  1. Seeana I followed up your question with the company and got this response back: "... [t]he recommended human and dog dosages are both based on scientific research. For dogs the dose is split into three weight categories because there is such a huge difference between a very small dog and a very large dog. Eg a Chihuahua might weigh about 1.5kg compared to 75kg Great Dane or St Bernard We do hear of some people who find a higher dosage is what they need and we also hear from some people who find a smaller than recommended dose is enough for their dog. Ideally the recommended dose should be followed for maximum benefit". My aside on the dosage issue is this - I have 2 border collies (a 13kg one an a 17kg one) - both are on maintenance dose. My 17kg girl is getting a heaped scoop whereas my 13kg girl is getting somewhere between 2-3 scoops even on maintenance dose. The product is a "safe" tolerance of 5 x loading dose so there is room to vary the amount given. My youngster is on 2-3 scoops on advice from the company because of the complexity of her issues and in an attempt to keep her off/on reduced quantities of more conventional medications.
  2. The Rapid Rewards one is on free shipping if thats any good SnT - http://www.cleanrun....6&ParentCat=449 So is the Trek & Train - http://www.cleanrun....7&ParentCat=449
  3. I will have to look up the instructions - I have done some of this ages ago on advice from Denise to help with crabbing. I remember having a treat in between my thumb and finger to get the dogs head into the right position.
  4. Winterpaws - try him on some Rose-Hip Vital Canine. Its a natural based anti-inflammatory and I have had huge success with my oldie on it .
  5. Is the knee stable korbin? If its totally unstable and with a large breed dog your probably better off getting the surgery done. The recovery/rehab period is long enough without stuffing around.
  6. TheLBD well my suggestion was closer then Goolwa and its about 8km. The 4km loop is nothing .
  7. If anybody is still fence sitting there was an announcement this afternoon on the Rose-hip vital canine facebook page that they are giving away to 100 lucky dogs a free 150gm container. Click here to register: www.rosehipvitalcanine.com.au/facebook
  8. Kenz had UWTM session number 10 today. Still frustrated by the fact they won't seem to up the duration of her sessions by much but she did ok again today. She got a whole extra 45 seconds of treadmill time . At least she didn't get away with cheating quite so much today we upped the treadmill speed a bit and there was no front paws on the front of the machine like there was on Tuesday. She had totally fresh batteries by the time we had finished the session and was ready for a walk and a game = HMMMMMMMM somehow I don't think we really did enough but hopefully its still helping a bit. Thanks to the generosity of some DOL'ers who have already mostly outed themselves in another thread she has another 4 sessions to go. I owe you guys as I almost certainly wouldn't have been able to continue with anymore for the immediate future. Kenz sends out a huge thanks as well :). And a few more fan club photos :).
  9. What frustrates me OSS is the specialist considers her LH a surgery success = hmmmm doesn't not instill me will huge levels of confidence considering how much of a problem its remained for her in the last year. Interesting White Shepherd mum re the kiddie pool. Kenz would probably not want to get out again and I would end up having 0.5cm twigs deposited in my lap and then her looking wishful at the pool the rest of the time .
  10. I will say she wasn't impressed with being made to pose for the camera in the middle of her peanut session. That is "serious" work to a broken BC. Nawww she is very cute with her rehab exercises though.
  11. Apparently Kenz has developed a bit of a following so here are a few photos as requested :)
  12. Kenz had another session today. She seems to be making improvements but we are little frustrated with the amount she is allowed to do. It seems to take some time before she settles and no sooner does she get settled then her session is over. Its like she just gets the momentum happening and starts walking properly and then its the end of her third short session. 9 minutes seems like bugger all and she is sooooo feral when we finish up.
  13. she had them both go again over the weekend. Its just so not fair . Its so hard to see her in pain .
  14. If you wanted to get it checked - I would recommend seeing Dr Warren Foreman at Adelaide Animal Hospital. He is about as close as we have in Adelaide to a vet with reasonable dentistry focus background. http://adelaidevet.com.au/about/meet-our-team
  15. Same way RS - I was pretty sure you did as well but I had this discussion off list with bedazzled and wonder whether because most of our grounds require the dog to scent that it becomes a scent based exercise just as a matter of default. I certainly know our training grounds aren't any where near the bowling greens you guys train on. I guess if the dog can't use sight then it quickly adapts to using scent regardless of how its trained. I know Ness scents because when i was doing UD training I had to be careful helping set up the rings at club and couldn't put Kenz through before I had put Ness in otherwise she was known to track into both rings (the novice ring was normally set adjacent to the UD ring).
  16. You can find soft play pens at those websites that I linked earlier westiemum.
  17. Mine have K9+ soft crates. They certainly wouldn't be noisy if the dog got up. Are you able to tether him to anything so he could remain on the bed but not have any room to wander? You can normally pick up cheap soft crates from top buy or deals direct - forgive me as I am not sure on an appropriate westie sized crate so don't know if this would be suitable. http://www.dealsdire...folding-kennel/ http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Large-Portable-Soft-Pet-Dog-Crate-Cage-Kennel-Blue-p183897.htm?search_words=crate
  18. sounds like he has fallen on "hard times". What a hardship for the poor boy snoozing on the neighbours lap over a cup of tea. Jokes aside sounds like he has found a fantastic home and will be spoiled rotten .
  19. How then do you train it RS if its not as a scent exercise? Sorry a bit off topic but I am confused because both of mine were taught the way I think Ptolomy teaches it and yet then both scent out the article rather than use sight. We don't have bowling green trial grounds and yet Ness never missed a seekback in a trial in all her UD trialling career. Messed up every other exercise just about but never a seekback.
  20. Seems like its constantly 1 step forward 2 steps back .
  21. Hmm except the word from the specialist is the RH MPL will still need to be repaired most likely at some stage . Sigh she was in the front hallway about 15 minutes ago just walking and ended up I think luxating them both. She wasn't just three legging she was almost only on front end only and then went mega sooky and ended up in my lap on the floor .
  22. How many different places do you "train" them leopuppy? And do you have any issues on trial grounds where you have trained? Just wondered if there was a way to recreate the box issue/seekback issue. Are you able to organise for somebody to train with at a different location and have them set up the box and run a seekback?
  23. She has done a small amount of tracking training DD but really never seemed to pick it up and I can only guess its nerves attached to following stranger scent. For a dog who normally picks up everything so quickly she just didn't get it.
  24. Hugs but it will definitely be for the best and I am sure the westies will be glad to have their mum back and not have to share with the "intruder".
