just read the rest of what you said - Steve did joke with me that I could probably retrain my older girl who is mega food obsessed in drive as well , but I took pity on her that she had been retrained so many times that it wasn't worth it. I wouldn't see any reason why you couldn't trial an older dog in the higher classes so long as they were physically fit and capable. I did semi-retire my 10.5 year old BC from trials. We trialled through till April of this year and I probably would have kept trialling her if my youngster wasn't out of action at the moment. I have taken her out training and she has an absolute ball in the ring. She was also running agility until the age of 10 but I figured once she got her final title there was no point in jumping her that often. Obedience I wouldn't have any issues trialling an older dog . -
Well done RV and Toby - fantastic stuff - attitude is everything and to have them work in a trial ring just as they do at home is something special and worth bottling . Congratulations.
-
Oh don't worry Ptolomy - I went and retrieved it myself, ignoring her and had my own party with her i-squeak . You should have seen the look on her face it was priceless. ETA. Glad to hear that Toby and RV went well in CCD .

Urgh - was out doing articles with the semi-broken dog to give her something to do. Leather no problems. Wood no problems. Both were really lovely with nice presents. Metal BITCH - goes out finds the correct article and stands there looking at me as if it say well found it what do you want with it. Bloody dog.

Ptolomy sounds like Beans is in the same cupboard that Ness is in only Ness comes out and doesn't seem to do so brilliantly.
-
Good luck in the obedience trial tomorrow all who are entered - will be expecting to hear of lots of brilliant performances after last Monday's effort .
-
Poor Boots - hope he is feeling better soon.

My dad worked at a university in admin and both dogs went out to visit. Kenz went out as a pup to meet his staff but only for an hour or so. I would also occasionally drive to pick him up and walk them around the campus. No problems here. I have also taken them into my office at a different uni when I have had to go in for a short period of time to print or photocopy stuff for my PhD.
-
LOL RS pity your not closer - not that I have a dog to train - although I dusted Ness off again last night and she did a stunning UD round - bitch .
-
But Tassie they didn't get the "tail" gene ;).

Nah LP Rory is from the first litter, Wikki is from a repeat litter of the same parents .

Nothing like having the dog make the decision for you eh Ptolomy .
