  1. I had one like that under the old rules in novice which I felt should have been a refusal but wasn't called. You will probably also find the judges are somewhat lenient on refusals in novice anyway amypie. They tend to give the handler and dog the benefit of the doubt especially on a round that is otherwise clear.
  2. Vickie I couldn't get the link of Trim to work - says its listed as private. Fly is doing really well though .
  3. Sorry I meant your local state (i.e. DogsQld) canine shop - DogsSA have a shop on their grounds which is open during the week and when they have shoes on and stock dog related items so I presumed other states might have similar. It was certainly the cheapest I could find for an airline crate.
  4. I am proud of myself I was going to order stuff - managed to reduce my cart down to 2-3 items and then said stuff it I don't need those either .
  5. Hmmm your local canine shop?? I got mine from the supply shop at the canine - 36" - i.e. BC sized.
  6. Urgh lame dogs are complicated - 2 nights ago at obedience training Kenz was lame enough that we didn't last 5 paces in the heelwork before it was apparent to everybody watching something was up today she had a good run at the beach because she has an ortho specialist appointment tomorrow and little devil has been as sound as ever. Talk about frustrating . You really start to think its all in your head.
  7. SecretKei has already been stalking that particular blog .
  8. So do I get to meet the maligator when she is in town or is her schedule fully booked .
  9. Can we get a photo Ptolomy - sounds intriguing.
  10. Well done OSS - i think I saw a picture of your whippie doing agility - were there any other whippets in the trial?
  11. well I loaned my brother my 50mm 1.8 lens and I haven't seen it back yet is hardly leaves his camera either.
  12. What about a crate for her in the sleep out - if your not allowed to sleep in there. Is she crate trained?
  13. The base level of drive is genetic but the ability to utilize whatever level the dog has is training.
  14. I agree with Vickie - its not how much drive its how much useable drive and does the dog have adequate drive to perform the given task at the level you are wishing. A high drive dog on its own agenda might perform less well in the ring then a moderately driven but highly biddable dog. Lots of dogs in the trial ring aren't performing to there genetic potential anyway - it possible to have a moderate to high drive dog and still kill drive so they don't perform to the best of there ability. Whereas its also possible to have a slightly lower drive dog and work them to the maximum of their potential and have them out perform the more moderate drive dog. Drive is certainly a very relative term. I performed a Dances with Dogs routine at a mock trial recently and was told I could score better if I took some drive out of my youngster.
  15. Nice photos and nice present. I get my brothers 60D on test drive tomorrow - well I think I do - can't wait from the 10 min I was able to borrow it the other night.
  16. Yeah I know mine was as well but we still did a month of it MG - I did read a heap in the process and agreed to that. I drew the line at 8 weeks though. Mostly because the problem with a shoulder is they are always placing it under strain. Agree though in the end to prevent the no hooning around at home crating was about the only way it could be managed. I could imagine a puppy given free range at home would still be active and prone to reinjury. I would have rather OCD of the shoulder - they can treat that and the prognosis for recovery is good. Fingers crossed for Gibbs though he is of the age were OCD is a likelihood. Kenz was past that age window.
  17. Fingers crossed its not tendon/ligament damage MG - if it is I'd be crating him if you want any chance of it healing up and remaining healed. Kenz is still battling with hers nearly 12 months later and as soon as I ease up on her restrictions she is as lame as ever. If its only minor then the crating can give the ligament enough chance to "repair" themselves.
  18. SecretKei - Just to clarify SACA (DogsSA) members are also banned from using prong collars at any other time not just at ANKC club grounds and club related events. Not say i agree I have any particular view on there use but that is the situation in SA. So as long as you don't belong to DogsSA then there is no problem as there use is not "banned" outright in SA.
  19. Our local council is 2m ETA. Thats the mitcham city council requirement.
  20. Failing everything else Ptolomy - we could just combine a bit of Kenz with a bit of Strauss and then we might get the perfect figure 8 between the pair of them . Out of curiosity is he better or worse if you go around the inside post rather than the outside post first or vice versa. I know ideally you want both options available just wondered if one option was better then the other at this point in time.
  21. Way to go Xena and Gabby . Congratulations also to RS and Ruby on your JDX title.
