Ptolomy is going over to the dark side - when is she going to find time to fit it in .
-
What about rewarding her by releasing her and throwing food between your legs wuffles??
-
Even when I was doing work at a law firm and doing full days at uni Ness would still get 4-6km twice a day - until Ptolomy got her stick out and told me she didn't need that much and would work better in obedience if I walked her less .
-
RS - not really they don't take that long about 15-20 min. I had 2 walks done yesterday before 9am and then did another 2 after 6pm. Its no different to the amount of time she would get otherwise its just split into 4 rather than 2.
-
Its not to bad - so long as its not 36+++ otherwise its then a little tricky to get 4 walks in. Just back from walk number 2 for the day . If I don't walk her then she is stir crazy - we have a few days of 36 coming up and we might just aim for 3 walks especially since we are pushing slightly longer distances now.

Hmmm Kenz was going great until she fell of a ledge this morning because of a bloody cat. She is up to 1.65km 4 times a day and being confined (but not on crate rest) the rest of the time. This morning was her first 1.8km walk. All she is allowed are leash walks and I am allowed to increase the distance by 10%, twice a week. The specialist is using the same rehab protocol he would recommend if she had had joint surgery. She had her second PRP injection last Tuesday.

Vets All Natural - Perfect Puppy Nutrition
ness replied to Dr Bruce Syme's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Normal programming question - what is the absolute minimum time you can soak the complete mix for. On days when I feed it I normally place it in there bowls up on the bench prior to heading out for a walk and then feed it shortly after arriving home again. We are normally only out for a 15-20 min quick walk around a few blocks in the morning. I tend to soak it in warmish water but not sure if I should really be soaking it any longer. And if there is anybody in Adelaide who feeds it - where do you buy your bigger bags from. I found the 1kg bag at Petstock but they never seem to have any of the larger bags in stock. -
You can also use a platform to shape perfect fronts.

I know you said its not the same as Kenz's but I do know the propensity for reinjury of anything until properly rehabbed is high. Any potential tendon/ligament damage can take many months to heal properly. Hopefully Gibbs is better soon :).

Bugger about Gibbs MG .

don't ask me kallistar - I only got half marks for my costume at the judges training trial.

Hows your DWD routine coming along stonecutter??
-
KHM now thats a practical use for them I don't have any issue with.
-
huski - I should also add Steve into my list because of the fact I was close to giving up considering Kenz would cut it in the performance ring and she did more then that even despite the rough year we had last year with injury. Even Kenz getting attacked during a training session early on which I thought was going to be a serious deal breaker it was Steve who was there to get me over that "little" obstacle and stop me totally dropping my bundle.

Sue H, Ptolomy, Bedazzledx2, Caffy and (Gina another WA guru). Without those guys I wouldn't have persisted with Ness and would therefore have never ended up getting so heavily involved.

Well done Tassie, Rory and Kirra .
-
They are just asking for trouble thats all and I am not sure they are necessary.
-
They are dangerous Jacqui - they are often to close together. They are often higher then normal equipment and they don't displace. I have seen people dragging dogs over them that shouldn't otherwise be jumping i.e. young pups, severely overweight dogs. Also the footing isn't always the best for the dog either.

Teaching My Dog To Put A Ball In My Hand
ness replied to ~Rumour~'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Have you tried backchaining a formal retrieve aka Shirley Chong?? http://www.shirleych...s/retrieve.html Although I have to say I didn't actually do that with my retrieve mad youngster it just became a case of if you didn't bring it back and place it in my hand then you wouldn't have it thrown again. -
Or not fill in the gaps - who wants to make some of them publically known . I just wish they would stop putting "agility" equipment into all of them as standard. Its particularly dangerous especially some of the wooden barriers they have. Sure maybe have concrete tunnels covered with earth but the wooden jumps in particular concern me a great deal as a potential for injury. They would be much better sticking with more natural things like dirt mounds or variable surfaces or even low items rather than some of the items they seem to contain.

what better thing to do when your dog is out of action but work out more routines for when she is back in action .
-
Its worse kallistar when having an upset tummy required 5 baths yesterday - bloody coated dogs and Kenz certainly has very fluffy pants . I wasn't so keen on the 2 middle of the night toilet stops either and her decision to try and attempt to chase a neighbours cat at midnight. Suffice to say all toilet stops thereafter were on a harness not just her lead and collar. I just heard back about a demo she was suppose to be involved with and they are a little disappointed as she is one of the better routines. Can't help it unfortunately .

What about a bit of poly pipe covered in ribbon that you can have dowel inside to add structure to it. Kenz is recovering slower then last time - specialist apparently gave her slightly more sedative and its knocked her around. Last 2 days she has had a badly upset tummy - she is a little perkier tonight though.

SG puppy peaks would be a fantastic starting point I would imagine. She has a lovely focus on bringing up well behaved family members as well as balancing that with being a top class performance dog. Foundation exercises - I would add to the list things like crate games. It really just depends on how you use "tricks" and whether they are purely things to engage the dog with you and get them building a relationship. Things like teaching a collar grab/restrained recall/hand touch all are fairly simple behaviors which a puppy can pick up on quickly and have a multitude of uses. I did also like Sue Alisby's training levels - I have looked over them in the original form and it appears there is a new link here - http://www.sue-eh.ca/page24/page26/page10/
