Nice work with the gang on their Rally-Novice titles Terranik and especially to Rev on his first title - hopefully the first of many .
-
gsdog2 - my poor tug deprived dog will tug on anything but thats what happens when you have extended periods of rest. Hmm blades of grass and twigs are pretty awesome to apparently .
-
My problem is Kenz doesn't tug quietly all the time but we have done the tug with the lead , oh and when all else fails tug with the sleeve of my jumper :D.
-
TSD - I take each day as it comes and enjoy and treasure whatever time we have in the ring these days . No more nerves just enjoy every moment. I have to say its great to watch back the round and see no signs of soreness but to think we might still be looking at surgery does make the whole prospect seem even more daunting and leaves me scratching my head. Ah well will see what her specialist makes of her on Friday - he might yet disagree with the chiro vet's current verdict. ETA. Look at little Em go she is doing really well TSD and the spotted one isn't running badly either - well done .

Kavik - obedience people are very precious I have found. Nobody gives a toss what you do at an agility trial within reason.

Yeah that is unlikely to happen gsdog2 - hmmmmm I was tugging in the carpark and got into trouble at one trial last year.
-
yes Tassie Rory and Kenz must really stop txting over the sit on the recall walk up - after the SFE - bloooooooody dogs who like to stand instead of sit - URGH. Well done on your Rally results with both dogs and your agility pass with Kirra yesterday. Nice work on the sled racing Esky - looks like a truckload of fun. My only minor brag - I took Kenz out to do a mock trial and she would have been on a pass in Open before stays if it had been a real trial. Some things to still work on but the majority of it is there . Not bad for limited training.

Weasels - the first one wasn't traumatic enough you think you might go back for a second . -
Still not in obedience Kavik - food has always seemed to be the preferred reward.

Things are changing in some respects gsdog2. Not sure but we headed out to a mock trial this morning and the vast majority use food however I did see a few people around with tug toys (mostly in the rally ring). I guess I have just gone about things my own way - we have regular club training and I have been proactive and trained the way I have wanted to. Can't say I saw to many raised eyebrows to using a tug this morning and it wasn't my regular club that were hosting the mock trial. I tend to reward if I think she has done something well. This morning I did opt to reward at the end of a heel pattern because she was already being a little naughty and trying to pinch the toy while working but did settle towards the end. I will almost always reward a SFE because she use to be a super nervy dog although I probably needn't these days. I have problems with rewarding after a retrieve because she goes through phases of finding that more rewarding then the game of tug or any food reward I have to offer.

I agree with Greytmate about making it clear to the public the expectations. All our dogs had crates and even though my oldest actually spent bugger all time in it if she had needed a time out it was available. Also since the weather wasn't overly hot when I wanted to go for a bit of a look around I moved both dogs back into the car (mine are use to spending time in there when training or at trials) in the exhibitor carpark where they were a lot safer and away from potential issues with the public. Our stand also had a grooming table out the front where one of the dogs who was suitable for the crowd to pat was stationed and we rotated the dogs so there was normally somebody available for people to pat.

I had my guys at the pet expo over the weekend and yes one of my dogs is an anybody can pat me type and that was the reason I took her. She is an absolute veteran at expos - not really phased by a lot and use to coping with the unexpected. My other youngster can be timid of strange people so she was taken to demo her routine and then mostly left in her crate rather than walked around the expo. What I couldn't believe was I was standing maybe 2m away with my other dog out chatting to a member of the public and my young dog was closed in her crate at the back of our area and I turned around and found a kid who had ducked in between a super narrow gap between our stand and the stand next door and had proceeded to open my girls crate and stick her head in there. Boy was I ropeable. I literally hurled the kid out of the crate and tore strips off the parents for allowing it. NOT amused. It might have ended in disaster if I hadn't been standing right there and happened to catch a glimpse out the corner of my eye. ETA. Actually Esky I had the opposite experience at the Adelaide expo I found most (aside from the kid in crate incident) did ask whether it was ok to pat the dogs and parents ensuring that they had in fact asked. I won't say much of the adults who thought it was cool to try and peer into the back of crates as they went past though - erm maybe they could use a little bit of educating to.

Not a camera store but I got my local Harvey Norman to price match I think it was digital camera store prices and on a brand new released product. You can only ask the question.

Well done Cider and congratulations on the new little red kids Ptolomy .

We spent yesterday at the animal expo and why my two fluffy show bred BCs get referred to as kelpies is beyond me . Its not the first time a stranger has come up and asked me if they are kelpies either .

Because BC4ME I was told I could do no further damage. I specifically mentioned the demo and was told it should be ok. Her body is falling apart as it is and she enjoys it so I say why not. I wasn't told to rest her just not do any agility training with her (not that we have done a lot anyway). My bigger worry was still the shoulder and that is the one that bothered her the most but the specialist has also said what degree of soreness she has at the moment is what she will be left with. And there were a number of jumping moves I removed from the routine because I was told not to let her jump. I can either lock her away at home where she is just as likely to injure herself being a stupid twit or let her do things which she enjoys for as long as she can. I know which she would rather do.

Not sure that helps me any to know that. Pretty sure he knows what he is diagnosing. I am not even sure how she did it.

Slippery floor, with a super feral dog = recipe for disaster especially considering all she has been through made worse by the most recent issue of a torn muscle in her right hind only diagnosed by the chiro vet on Friday . Yep there is video - don't laugh to hard. I did learn the longer routines probably need a little more thought and I reached the limit on my ability to improvise a routine . It didn't help having to remove some of what I wanted to include a fairly significant slab of moves because she wasn't allowed to jump. Not sure she should have done all she did either mind you . Still considering all the issues I use to have with shutting down and scary people she coped exceptionally well with the "crowds".
-
Well done Kallistar. Fantastic work and yep would love to see video if there is any. We did end up doing our demo at the expo. Hmmmmm I would give her marks for enthusiasm but it was hard going. Floor was slippery and I had to baby her through it because of worrying about injuries - not the most enjoyable routine I have done with her.
-
Thanks shantiah.

. I am sure they all go running when I send an email although in part they are much to polite about it .
-
Hmmm ok lets see with everything else so far she has had the involvement of 2 ortho specialists, a physio, our normal vet, my vet friend and the chiro vet (and a person who just does massage).
-
She has had some intermittent lameness however she came up completely not weight bearing on it over Easter to the point where I had to carry her home. However because she also has a luxating patella in her other knee its hard to work out what she is favouring for what reason and does leave me second guessing on occasion. She has been undergoing rehab for her shoulder and has only just started having her total exercise restrictions lifted. We have got to the point of gradually reintroducing more active stuff. So as to recent I am not sure how recent. Clear as mud probably and starting to confuse the hell out of me.

Oh sorry I should have clarified that "he" is the local chiro vet who has a background in greyhounds.
