  1. maybe LP should have written anybody other than Ness . We have already exchanged a number of emails RS.
  2. Xena98 probably has so you could PM her if she doesn't see your post.
  3. Not easy WA but it can be done. You have met Kenz and you know how timid she can be of people and she has a reasonable SFE in an obedience context.
  4. RS - where was my free accommodation offer in return for training your 2 .
  5. Huski - Kenz did this once to me and she picked it up in a similar fashion to Daisy early on. I put the game away for a bit then went back to just hiding one article in amongst other things like cans and pots for a few sessions then just went back to a normal full set. She soon got the idea that it wasn't a snatch and grab and once she was using her nose again it was easy enough to go to the full set.
  6. bedazzledx2 let me know if you manage to change it. Second session Kenz still thinks its "perch work" and I am using practically a flat board on the ground. Having said that I did get a lovely square flip finish and those seem to be happening nicely. Does anybody have any ideas for an around the back finish. I have totally lost Kenz's because she keeps thinking I am asking for a flip finish to the right and ends up lining on the right hand side. I am assuming its because she is working off the signal but buggered if I can get through it. I have never really taught her a flip finish to the right either which is why I am confused as anything - at least not on signal. I guess I can see the confusion because my flip finish signal to the left i.e. a normal finish is similar to my around the back finish BUT given with a different hand. Surely she hasn't been clever enough to assume that the signal given with the other hand means line up on the right. It wasn't broken Tuesday night in the ring at training its just broken since which is even more bizarre.
  7. Chris Bach's DVD's seems to use them quite a lot - hmm although on an edit they are more like PVC frames or wooden frame whereas the one in the video appears to be more like a platform (went off to have a look at the discussion on the list you were referring to). I toyed with the thought and then decided it was something extra to fade so didn't go down that path - or was it Ptolomy who convinced me it was something extra to have to fade . I just disappeared outside and find an appropriate plank of timber in the garden so spent a few minutes doodling with that and having Kenz line up at heel. Suppose I can see the merit to it especially as it forces the dog to sit nice and tight. For some reason though it worked great for lining up at heel it didn't work so great when I tried a front. I think the dog has to much association with rear end awareness games and planks of timber because she kept wanting to swing her but into heel rather than sit in front on the board.
  8. They sure are a real credit to what can be done in the obedience world Ptolomy - they are both brilliant and you both deserve to be tickled pink with all they have achieved. They certainly turned a number of heads when they have trialled here at the Adelaide Royal and remained quite the talking point for a number of months. Well done Scoota, Brookie (Ptolomy and Bedazzledx2) may you enjoy what is left of your last trip interstate and hurry back to Perth and do something about finishing off a couple of UDX titles . Full steam ahead. .
  9. If you signed up for Puppy Peaks the webinar is being uploaded to the Puppy Peaks website and will be available for viewing there - or so SG said on FB.
  10. Fingers crossed Hunny. Kenz has been lame for over 6 months and we are both fed up with "resting".
  11. Bugger Ptolomy but he is a good boy and considering you only got the green light to take him on Monday he did very well. Give Moo a cuddle from me .
  12. Not super windy, maybe a little bit Ptolomy but will give her the benefit of the doubt unless it becomes a habit. On the bright side she nailed her metal . Suppose I can't win them all. She normally only brings me back the correct one and she thought she was correct to the point where even though I knew where I had put it I thought she must have grabbed the right one.
  13. Not a guru but I have heard that medication can upset the dogs scent work so I would use that as the "reason" until its proved otherwise. I encountered an interesting scent problem myself yesterday with Kenz. We were playing articles and for whatever reason she bought me back the article next to the correct one - not once but on two separate occasions - both her wood and her leather. They both also happened to the same numbered article. Normally when I play my scent work at home I try and select all of the one number. I couldn't remember which article I scented last time I used this particular set or when we played the other day so will just do with benefit of the doubt and see what happens in our next session before worrying to much.
  14. Ah ok so its not that its not "straight" its just that it doesn't look the same to the dog and handler. I think I understand. One of the UD judges likes to set you up at on a "diagonal" for articles. Well they just don't put the articles along a straight ring edge - so the dog and the handler are still straight to the articles but on a diagonal. Sounds like this sendaway was set up similarly.
  15. Ok from a person not trialling or training a dog for UDX - have I missed something I thought the send to the prescribed area was a straight sendaway . Do I have to go back and read the rule book.
  16. We don't show height cards when we trial but they can request to see them. All dogs trialling must have a height card. I don't think you would have a hassle being from interstate. It certainly won't be requested as standard and if you have a dog that is clearly in the right height then I would lose to much sleep over it.
  17. Way to go Team WA. And congratulations on Brooklyn's second place in Open Bedazzledx2 .
  18. Go Team WA - fantastic work Ptolomy and Bedazzledx2 (and the third WA person). Well done Brooklyn, Scoota and Maverick .
  19. Hunny - whereabouts in WA are you - are you in Perth because I would jump into the WA thread and find out a chiro, bowen or physio and have it looked at. My 3 year old BC has had on-going front end lameness - been through xrays and ultrasound and the likely explanation is biceps tendonitis. Given your guy is still a baby you really want to get onto it and if xrays have shown up nothing then its likely to be muscular but it might still need treatment other than rest. Its amazing what else gets thrown out of wack when they are carrying an injury.
  20. mine would to most likely if I let them Sway - but 2 dogs means they have to share ;). Mine have also had the occasional chocolate biscuit so they do get bits of chocolate to .
  21. yep mine get ice-cream as a special treat or a bulla frozen yoghurt tub. In summer when we have been away up the river I will occasionally get them a dixie cup each or something like that. They love it. They have also been known to have a spoonful of chocolate ice cream or clean out my bowl when I have had ice cream at home. If it had been me I would have paid for a full scoop, eaten half a scoop myself and then given the remaining half to the dog - problem sorted.
  22. Least she has good taste in dogs .
  23. she offered that if I wanted to leave Kenz with her she would quite happily take her home .
  24. Fair enough Ptolomy re Scoota - but I still have garlic prawns waiting and Kenz would still very much like to have a certain Aussie air dropped . As for MRB and a training camp = what about you and bedazzledx2 come over and run a training camp AND we will find a nice winery to host it .
