  1. Rally-O will be probably held in conjunction with the obedience trials - but I guess it will be a little like this year. Dates will come up in the trial calendar as the year progresses. I would hazard a guess its possible that those clubs that hosted Rally-O in conjunction with their obedience trials may do so again next year. But that may also not necessarily be the case.
  2. Hmmm so fast forward a few weeks - had to have a phone conversation with the neurospecialist about a week ago. He wants more video and I am to keep doing as I am with her which is not much other than free running or walks. I have been told if she has obvious pain then I should make an appointment for her. The problem is I still can't seem to get useful video. By the time I get the video running she seems to be ok again. She is still having random issues with not being able to get up the stairs though. I am very frustrated because its still there but its not. I am starting to wish it would either vanish totally or get worse so we could get some decent video of the issue. .
  3. Well done gsdog2 . Congratulations on your CCD title with Indi. Onto Novice you go .
  4. Nice work huski - will you end up trialling her?
  5. I agree pepe, for your average opportunistic criminal the dogs barking at the door would be enough to send them looking for somewhere else to target.
  6. Hi Esky - I gather the silver reflective ones are suppose to be good. I have one of the saratoga white ones and not especially impressed with it. It fits well but dries out quickly so I tend to use my cool champion ones in preference.
  7. You can do conservative measures for a torn ACL. Crate rest for 8 weeks etc. They can repair if you limit the movement. A few links - http://tiggerpoz.com/ (this one has lots of useful and helpful information) http://www.whole-dog-journal.com/issues/13_2/features/Canine-Ligament-Injury-Options_16198-1.html
  8. So sorry to read RV - run free Toby. Hugs RV.
  9. Even perfectly "friendly" dogs can do unintentional damage to a pup. Just through there sheer body size difference. Certain breeds have a much rougher play style and can unintentionally do damage even if they don't mean to.
  10. Hugs RV - I know what its like to see your dog in pain and wanting to be able to help them . Fingers crossed for Toby.
  11. Thanks Piper I was going on memory - I have had one of each the ringeez did end up getting trashed the lollycadoodle ring is still in one piece.
  12. Lollycadoodle are bigger then the ringezz from memory.
  13. Yep the bunny tugs should get through free shipping. The wool rings are awesome .
  14. Kenz has always done a formal retrieve for the chance to do it again . The first time I threw a DB she raced out after it bought it back and gave me a perfect present. Rinse and repeat. Yep she will take a tug if presented with but honestly I would be kidding myself if I believed she was taking it as a reward. The retrieve behavior would not diminish if I stopped "rewarding" with a tug.
  15. Thanks for the thoughts temperamentfirst. I don't really know - first I had heard of the febella. I still wonder if enough was done in surgery the first time but I don't know if thats the closed minded approach to things. The chirovet feels there is more going on then just the patella. I just don't have an open budget to be able to carry out huge diagnostics at the moment without justification that it may help and it may change what we are doing. I haven't got that from anybody yet.
  16. Try teaching her a chin target and then reintroduce a retrieve. It may help with the moving backwards otherwise reward placement in front of the dowel (DB bar) to encourage her to come forward.
  17. Hmmm well things haven't lasted - its back to looking as bad as it was a fortnight ago. Kenz is struggling tonight. Couldn't get up the stair case again, had issues with her hind end when out on our walk tonight. I don't think the specialist has any ideas if his email to me is anything to go by other than if its the left stifle we could go through surgery again. I am beside myself at the moment its not fair on her .
  18. What about the local dog beach - I can see it being a popular venture .
  19. Yep Associate dogs can compete in herding trials so long as they are a mix or apparent mix of a herding breed. This is taken from the DogsSA website: "Mixed breeds may be accepted provided they are a mix or apparent mix of herding breeds. These must be Associate Registered Dogs"
  20. Thanks - that is as I thought - nothing wrong either way.
  21. AdelK9 (Mark Singer) since you are in this thread - can you clarify how you would best describe your current training methods?
  22. The person in their original request also stipulated the following: "she is in the 100% positive camp". I do stand to be corrected but I am not sure Mark's training method would fit within this criteria. I have had no personal experiences with him so can't comment directly. I am sure he is good at what he does but I don't think he would classify himself as 100% positive. If this person is in the 100% positive camp, regardless of people's personal views on the reliability or otherwise of these methods then she is better off seeking out one of the others recommended.
  23. I have had good experiences with the third specialist centre in the state - VetSAIR - http://www.vetsair.com.au/.
