  1. I just figured the forum was quiet so I'd throw it out there. The context in this instance was teaching Kenzie to pick up her metal article or rather proving that she is just button pushing when she goes nope sorry can't do it. She has always had a long attention span, and I will often muck around for much longer then that with her so to me I considered it a "short" session. Just interesting my friends perspective on the session when I showed her the video.
  2. A friend just passed a comment about one of my training sessions amounting to less than 3 minutes that it was a bit long. Just wondered what views others might have when they are training something new about how long you might make a session.
  3. Goodonya - hmm if I miss anything you'll have to ask Ptolomy since she was my UD god . See Ptolomy what comes around goes around .
  4. Yes she does , but the judges aren't in our favor for the classic .
  5. You will do great RubyStar - you have such expert trainers .
  6. Sure that is the plan so you better be ready for some serious training Terra . Its called the 5 day crash course in teaching UD from start to finish .
  7. TerraNik - we have 5 days Jedi will be a pro at UD by the end of 2009 :D .
  8. RubyStar that is the reason the Midget is staying home from the Classic . Fingers crossed for a weekend of good judges sometime early in the year so we can come play too.
  9. Yep and you either lucked in or lucked out with an South Australian judge judging CCD . Put a serious hole in my plan (well that and the choice of novice judge) but ah well Ptolomy will let me know when there is another "nicer" trial to attend .
  10. Suppose we will have to see how the midget is doing :D .
  11. Think Terra is hiding - not sure are we going TerraNik .
  12. Hahaha I am an honorary Dog Sports Western Australian - its my second trialling home and my special little Western Australian bred BC is suppose to be my future dog sport expert - well when her mum can be bothered training .
  13. I have watched dogs break fairly regularly in Novice stays.
  14. Trials scheduled after 6pm or in air conditioned circumstances go ahead regardless of the temperature. They pushed the start time back until 7:30pm. Only day time trials are the ones effected by the heat policy. Having said that there were plenty of scratchings.
  15. Well done LP and Leo - Fantastic work .
  16. I just said to Ptolomy in a PM Blaize would make the perfect match for Ness if Blaize possibly didn't want to eat her for breakfast . Not sure my yard could cope with Beans and her holes unless she has matured .
  17. So how did you get on DSO?? Too hot for Ness.
  18. As for favorite red kids - I have first dibbs on little Lexi. She always has a home here if you should decide you no longer want her Ptolomy . Think she would fit in with Kenzie perfectly well.
  19. No fair point Piper - I wasn't really feeling up to it why should she have been any different. Yes it might have cooled down by the time the trial started but it was still 40 when we arrived even Kenzie was definitely showing signs of feeling the heat yesterday (well more than she had been) and didn't have quite her usual energizer batteries. And actually to be fair it wasn't that her UD work was bad - I had agreed with Ptolomy that I would withdraw her if she made any errors for the interests of the fact we had done little training and it was hot. She managed 28/30 for seekback which compared to the disaster of a seekback we had in that ring the last time we trialled in the same ring (actually the last trial we entered) where she was just being a little cow it wasn't bad. The mistake she made going out to the box was a genuine confusion not her blowing me off. There was sort of a mound in the ring (enough that the judge mentioned being careful during the heelwork) with sand then a darker green patch of grass and raced out to the dark green patch of grass. The judge was surprised that I had opted to withdraw and not continue. It wasn't as though I was pulling teeth. It wasn't a half hearted effort so I guess I was just being a bit unfair on her last night. Suppose coloured by her open performance after which I really thought she should have done better in. Ah well thats trialling for you. Rivsky - little feral seemed to have fully recovered this morning. Maybe she was feeling the heat too. They both had a lovely swim at the beach this morning early and Kenzie has come home, woofed down her breakfast and then proceeded to want her frisbee thrown so I think that she has recovered ok. Maybe it was just something she ate or the heat or goodness knows what. Oh and I did find one positive out of last night - I got complimented on having a nice drop signal for my DOR . So there you go Ptolomy all that flogging seemed to have paid off.
  20. Go Beans, Lexi and Alex . Loved the UD video Ptolomy - Bean was such a happy little worker, she is a real credit to you.
  21. Yeah I know I just guess I was after a UD on Ness and can't really afford to have a break as she doesn't have much trialling left in her. As for Kenzie yeah I am not overly fussed if she doesn't get in the ring for a while yet.
  22. Yeah that is in part why I haven't pushed Kenzie yet - I am not really sure I am enjoying it any more. Ah well.
  23. Hmm Ness passed 4 exercises - 1 in UD and 3 in Open just not very well .
  24. Nothing from me either - I have one sick little midget dog and one Ness monster who is about to be given her final farewell to the trial rings as of December.
