Kenz went ahead and had her first underwater treadmill session today and it was a bit of a disaster. She wasn't especially happy and her back end is a mess. Back on strict rest and only a few 1 min walks a day until her next appointment on Monday - URGH.
-
Hugs Cosmolo. Hopefully he will pick up soon enough. The first 24-48 hours are the supposedly the roughest things do improve.
-
Situation is not good - requested medical records because I thought I would book her into use the underwater treadmill only to read in the records the finding that her surgery leg as of February 2013 was dx as a high grade 2 MPL. Her leg was that before I put her through surgery and numerous amounts of physio/chiro/acupuncture. NOT IMPRESSED . So what should have happened all along was a revision surgery rather than the specialist stringing me along that things would improve from where they were. .

It was there definition of "small" that I was shocked at but I guess compared to what I have spent on the rest of her appointments there what I was charged was "small" . Its certainly a relative concept. I would have thought a fee covering the vet nurses time and any materials but I know the shipping costs were picked up by the researchers otherwise that might have explained the amount charged.

The handsome Flynn, one of the Wonderdogs . Great ad.

No didn't I guess its my own fault for not checking before it was done. At the time it was taken they didn't know whether there would be a "small" charge. But I hung around and when no invoice was forth coming they sent me on my way.

What about incrementally increasing your pace if he is ok at normal pace rather than go straight to a "fast" pace you can gradually increase your pace.

Grrrr not amused just went to pick up more pain meds to find I was billed for having blood pulled to include in the US research project which is of no benefit to me and money I could have used towards keeping my girl comfortable.

A couple of pictures of my baby girl taken today during a small break outside .

She is bored but meds seem to be working in that she doesn't look lame but she isn't doing much either. Has been suggested she possibly needs a minimum of a fortnight of no activity in case its soft tissue injury .

Thats a very good price for the product Trishm . -
Bargain Esky. I have looked around a few times to use one for rehabbing Kenz but not come across anything suitable .
-
My understanding is the dog specific ones are longer and wider then the human ones and if you use something to small the dog can't stride correctly.
-
Thats my understanding to Piper. Its also my understanding that a low titre level doesn't necessarily mean the dog isn't covered. There is some school of thought that if the dog registers any level then they still have immunity.

She is currently going free to anybody who wants her. She thinks she is raring to go after I have been at work all day so is now waiting on her afternoon/evening outing. Sorry to disappoint her. I let her out of her crate but bought her onto the bed in my room and now she is giving me the evil look. Although touch wood meds seem to have worked and she isn't looking quite the disaster she has been. I think by the end of the weekend we will both be pulling our hair out with rest.
-
So the verdict is back on max dosage pain meds, crate rest and hope things settle. Not sure what the outcome will be if they don't. She was still struggling this morning when I let her out for a toilet break before leaving for the day .

The last 24 to 48 hours have fast turned into hell. Not managing to hold it together very well .

So things just keep going downhill. This morning on a short walk she came up 3 legged lame on her RH and was an absolute mess. She looked so miserable. I had her off-lead at her favourite park and she just lay there. This is the same dog who we normally get there and she is bouncing around wanting a game, wanting to train and telling me what for if I do nothing with her. Have had it suggested there is probably no point in considering surgery because of how she didn't do very well with her LH. My poor baby girl. She is a walking disaster and I so don't know where to turn . The comment is to rest her, give her meds and see how she does .

I don't see why it couldn't sheena. Its also suppose to support general health and wellbeing. Just for anybody in Adelaide who is looking to buy the product the Petbarn at Mile End did have the smaller containers of RHVC in stock. We happened to call in today to stock up on treats and I noticed they did have some. -

In answer to Jess the Labs question I have been informed: GOPO is the registered name for the patented compound which is activated by the patented drying process used to manufacture the powder. The canine powder has the same GOPO content as the human product, it's just that the APMVA were very strict and would not allow the company to use the word GOPO on the canine product packaging. -

Trisham - behluka mentioned a few pages back that they were going to start stocking it in the next week or so. Given that was a little while ago you might find they stock it now. Otherwise order online - I think Omar's Vet Clinic had a reasonable price for it - http://ovedshorseandpetstore.com.au/ Jess the Lab - the only difference between the human product and the dog product is the human product is finer. Presuming extra processing is required to make it finer and therefore the reason why its more expensive. -

Congrats again Xena98 - sorry to have missed your routine but I am sure it was brilliant . My only DWD news is a couple of weekends ago Kenz managed 4 routines over 2 days at the Adelaide pet expo. She had an absolute ball and showed how much she just loves to perform. Proud of my baby girl she has certainly blossomed from those early days when I took a somewhat nervy, timid dog over to that DWD trial in Sydney back at the end of 2009. I was watching her videos from that performance and comparing them to how she was at the expo. I still marvel at how well she did back then. Totally different dog now and 100% miss attitude. Not such a good thing for competitions but given she probably won't trial again in anything I do let her get away with murder and it shows. The crowd loved her though .
