  1. Leo did better then Ness would ever do - no way would I do two UD trials on the same day she struggles enough with trials on two consecutive days . Have to say leopuppy thats a bit the way it goes with UD - you either score 0 or you score well for the most part ;) . ETA. The other bit of advice which I found helpful for me (this wasn't a Ptolomy piece either, least I don't think it was ) was not to continue with the directed jumping if they somehow miss the seekback - same goes at training. So if I was doing a ring session we might do seekback and if she messed up I would in the early stages do something other than sendaways so we might just do signals heelwork and then come back and do DJ. I found that if she missed the seekback even if I had pointed out the article to her and had her collect it or I showed her I had picked it up and put it away on the way back up the ring she would still get it into her head that she had to go and find the seekback when I lined her up for the box. She would always manage to find the box the second time but on the first time would go back into seekback mode. I also find if she hasn't done her seekback nicely then I will also get sendaway issues. And I know now she really does know what the box is but I think its some sort of mental hangup.
  2. Or not so novice dog thing to do - a certain black and white dog pulled that one at the last trial and she HAD found the seekback . Well done though with both Leo and Kinta - fantastic work.
  3. Awww will let Rivsky we are expecting a huge package then - will have to divide it up when it arrives .
  4. So who should I be looking out for in the mail Ptolomy .
  5. What TerraNik you have never trained in front of a shopping centre - shock horror I thought everybody did that ;) . Hmm I am a regular at our local one and a couple of times I have been hanging out the front with Kenzie and guess who should walk out the bloody doors but two of the obedience judges who put us through the ring at training on a Tue night . Talk about embarassing. Doesn't help the fact my dog isn't overly keen on one of them after being spooked one night at training ;) . Now that is embarassing.
  6. Even the ever so forgiving of my shitty handling Ness managed her CD in three trials under the old rules (all with placings) and then a forth extra leg the following day after gaining her title and she also managed her CDX in 3 (although there were only like 4 years in the middle) and it took being ENTERED by somebody else (not Ptolomy this time ;) ) for me to actually enter Open otherwise I think I would still be waiting . As for UD well that is another story ;) .
  7. That is where we were tonight Ptolomy but all miss frizzle brain has to do is not freak when there are kids around and stay on the same oval on the far side without running away , well at the moment. And yep Kenzie is a huge work in progress and I think I have been using the same reasoning. You could have a UD title in a very short amount of time if the dog was on the same agenda as you are ;) . Hmm would have to do a truckload more training for that to be the case though and somehow find a miracle cure for dog to hold a metal article . ETA Hmm not sure they have just cropped up think I was just living in a fantasy world where they would some how magically resolve with time ;) .Then life got in the way.
  8. When Ptolomy tells me she is ready , which at the moment is when she learns to keep her back end in and stop heeling me in a crooked line ;) .
  9. I honestly hope so Ptolomy - although maybe it is paying off I mean guess who can now do a SFE at training and I NEVER thought I'd get that to happen .
  10. I do as I am told which meant going and training outside the local shopping centre prior to the Royal. I am well and truely over it and just get on with whatever I had planned. The little kids always think its so cute to see the dog working and I usually end up doing some specky tricks after I have done what I had otherwise planned and will let them do tricks with her. Although a sure fire way to kill my well planned training session is a kid coming over and wanting to see tricks - hmmmmmm ok maybe I don't mind showing off . Pet expo was a classic we had been allocated an area for our demos but since we were pretty much the only ones using the area and I had taken some UD type gear along - were doing mini agility demos I spent a couple of odd moments going through some UD exercises (she was only in the learning stages) and basically just ran myself through a training session. I think I ended up with more of a crowd for some of it then the actual demo time . But aside from that I will train wherever and whenever and not worry about what is around. Although I am slightly more careful with my younger girl as I am more concerned about overfacing her and unexpected things happening whereas my older girl is bomb proof. Slightly different but we headed into a public park in town (also my club training grounds) and had set up some agility gear a few weeks ago. We hadn't gone for any sort of distraction purpose but just somewhere to meet with a friend to train. Any way some Asian stopped and asked if it was ok if he could practice his photography on the dogs while we were training. I did feel a bit guilty in this situation when I had trained what I had planned and felt I had to keep doing stuff because he was there watching and photo taking .
  11. Fair enough - that would definitely explain my two - Kenzie has much more andrenalin then Ness does when she plays agility .
  12. Very cool Vickie - interesting Trim double steps and Shine single steps. Does anybody have any theories as to why a dog would chose one style over another. Ness double steps but Kenzie seems to single step. Interesting as I thought some of it would be size dependent but Kenzie is a smaller dog then Ness in both height and body length so that blows that theory out the window.
  13. LP There is some stuff in the Chris Bach Manual not sure if that might help you explain it. She won't allow free play either.
  14. If somebody could make me a new signature it would be much appreciated - what is the best way to send photos? Here are the photos uploaded to photobucket but not sure if that is high enough resolution: Kenzie: Ness:
  15. Right - next time your in Adelaide TSD I'll give you Kenzie and you can try to shape her to pick her metal article up - its doing my head in BIGTIME. Not totally changing the topic - we get to about the same point that DSO gets with the dumbbell. We usually get it being taken from hand but the moment there is no hand on it or it gets to within 5-10mm of the floor FORGET it. Although at the moment she won't eve grab it from my hands and just lays down barking at me. Grrrr. Anything else you ask her to hold she does without an issue - including metal cans . Not even my non-retrieving Ness was this much effort to get to hold a metal.
  16. I am over shaping it so doesn't work!!!!!!!
  17. Oooh Zug Zug I am in need of a bag to store stuff. I do have a BJ I made it ages ago and mostly use it for agility now.
  18. Bugger LP but its always the way about the videoing. The round I got closest to passing UD with Ness I don't have on video either as my usual taping person was in the other ring with her dog . Ah well congratulations and can I send Kenzie over for some training - she needs to learn to stop crabbing .
  19. Bully - maybe we need to have an Adelaide make yourself a solid jump day - we could all muddle along together . I can help make bar jumps they are easy :p .
  20. Ooooh DogSportObsessed there is a person in Meadows that gives lessons but I have been a bit slack and also didn't really want to go by myself - maybe we could go together sometime .
  21. Hmm well thats SA for you. I went to trial in WA and was surprised that when my girl missed a position during the heelwork the judge said was I going to give her a second command.
  22. Gold coin donation and as far as I am aware it commences at 7 or 7:30pm. Seminar is at Dover in the club rooms - can you confirm the time .
  23. RosieFT - presuming your in WA there are a few tollers who run agility - might have been Ptolomy, might have been Zoe, Rivsky is over there with a toller pup Zum, Caffy has Alex (and there are a few others but they are the ones that spring to mind ).
