No Tassie - Ptolomy remember if Scoota fails you can always off-load him when you fly over Adelaide on the way home just ask the pilot to hit the eject button - will be waiting to catch any tollers (or aussies) looking for new homes .

How To Get Dog Working With Enthusiasm In The Ring
ness replied to LabRat32's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
If we are talking enthusiasm my youngster trials with the same level of enthusiasm as I would get from her in training, her work isn't perfect and a tad messy, but there would be no difference in her ring performance, she is working to the same standard she does at training. However she is also one of these dogs that whenever you ask her to do anything she throws 100% of herself into it. I do know I spent lots of time when she was younger asking for tricks and reinforcing her with whatever I had on me and put a lot of effort into having her enjoy just playing. She doesn't care what might be available for a reinforcer - if I am there then there is potential for something exciting to happen. I can pick up a blade of grass or a twig and get the same reaction I get if I had a ball or a tug. -
RS I would say I wouldn't but then go on to say what measures might be used IF you did .

Have a look at the GD dvds RS.

Well done to all those who passed today and well done to OSS for the ET pass yesterday .

Way to go Rory - tracking is awesome - well so Ness thinks - bugger only took 10 years to find a sport she is a natural at . ETA. The tracking blood must have been inherited from his SA mum .
-
yeah they are a little bashful when it comes to bragging I have found .
-
Way to go Brooklyn - fingers crossed that remaining pass isn't to far away .
-
kallistar - they might stop txting me results if I am not careful. Bugger about your seek back with decoy falling apart.

I hear rumor that bedazzledx2 has a brag to share - brookie was a very good boy today .

I didn't think the Wee-saw was allowed until the 1st of January 2012. Clubs here I am pretty sure are not swapping until then. Kind of glad my youngster has been out injured this year because it means I won't have to worry about needing to have trained 2 different see-saw heights.

What Do You Like About Obedience

I was just explaining corvus I haven't been following the thread super closely - sorry huski - I didn't mean to imply you weren't suggesting she mix it up. -

Huski - what I think Corvus is saying is that yes some dogs can have a naturally higher desire for certain rewards then others but this can vary depending on the circumstances and why not use it. If your dog prefers treats in a certain situation then use those, if the dog prefers toys in another situation use those. Be flexible . -
Well done FHRP - sorry missed your brag before.

Way to go DSO and Jess - up with the big kids now .

wuffles as far as practical logic goes the one I could never get was a Broad Jump. Why would you leave your dog go and stand in the middle of the stream have the dog jump over a stream and then come and sit in front in the middle of the stream . -
My two BCs have been known for there Toller bits too .

This clip was put together for another purpose but I think I would struggle to make a decision as to whether we enjoyed obedience or agility better - actions speak better then words . And no I will tell you this dog has never been subjected to "group" obedience classes or block heeling both of which I know kill enthusiasm. -
Toby looks great RV - you both look good. All the best with the next one certainly must leave you with a lot of confidence that he will get there .

What about Adelaide Ptolomy - some of us would love to meet Soggy :D.
