poor Alex. Ness is the same though but both my two are developing a habit (after tracking season) of jumping in strangers cars to clean them out for food too - doesn't help that they have a "friend" who encourages it. We went out to help plot and she kept dognapping my dogs. Now any time they see her car they immediately jump in . I have come back to my car to find the treats eaten - that just means the only dog to get trained is Kenz .

Ness would be great with toy distractions she can't give a toss about toys .
-
SLLH I normally get through the ring work fine I have a heart attack when we get to the sit stay - no guessing why .
-
Yep that happened with Kenz and novice- she got her title at the trial on the Saturday, had a trial the following day and then a trial the following Sunday.
-
RS - Kenz went through a stage of my entire heel pattern was slow pace until she settled enough with her crabbing and I would slowly start upping the pace as we progressed. She would be quite happy to start a heel pattern at slow .

I hear Scoota didn't do to badly tonight given he has been in holiday mode - not sure what happened in UDX but I do know he came second in both UD and Open with good scores. Well done Ptolomy and Scoota.

Well done SLLH . I hear on the grapevine that Scoota wasn't totally on holiday tonight and put in a nice showing in both Open and UD - well done Scoota and Ptolomy.

and I don't bet he didn't enjoy every moment of that. Sooo much better then a trial .

Just caught the last bit - Scoota is on holiday just have a good time .

I always laugh that the judges say if you don't hear them to stop or let them know - hmmm I have always wondered how do you know you haven't heard them if you haven't heard them ;).

Bugger - fairies suck .

Oooooh really - is it exciting - and are they too busy drinking to confirm might we be waiting a while .

Nah not this time kallistar - 4 weeks to finish my PhD ready for submission by the end of November and still need to find a job. Not to mention Kenz has just come up badly lame after a walk last night . Poor girl has been suffering the BC equivalent of depression - totally shutting down on leash walks do I tried to make it up to her and take her for a nice walk off-lead up on a brush track with a bit of swimming thrown in for good measure. She certainly perked up a heap but paid the price .

Don't tell me you have "broken" her already SK .
-
SK - I thought she sounded like she was being a little to well behaved on her long car ride home yesterday ;). She was just saving herself up.

You're the Voice - check out the video clip on youtube might give you prop ideas - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxlE7yCSHAM Thats what i normally do for prop ideas LOL.

Hmmm ok thinking on the fly - "Hearts on Fire" - freestanding cut out heart - send the dog around (both ways) - from a distance, have the dog circle it and continue circling it. Normal tricks - leg weaves, heelwork (LHS, RHS, across the front of you). You could make up a platform type prop and do something like I did with Kenz and the chimney. Distance COP type tricks

Starters 1 to 1.5min. Novice 1.5 min to 3 min. Intermediate 2 min to 3.5 min. I would probably aim for around 2 min in Novice based on the guidelines.
-
LOL well kallistar - the routine Kenz did for Intermediate at the judges thing is the same music she did for her Starters routine in Sydney. There are guidelines for each level based on suggested time. I would think 1 min 20 for Novice might be a little short. Kenz's Starters freestyle was 2 min her Intermediate routine was 2.5 min.

I have seen photos . She looks very cute.
-
SLLH I wouldn't stress to much - I have had to have Kenz rested more then I care to think about and she hasn't had as much training time as I would really have liked yet in the end she would still come out and work a nice round. If you have a dog with a tendency to become bored easily or switch off then it can actually work to your advantage to back off the training before a trial so they are at there most "driven" come trial day.

Might want to add plastic wrappers to that mix of distractions - naughty me just went to the park to do a couple of UDX sendaways. Hmmm first couple were absolutely brilliant even when a white sammie decided to race along the fence didn't distract Kenz. But as I always do I then asked for another one and she found a bit of plastic sandwich wrapper and went and sat on that instead of her "mat". Who would have thought LOL.

Ptolomy can you not just play rent a handler . Just organise for RV to trial the kids .
