  1. I have heard or read similar biker girl - not sure where though.
  2. Yep Limited Register BCs are eligible to compete at the Nationals.
  3. I actually didn't find the last Bunny fluff (or Ram tuff) tug especially lasting. The fleece wasn't plaited especially tightly and didn't seem to hold up. The two handled bunny tug might however be worth considering as it seems a little more durable. If you want well constructed fur tugs try somewhere like Rush to Tug. http://www.rushtotug.com/ My better fur/fleece tugs have come from Kollars By Kathryn however I am loathed to recommend them because I know people have had problems getting products in a timely manner. Rush to Tug seem to be a little more reliable as far as service is concerned and I know others who have used them recently and the service has been prompt.
  4. Other than our Test 1 and Test 2 we normally don't have a track layer at the end of normal tracking trials. One judge did this year but tracklayer was put back out once the track was being run (well just prior). TSD trials the track layer gets put back out at the appropriate time prior to the track being worked.
  5. yes she was out like a space cadet for the first 11 days - seemingly I think the 100mg were a little high and she was a little sensitive. She is on 50mg to have as necessary now though with her on-going issues. Will have fingers crossed she starts using the leg soon.
  6. A comparison Kenz (~13.5kg) was on 6-8 hourly tramadol for the first 11 days post-op fairly hefty dosage 100mg tablets. She was also on 60mg carprofen per day. If she isn't using the leg I was told that is suggestive of pain so to make sure she had enough meds in her system. Kenz had physio starting at 6 weeks post-op. There is only one physio in the state though and I thought she was still off on maternity leave. Happy to be corrected though because Kenz could use it.
  7. Good to hear she came through surgery well. I think I would be a little concerned she wasn't using the leg at all a week post-op but hopefully by the time she has the stitches out she has started to use it again. Is she on an anti-inflam as well as the tramadol?
  8. I voted with my two on the way out for our morning walk this morning. The voting was in a community centre and I tied them up out of the way (but there were lots of jokes being made about whether they were voting, they got handed their own voting "junk mail "). All in good humour. We are in the suburbs. When I came out to get mine somebody had tied up an OES nearby.
  9. Good temperament is nothing if the dog isn't physically sound enough to make use of whatever atributes it may show temperament wise. There is no point in having a herding breed who is sweet natured and energetic but is unable to use that because they have a body which is falling apart. I can understand why the emphasis is therefore on physical structure (and hopefully soundness).
  10. Run free Joey. Sorry for your loss but as everybody else has already said he was a very spoiled and well loved little boy.
  11. Hugs Jules and yes I totally agree its hard when they are struggling for whatever reason .
  12. Hows Joey?? I read in another thread about you trying something else but didn't want to clutter up the other thread.
  13. Whitka I would think the two handled bunny tug would be fine for a small dog. I used one with my BC when she was only a pup .
  14. There is also potential for pain levels to vary across the day. He also suggested I could leave Kenz there for a day for observation but I did mention that she seemed to struggle more towards the end of the day.
  15. Definitely worth asking the question and agree wouldn't do it without specialist/vet approval. Its easier for us to know if they are in pain - they can be remarkably stoic at the vet even with all the tests.
  16. - might be worth seeing if something like tramadol is of use in his circumstances (if you aren't already using it). A quick google seems to suggest not only is it useful for chronic arthritis pain conditions but in cancer type situations. Kenz has some for when she has an extra bad patch.
  17. Poor boy is he on any sort of pain meds at the moment at all?
  18. I didn't mean in the absence of anything else persephone but just wondered if it might help with the immune side of things. If it does nothing all Jule's has lost out on is trying it. I of all people know full well they aren't a miracle cure. Glad to hear he has perked up a bit today Jules.
  19. Not a breeder but there are threads regarding the use of an Alizin injection if you search. Here is one link - http://www.dolforums...in-experiences/ And a UK forum - http://www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/lofiversion/index.php?t255915.html
  20. Matthew is great and certainly worth having a chat to. He isn't one to push unnecessary surgery or testing either. Fingers crossed for Joey. Have you considered trying him on any supplements? Might be a long shot but wonder if something like the Rose-Hip Vital Canine would help with immune system.
  21. Dr Matthew Condon at Chiropet can do acupuncture but its would mean a trip into town again. He does work Saturdays though. Works Tuesday through Saturday. http://www.chiropet.com.au/
  22. Kenz had blood taken and sent over as a part of a study being done in the research. They organised the shipping though. It was sent Fedex and i don't think it was a difficult process.
  23. Poor Joey - thanks for letting us know I was thinking about him this morning. Sorry the outcome wasn't more optimistic for you. Hugs and the BC girls send gentle licks to Joey.
