Para Districts out at Salisbury have Flyball as well as puppy agility and obedience. I train at SAODC (South Australian Dog Obedience Club) and we have the 12 month rule for agility as well and you must also have graduated out of grade 5 obedience.

Once the judge has said exercise finished your free to touch your dog .
-
Yep that would be what happens here. You walk up to the peg with the dog on lead and remove the lead at the peg.
-
Agree what judges and from what state - certainly not common practice here in SA (and in WA from the few trials I entered there). By touching here your not suppose to fiddle with there collar but you may pat, play etc. Not sure what you mean by a lead out before the stay. The procedure here seems to be you take up position behind the peg somewhere and then yep you heel your dog forward but I am pretty relaxed about it and its not formal as in if your dog doesn't sit or drop you are able to ask them a few times. Judging only commences after the judge says leave your dog.

Is There A Good Dog Chiro In Perth?
ness replied to Chocolate's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
PM Ptolomy . Nah Liz Franks (Mill Point Vet Clinic) seems to be the most highly recommended over there - isn't cheap but certainly is among the best I have been to. I took my girl there when we were over in Perth just before Christmas and it seemed to have permanently fixed a few of her issues she was having. A lot of the agility people in WA use her - Ptolomy included. -
My two love GRG - oh wait no that would be the treats she gives them everytime we drop in.

Thanks for that information.

Can any body give me an idea of how large the dry bits are compared with say eagle pack.
-
Only fish Westiemum . Oh and depending what one you visit in Adelaide there are a couple of BC wandering around ;) .

GoldiesRGreat (another DOL member) is a Groomer - the Spoilt Dog Shop and isn't that far from Torrens Park. She is just on Fullaton Road. I am in Torrens Park and its about 6 minutes drive from my place. She is really nice .
-
Hey yeah Piper let me know. I am about to buy some more eaglepack but with the two of them I do go through it more quickly.
-
Actually yep I was going to say the last time I looked at petstock it was cheaper then through greyhounds.

I was going to ask how many poles are you asking. When I wanted to build speed with the weaving I went back to I think 4 poles and added them 2 at a time only when she was weaving with the desired enthusiasm (and nailing her entries from every angle). Worked for us as she is has good speed through the weavers. Oh and why I am on it are you using base plated weavers or stick in the ground weavers. I know the first few times we encountered based plated weavers in ages (at a trial over in WA) she got herself seriously caught up in them and wouldn't weave as fast as she would usually. Don't think she was happy with the base plates.

Bugger should have said Piper cos I would have been interested in getting some as well. Considering somebody isn't a huge fan of the eagle pack .

Hey Sabre's mum - you better post lots of photos of your pup. Not sure I would recommend the Port Adelaide Dog Training club but I complete in Adelaide with my older BC girl in both Obedience and Agility so if you want any information re clubs I am happy to provide some. Where is your pup from???? I just got myself a new 14 week old little baby :D . I would certainly recommend getting a crate if you intend to compete in any form of dog sports as a dog who is happy to settle and rest in its crate when its not out competing certainly has more energy to put towards competition then one who is not able to settle.

Hmm Ptolomy would they be the ones that Ness nailed at her last trial . I want to know where my lost drops have gone :D .
-
:D yes I think I would be rejoicing if my pup slept half as much (argh little terror won't settle for more than about 20 minutes at a time). Nah seriously I don't think that sounds overly normal either. However I would be more concerned if the pattern occured over a few days then just a one or two days. Sometimes they have a quieter day because they growing/recovering from the previous day etc. Haing said that my BC girl was 14 weeks last Friday and she doesn't seem to sleep very much at all.

The thermomaster dog rugs don't have velcro (other than at the front but there is also a buckle there as well). Cheapest place I found online to buy them was the vet shed.
-
Pawpaw ointment is what somebody suggested for me to try on Ness when she had run her pads into the ground on the gravel up at our country property.
-
Yep definitely had the OMG what have I done moment or three - especially when my older girl started acting up and looking very depressed. Its been nearly a month since my little BC baby joined us and its starting to settle I think. Her enthusiasm for life is just priceless .

Vaccinate,or Not To Vaccinate Yearly.
ness replied to nicestman77's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
After reading all the information I don't want to vaccinate yearly but what choice do you have if you want to train and an obedience/agility club so that you can trial. They insist on seeing yearly vaccination certicates when you renew your membership each year. Any thoughts - what do other people do to get around the club situation??? I have a nearly 8 year old who has been vaccinated roughly every 14 or so months (was able to push it out to 18 months and still cover 2 years club membership) but she will be due again in October and I don't think I want to revaccinate her. I also have a 12 week old BC pup who has had 1 C3 vaccination at the breeders and is booked in for a second C3 next week at 13 weeks. -
I dunno I know somebody here who was trialling a dog who was very obviously lame after cruciate surgery (not immediately after but not the length of time I would have rested a dog for) and the judge let the dog continue around and in fact the dog passed.
-
So are we seeing you out at agility tonight .
-
Problem with BCs is the more you walk them the MORE they need walking. Lots of tricks/training does a better job of making them more settled. Also feeding bones/dry food in treat toys which require more than your 3-5 seconds to consume can help as well. I know I can leave my 11 week old BC with a turkey wing or something and it takes forever for her to eat and she is slightly less feral after .
-
Not strictly TOT but my 11 week old BC keeps stealing the orbee on a rope out of my cupboard. Think she wants to do some training in drive . She will stare at it ever so intently if you hold it. Might have to get her a baby one :D .
