She had issues again this morning - rang the chiro vet he wasn't keen on anything much from his end given she is under the care of the specialist atm. Specialist is away for another fortnight but I have emailed him on the off chance he is on emails while he is away .

Both dogs were attacked last night. I am not sure if Kenz's issue is as a result of that or whether its made whatever it is worse .

Tonight she was so lame she couldn't walk home from the park - we had only been out on a 10 min trip around the block. It looked like she was having issues with the patella but she was also walking with her head really low. Her whole body posture changed. I tried putting her down a couple of times and she was still having issues so I ended up carrying her home. I couldn't watch her try and struggle to walk .

Does anybody know if a Grade 1 luxation post-surgery could still cause the dog appreciable problems (and is it possible for it to cause more problems then a Grade 2 luxation pre-surgery). And what sort of activities may be making the situation worse? I have been told I don't have to be careful with her but I am not so convinced since it seems to be getting worse.

just watch she doesn't roll in them. Dunno mine will happily eat tinned sardines but the few times I have tried to give them a whole sardine they have both turned their noses up at them.

ok who crashed the page. I went to load up CR before and I got a rude error message. -
Still sore in the front end, stretches herself a heap, and the surgery leg appears to be bothering her fairly frequently to.
-
Sounds like he might have just "tweaked" something then or over done it on this particular occasion. I wouldn't stress to much about it.

I am really confused now Danois - problem is knowing that the patella isn't stable, knowing the right shoulder has shown signs on ultrasound of biceps tendonitis. I know she isn't back to normal and its hard to know which way to look.

The foam balls are awesome - pity my little girl isn't allowed to fetch anymore . -
I forgot I hadn't mentioned the rest of her story - it may make more sense if I do - this whole specialist saga started with front end right shoulder lameness and a likely diagnosis of biceps tendonitis. It was decided to treat that with a series of PRP injections and that was done Christmas last year after we had already spent 12 months with more conservative measures i.e. crate rest/restricted exercise/physio/chiro/acupuncture. Things have been fine with her shoulder since that time.

Hmmm beyond frustrating - last two nights for whatever reason Kenz has been markedly lame in her front right. I tried taking it relatively easy with her today and she is still a mess tonight. Thing is though is that the shoulder issue flaring up or is there really more to the whole situation then we might imagine . Confused and no idea what to make of anything .

RS - Have you asked Ptolomy how many i-squeaks she might have ordered. -
LOL mix powder in with a teaspoon of yoghurt - problem solved. Joint guard is smell less so they can't tell.
-
You could try putting him on fish oil and something like joint guard long term. That should help as well.

Definitely recommend a second opinion from a good chiro SM.

I had baby gate on the stairs so she couldn't. But she was also tired to the desk where I was working (least for the first few days). Then she just seemed to behave herself.

Kenz was crated for 6 weeks. He doesn't have to stay inside 24/7. Given the weather is nice at this time of year if you can sit out somewhere in the sun with a kong or a bone or something it is a good change of scenary for them. Kenz use to come in the car with me when I ran errands. I found a few outings broke up the day. She also spent lots of time snoozing so I didn't crate her to much during the first few weeks. When she started feeling bored and more active she got crated more often. I found doing any training (even low key training) difficult for her because she would want to throw herself into everything at a million miles an hour. However you can do things like hand touches/stays/nose work games.

RS yep I emailed Ptolomy .

- tried to walk her today and she just wasn't interested really. Very unlike her. She still seems to be lacking power in her hind end in a big way and especially her surgery leg .

Nice photo of Brookie .

6 months post-op and you can still tell the difference in Kenz's. I actually slept fairly well the night Kenz was there. Stark contrast to the amount of sleep I managed the night before .

Yikes PA - not sure I could do that either. Glad to hear it all went well though.

Good news PA - do you know what they did?
