Well done Brooklyn and bedazzled on some fantastic open scores. Bet Ptolomy is right and both boys will finish them off on the same weekend - its always the way with them . All the best for next weekend.

But inevitablue she is only a baby. I might ask if you know she was in sheep mode why you then attempted to do some obedience with her. Was that setting her up for failure by asking her to perform on those conditions. I think its especially critical to in the early stages only set the dog up when they have ever chance of succeeding. Asking a baby herding breed who has enough sustained interest on the stock as it sounds like your youngster has at the moment and trying to get them to do obedience to the level I would want - hmm forget it. Maybe when they have grown up but in the early stages its a distraction that I wouldn't even ask the dog to cope with.

Ness is running out of time . I would have entered her if she hadn't decided on both tracks I ran last week to go around in circles and get me stuck in the trees.
-
well if my dog wasn't lame I'd have been out running agility at the States . I chickened out of entering the next tracking trial not convinced either of mine are ready yet even though the instructor says they are. Might enter the last one for the year if I can find a tracklayer. I had 3 offers for the next trial but just not confident yet and didn't want to waste people's time given the effort that they have to go to to set a track for a trial.

Kynan - must have been posting at the same time. We have also met up with some of the people to train on a Saturday up at Monarto where the trials are held.

There are a few tracking groups around Adelaide - contact details are all provided on the website. I know there is a group that meets out the Northern suburbs on a Thursday and there is also a group that trains up at Blackwood each Tuesday. I train mine on a Tuesday up at Blackwood. They are through the Tracking Club of SA. People also meet up informally to train.

Congrats kathq on your UD pass and TSD and DSO on your agility success.

Hmm having been through this recently I ended up driving to parks and then letting my other dog out and keeping the injured one either in the car or on-lead.

This isn't from a UDX perspective but having started tracking training with both of my girls I do think there are some people they seem to find easier then others. They have mostly been tracking a new person each session we have gone out and there have been some that they have really struggled with for whatever reason.

Tassie if you sent it via Australia post it would still be travelling :D.

apparently a friend did litter rego recently and they were back the next day too . Nah the person at DogsSA who now does them is a long time trialler and besides which apparently it takes hardly any time at all to do them so she just does them as they come in rather then let them build up in a pile. . But we at least now don't have to return them due to incorrect details :D.

Our normal title applications are basically overnight now. The day they get the paperwork is the day the title certificate is posted. Or we get them delivered to club on a Tuesday night .

caffy no I think Kenz reckons she is an honorary retriever - they were doing some retrieving training after tracking on Saturday and Kenz went out and did it effortlessly when the goldie was struggling . -
You could train them at different clubs. You could join the agility dog club and train your kelpie there for agility on a Thursday night without having passed formal basic obedience. http://www.agilitydogclubsa.com/ Or you could train the one that is least distractable in the club and train the other one at home so they already understand what you want before introducing them to the club environment. Might seem the opposite of logical but its much easier to introduce the dog to training in a highly distracted environment like a club if the dog is already trained in what you are asking them. There are a few clubs out the Northern suburbs that are reasonably close together so finding two separate clubs that train on different nights might not be to hard.

Ness hasn't entered probably as many trials as Alex but she has me spoiled for DR to as its an exercise she has never failed . Pity she couldn't get her act together with the rest of it. Once we got over our early battles with it its probably her best UD exercise. -
I am not sure I would put 100% faith in a puppy who necessarily tugs in a new environment as being a sure bet. My youngster would have fallen into that definition as a baby - jumped straight out of a crate after 5 hour flight, home to a place she had never been and within 10 minutes was happily tugging (baring in mind she also needed a snack so that is what happened in the first 10 minutes ).
-
Is it possible to lift her in and out of the car so she can still have car rides. My youngster was on 3 weeks strict rest after the specialist visit and the only way we both managed to keep sane was car rides. But she is only 13kg so I could easily lift her in and out .

Caffy if I can get Ness to lock in on a glove I am sure you can get Snazzy to lock in on a glove. I remember the lesson Sue ran with me and she got you and Alex to demo what "locking in" on the glove looked like. I still have that picture in my mind when I am training . And TSD I remember you posting that video of Em at another time - she is such a good little girl. -
Join the club kelpiechick only replace kelpie with border collie and try not yet 3 when it happened . We did eventually get xrays and ultrasound to rule out a hope heap of stuff as it just wasn't improving. Certainly recommend seeking out a good chiro/muscle person/physio. My youngster will be starting a course of weekly acupuncture for a month next week to see if we can finally get the bottom of it.

Yeah I sure did. Didn't watch it all will have another good look tomorrow .
