  1. Just as well Kenzie plays with everything so no great shopping urge happening here . YET .
  2. Hmm RS do you want to part with your two small i-squeaks. I buy them off yah the midget LOVES her i-squeaks and I use my little ones all the time .
  3. God what do you need with more isqueaks Ptolomy you have enough to start a small factory . Is Cider obsessed with i-squeaks yet .Pity they don't make purple i-squeaks . I actually think I don't need anything from clean run at the moment which would be a first .
  4. I remember that trial at Gawler all too well Piper. It was Ness's first trial in ANYTHING and I had only entered to go along and keep a friend company. I do know our subsequent scores never matched our first effort in the ring. To add to my tale we then took 4 years before we ever got around to entering CDX. Ness was 6 when she did her first CDX trial and in quick succession 3 trials later came away from an interstate trip to WA with three passes from three trials and her CDX title . No wonder I am so attached to WA - it has done me well .
  5. My first BC was around 18 months when she entered her first Novice and under the old rules with 2 heel patterns she scored a 187 and was second in the ring. She pretty quickly got the remaining 2 legs towards her CD title and with an extra pass. She entered agility trials around the same age and got her JD title quickly but struggled with her AD and didn't have the skills necessary to compete in the higher classes. My second BC is just about to hit 18 months and she is yet to trial in anything (ok I lie she has sat a herding instinct test ) and I am in no great rush to trial her. She has good foundations in both agility and obedience and hopefully should do well when she finally is 100% ready for the trial ring.
  6. All my old jump cups were T's cut in half and they worked fine.
  7. I want to post a brag for Kenzie . We just went to the park to catch up with a friend to do some agility practice. Only jumps and weavers as that is all the gear I have. Any way she was doing some lovely driven weavers and some nice jump grids and then a Japanese guy stops his car and gets out and asks if he can take photos while we train the dogs. Well he asks my friend. I had Kenzie sitting at the start of a sequence of jumps and she didn't even give him a sideaways second glance. He proceeded to sit down within maybe 2 m of where I had one of her jumps and it had absolutely zero impact on her. She was making a few silly green dog errors and I made a few very stupid front cross's before the weaving which caused her to pull in late but considering she is timid of strangers I was extremely surprised that she didn't show even the slightest concern. She was tugging and chasing after her ball as though the stranger wasn't there . She was nailing 2 bar lead outs too with me leading out towards where the guy was sitting. Sooo pleased with her :D .
  8. Has anybody come across a situation with a dog not adequately covered after 2 puppy shots.
  9. Way to go TSD and Ziggy - fantastic stuff and what a place to do well .
  10. There is a good description of shadow handling in Greg Derrets first dvd but Kavik gave a reasonable explanation - basically its inside and outside circles with the dog on both the right and left. Teaching the dog to walk backwards/have good rear end awareness is also a useful skill to have.
  11. Yep would go with what Kavik has already mentioned and probably add some Susan Salo jump grid work in there as well . I think not enough time is spent on foundation skills and a lot of people rush to get the dog doing more the more sexy (as Susan Garrett would say) obstacle type work before they have mastered the flatwork exercises. I am guilty of not doing enough flatwork so that is what I am focusing on at the moment.
  12. ;) SecretKei - sure I'll post her over for a test run . Winpara breeds excellent dishwashers .Only the dishwashing pup has grown and is now nearly 18 months although still pretty cute and just as useful for dishwashing purposes . She has now progressed to housework but is yet to master car cleaning :D .
  13. SecretKei - should have got yourself a BC ;) . Complete with photographic evidence
  14. I had one who thought at the Royal they were going to explode and needed careful investigation . Will say back in the old days of novice in our first trial she thought it was something to be targetted when we went down to do the recall.
  15. Actually it just occurred to me we had a Victorian Judge over to judge at the Royal and yes we did the open COP exercise across the ring.
  16. Not having competed in Novice but in SA the Open COP is done from the start peg and the few novice mock trials I have done its been from the start peg.
  17. We are talking the obedience nationals not the agility nationals .
  18. So how does one place a bet on the Nationals - think my money would be split between Brooklyn, Scoota and Alex .
  19. Well done everybody - sounds like lot to brag about today. Ness couldn't add anything work bragging about but her little sister Kenzie did some nice weaving and jumping on the practice gear at the agility trial today. Very excited about her future .
  20. Meh Obedience whats that Ptolomy . Well done LP .
  21. Yep Piper that is what I am doing at the moment and half the time my jump blows over . Sorry to go off topic WildatHeart.
  22. Something to make it look solid . We have tried the extra bars approach and that is what I use presently but mine are my agility jumps so I was hoping to have 2 dedicated to just obedience so I can have them at the correct height all the time rather than set to my agility height. Never mind might be too complicated . Will go back to my drawing board. Only needs to be 400 height I just don't like my present sheet approach as it flaps and my jump falls over.
  23. I could possibly be after 2 of the second sort if you can come up with a way I can convert it into a high/solid jump for obedience purposes .
  24. Not sure its called brave RubyStar - not like I had any choice really, been hanging around a certain somebody too long . I do as I am told these days and there is no point in questioning them cos you know they will always end up convincing you anyway so you best just save your effort for more important things :p .
