  1. TSD Kenz did 1 CCD trial and passed and I decided enough with that and went onto Novice .
  2. No I get a "walk through" first don't I .
  3. I bought my obedience trial lead from here - http://www.obedience...and_Leads.html. Bought the 900mm by 10mm and it works well.
  4. There is a Mock Rally trial at one of the obedience trials coming up I might enter .
  5. Neh neh neh Tassie - Kenz has a lovely walk back in heel position .
  6. TSD but she is the old girl she will be 11 in just under a months time .
  7. Was only try outs for the Royal and Kenz was the star .
  8. Old Girl Brag - Ness passed her Track 1 with a Good Rating at her first tracking trial today - way to go Ness Monster .
  9. Since you asked for it Ptolomy ;). The video of Kenz's round from today.
  10. Way to go Wuffles and Ava - fantastic work. You should be tickled pink with her work. My brag - well Kenz managed a stunning novice round herself and finally held it together in stays to walk away with her second pass. 7 dogs failed the SFE, including dogs who are normally rock solid so pretty chuffed that my little girl who use to be so scared of people approaching her I thought she would never manage one managed fine. The judge was full of praise about the standard of her work and thought she was something pretty special. Very happy with her as we then rushed off to do a DWD practice in preparation for the Royal where she also worked her little black and white socks off. Lots of the dogs were uncomfortable with working in the environment and kept sniffing the ground during their routines despite having been there for longer then she was. I grabbed her out of the car and from the moment we got in there she was all eyes on me and put together a really lovely performance. Full on and lots of fun.
  11. No my young girl had 1 judge take 2 off one of her starters routines which I can only guess was for barking the rest weren't to bothered.
  12. Hope things improve soon Ptolomy - give Moo a cuddle from me.
  13. Well I have half my routine planned the other half I guess I'll just wing it and see what works - they probably won't ask me back again after my little opinionated BC "talks" her way through it anyway .
  14. Experience hmm not really . Maybe I could gatecrash your thread and get some help with my demo routine - off listening to John Farnham and will get back to you. Age of Reason??? First 1 min 22 has a natural break. Thats Freedom?? First 1 min 20 again. What about Men at Work - Land Down Under
  15. What about some of the Harry Potter stuff - I wanted to do something like that for the Royal but couldn't find anything fast enough to suit my girl who likes to do things at a million miles an hour. I used Bippidy Boppidy Boo as one of my HTM songs.
  16. you have longer then me I have to get something together between now and this Saturday .
  17. Kallistar I put together 4 routines in a month - I won't say they were brilliant we ended up with 4 passes out of 8 at the trial - and a couple of placings. One of the failures was because my young girl had a meltdown in her first routine but she is nervy (and that was a HTM routine). My older girl failed her HTM and also one of her freestyle - not sure why she failed her freestyle as it was better then the one she passed and missed out on a pass by a point. Yep you can use a target stick in a HTM routine. For freestyle anything really goes - I did Surfin USA with my old girl. Used a body board - sent her to it and had her do COP on it, spins, twists, called her to me and had her put her paws up on it, jump over the top of it, weave around it. My youngsters freestyle routine was to Step in Time. I used a cardboard box and created a chimney (that was entertaining to get to Sydney on the plane) and then had a target stick with a cardboard cut out top as a chimney sweep brush. She did things like run around the target stick (I had a base made for it that it rested in), we heeled around the chimney, I had her jump the chimney, we had leg weaves etc. I am just polishing that routine for a try-out for the Royal on the weekend (we don't have proper comps here yet). Nothing like leaving things to the last minute - she hasn't done much DWD in ages and I have only spent this week doing a routine and its still a work in progress. She has a number of moves just not sure where I want them. Some of the new moves include - using the "chimney" which is now a little more solid as an object to place paws on and pivot around while I am standing in front, she will also jump over the top of it and I can send her into a 2o2o position where she will put her back paws on the chimney and have her front paws on the ground (that was last nights new trick and tonight its reliable). Hoping to include her fetching me the sweep brush at the end of the routine and a few other bits and pieces. She now also circles the sweep brush while I circle the other direction. My main problem seems to be not having to do running repairs on my props after each training session she is just trashing them. My proper chimney casing won't get used until the day of the Royal if she gets into the demo team. ETA. Starters routines only need to go for a minute and one of the workshops I attended suggested you only really need 4 different tricks for a starters freestyle routine and link those together and there you have it. Your dog obviously has a solid background in obedience so I wouldn't imagine it would be overly complicated. Have you done any rear end awareness/pivot work. You can use a small footstool or something and have the dog pivot in position or pivot in front - that counts for a "trick".
  18. Kallistar - my advice enter the freestyle and have a go as well. For starters you only need a routine that is just over a minute and freestyle is heaps of fun and not that difficult if the dog will string together a few tricks .
  19. While my BC wasn't great anyway she did go through a noticeable rough patch around 13 months. She was around 5 months out of season as well and because she was going to be desexed anyway and was desexed before coming in again so I don't know if that was the cause her in her case but I know people did suggest it might be a part of the issue.
  20. WA you have met both of my two I think - Kenz just gets in under the 400 cut off with 3mm to spare - she is 452mm. My other dog sits just the other side of the 400 mm cut off and around 465mm.
  21. Sorry about your Mum's injury Ptolomy. I am sure you can manage to cook something - failing that there is always takeaway .
  22. You could try agility click - Qld based company - http://agilityclick.com/category12_1.htm
  23. Was Ptolomy who once (ok maybe a few times said to me) on recounting a training session where the dog did the exercise correctly the first time so I asked for it again and not only did I repeat it but I think I repeated it 3-4 times - why if the dog did it correctly the first time did you then repeat it. The idea is the dog does it correctly the first time. We weren't talking about heelwork in that instance but I guess all she was saying is don't flog something until it breaks just for the sake of it . I would certainly suggest keeping it short and sweet if the dog is struggling with motivation.
