  1. Winpara just posted on FB that Sylvie has been found safe and well albeit a little tired and with sore feet.
  2. There are also plenty of show line bred BCs competing successfully in the agility rings. Most importantly is a healthy, fit, sound dog who has had DNA tested parents for the various conditions (TNS, CL, CEA) and hip and elbow scores that can affect a BC. That's not saying any of your list are not breeders worth considering but more just information to consider as a part of your research.
  3. No word on Sylvie as far as I can find - last spotted on Wednesdays seems to be the latest update.
  4. Bugger Ptolomy - fingers crossed that Jaffa returns and also that Winpara's Sylvie is found soon safe and well.
  5. So Kenz is finally getting the hang of the underwater treadmill and she managed a couple of 3 min stints today. Have a very tired BC now. Lucky for me since she is to be otherwise rested between sessions. Hope it helps her.
  6. Yeah I want a mag ball. On the list if I get back to training and stop having expensive vet bills. Kenz loves her mag tugs though .
  7. thats ok she doesn't realize her age either - she is still more then physically up to it I am the weak link in the motivation chain .
  8. Yeah thats about what I came up with as well Sheena. I was hoping to find a more creditable reference though since its all a bit wishy washy.
  9. No problems - always happy to follow up on any questions :). I have certainly tried a number of the available products and to date this appears to be the best suited for both my girls with their varying conditions and ages.
  10. yes but my old girl is 13 soon and my motivation for dog training has gone.
  11. Sheena - not sure about the loose poos my super sensitive girl had no issue with it and my other one didn't have a problem either. The vitamin C debate is a bit of a tricky one. This is what i was given based on the question posed: As far as the RHVC is concerned there is no research which supports the idea that a dog that doesn't have Arthritic changes will become dependent on RHVC. The vitamin C and antioxidant content provides support to the immune which helps the immune system discourage the attack on joints as well as providing a wide range of other health benefits. As I already mentioned, given the presence of vitamin C isn't exclusive to the RHVC supplement as I found it in at least one other commonly prescribed brand of joint based product which has been around for years (and honestly I didn't look into the others just the ones I have used) I personally wouldn't be worried about using RHVC over any other joint product if they all have a similar issue. However I guess as I already mentioned I am unlikely to put a dog on a supplement for arthritis or joint supplement as a short term treatment.
  12. Mr R & NR - yep that sounds sensible to me - this is the clarification I got provided with in relation to your question. I guess I didn't expand on the reasoning when I responded and this is the expanded reasoning: Since it usually takes about 3 weeks before the benefits of RHVC will be noticed, and because RHVC can be taken in conjunction with any other medication (no known contra-indications), the recommendation would be to add RHVC to the existing joint management regime and then after three weeks begin to reduce other medication and supplements. One could stop other treatments at the same time as introducing RHVC, however, there is a risk that the dog's condition may deteriorate before improving as RHVC needs time to start working.
  13. Should get out and see if Ness remembers what to do since she is currently up to a track 3. Hmmmmm but I don't do cold and wet anymore and it sounds like effort.
  14. Depends Roxy - jumping is fairly straight forward and if you have good control and the dog is handler responsive without to many major issues you could probably get around a novice jumping course by September.
  15. K9Pro have leather collars and I would imagine are well suited for large breed dogs. http://www.k9pro.com.au/categories/Dog-Collars/
  16. Sorry Sheena I missed that comment of yours previously - would be interesting to find an answer. I have been searching but can't find anything evidence wise to back up the statement which seems to appear on some pages and not on others (although I don't think the sites were 100% reputable from a scientific perspective).
  17. Thanks megan_. I have also emailed the company to ask the question - given the extensive testing that was done as a prerequisite to receiving registration I might have thought that was something that was considered.
  18. Have you got access to any literature re the vitamin c comment megan_ - curious to have a read. Just for the record I googled some of the other joint supplements and things like joint guard also contain vitamin C.
  19. In a dog who has had major ortho surgery I am not sure why you wouldn't want to give some sort of supplement for life. I don't think most people who start dogs on any form of supplement do so for a short term. Supplements are never a short term addition to a diet unless your supplementing because the dog (or human) is low in something as a booster.
  20. Somebody posted this question on the RHVC FB page and the advice was continue to use both while putting the dog through the loading dose of the RHVC then once the dog is back on the maintenance dose then gradually reduce the dosage of the other supplements if you wish to.
  21. No explanation other than Kenz's case is complicated by the neurological issue and thats why its been difficult. I have chronically lame who can't manage a walk around the block without being lame. I also have youngish dog who's brain is crying out to be put to use and who's body just can't tolerate it. This is the "complication" to Kenz's case - here is a BC collapse episode if people haven't seen one before: This is actually a fairly mild episode for her. They are much more frightening, occur more frequently and without much sign of warning now .
  22. Yep I have video from today so I could have a look at it after her session. Its just hard to know if its the right decision of whether its prolonging yet another surgery decision. I felt really disappointed when I read her records and found that her surgery leg was no better then it was before surgery and really leaves me wondering about anything. .
  23. One I went completely cold on and swapped completely the other was kept on a combination of both as I had stuff left to use up. It certainly won't hurt doing so (well anything other than the $$$ for doing so).
  24. Yep its definitely been checked - specialist is super familiar with the condition. When I had a conversation with the rehab tech in the US that was the first thing he bought up and so I did ask the question. She had her second hydrotherapy underwater treadmill session today. It seemed to go better then her last appointment in that she was much happier on the treadmill but she doesn't really seem to be moving especially well at all.
